They’ll get to Swordsman in due time, just give said time to them.
How does the [Fear] status work? What do mobs affected by it do? Does the companion continuously growl for 10 seconds, applying and reapplying an 8 second [Fear] debuff?
Yes. Agree with you.
Nobody cares when the majority of the top rank player in PVP is not a Swordsman. Swordsman can only create the guild and let the other 3 classes conquer PVP and probably GvG too. Squire/Corsair can’t do high damage but can play as support, only Cata can survive in PVP (probably with C2 Highlander). Other classes from Swordsman tree only good for PVE.
TBH, I think swordsman need to get buff for PVP. Not a new skill separated for PvE and PVP. That means Swordsman have to buy TP more than any other class.
I think Swordsman still get buff after they finish giving buff to archer and mage. I hope so.
Falconers are currently among the top PvP bracket now :3 which is nice to see, however its still pretty mechanically intensive~
I am also pretty happy that players who are under the token sub can not trade with one another <3 woot~
Monsters which are inflicted with Fear will be unable to move nor attack. The duration of Growling is 10 minutes, and for level 1 Growling, your companion inflicts 4 seconds Fear debuff (+1 second per level) every 3 seconds.
Here’s a clip of how this skill works I recorded back to kCBT3. (You can just skip to the point at 0:58)
Another clip on kOBT from Youtube.
As you can see, there is a chance that the monsters will flee and escape from the Growling companion, and it is possible too that the Fear debuff will be resisted.
The flee might be a result of the Mob aggro limit…
you cant agro more than 5 enemies at the same time (of course there are areas without this restriction)…
Elementalist, Warlock, Necromancer, even Pyromancer can easily outdamage Swordsman.
Musketeer, Cannoneer, Fletcher, Quarell Shooter, Rogue, even basic Archer can also outdamage Swordsman.
Not to mention, those classes I mentioned above can get tons of damage without sacrificing anything.
Meanwhile :
- Doppelsoeldner needs to sacrifice tons of their physical defense in order to gain bonus damage from Deeds of Valor.
- Hoplite needs to sacrifice their evasion in order to gain bonus critical rate from Finestra.
- Shinobi needs to sacrifice a lot of their HP in order to deal tons of damage from Mijin no Jutsu.
- Swordsman needs to sacrifice their physical defense in order to gain bonus attack from Gung Ho.
- All Swordsman need to get close to their enemies first (except Corsair’s Pistol Shot) in order to deal damage, which means sacrificing their “time” and stamina for running towards their enemies.
I completely agree with you. The reason why I will keep playing Swordsman is to make a guild with Templar, nothing more.
And IMO, currently, Rodelero is the most underwhelming and worst class not just from Swordsman, but from the entire ToS. Low damage, low AoE, slow skill animation, half ass CC, half ass defensive skill, long cooldown.
Despite all that, I agree that Archer needs to get buffed more than Swordsman. They were so bad back then because there was almost no synergy between each class build and their damage were pretty low compared to Swordsman. Not to mention they lack of early AoE damage, making Sapper was the only thing that is worth playing from Archer back then.
The reason why there is almost no change to Cleric is because they are fine as they are now.
As for Wizard, they did the right thing by buffing Cryomancer, but it was a bit too much IMO.
sad to be swordman now
Not completely sad, I have found a “correct” build for my Templar so I can be powerful in both PvE-PvP even though I’m still weak against CC. But I don’t want to reveal it to public though, because I haven’t tested the build myself. It might work, it might not work.
But at least most Swordsman classes still have some use in team play, at least as a “tank” to keep the other party members from harm while dealing damage. And I’m sure that IMC will consider to rework Rodelero completely in the near future.
Uhmm.
Back in icbt2.
Archer already where the best MVP Killers.
The buff came, because people cryed too much.
Making them even more Powerfull, even if you suck at it.
Multishot 15.
16 hits.
A 3,5~4,8k damage.
(effectively, i killed that boss in 2 multishot charges+ some oblique shots. Under 10 seconds. Had the others only around… because i sucked at AOE as Archer 3.)
On an 90 dungeon flying type boss, where i was around 90 too.
Now i know how crit works and stuff… i might be even able to make it 6k a hit (with old icbt2 patch).
And your view on classes is limited to “WHo can dish out more dps.”.
Atm, Archers are a bit overpowered with they’re changes on CD’s.
Specially Fletchers are stupidly powerfull … my old build was fine as it was. Now i can spamm my only AOE skill …
I see an nerf incomming to some cd’s. Which is dearly needed for a bit balance.
But archer will stay on the high single dps builds or high aoe dps builds.
WIz class got more and better skills with utility.
This is what i will build come the next stage of int beta:
For Support, that is based on elevating others mostly. (And having bonus of about 670 matk, while making enemys have 25% of their norm … is so good xD. Magic missle+ that … drools)
For my own MVP Killer and PvP beast.
If i make an guild … or atleast a tank.
Linker+ Alche.
That’s not true…
you don’t know ■■■■ about archers xD.
For starters. an +10 noob bow works better dps wise, then an +5 bow with high atk. Or an +0 high atk bow.
–
Swordys still have decent dps.
A cartar stroke, done right. Can kill a mob of 20 monsters.
If you use the invisble stat boosts, you can dish out insane dps as barb too.
Stunned targets hit by cleave … gives 300% of your normal dps.
I had crits of 4k as level 50.
–
The fact is, that atm archer got buffed. And swordy is still not touched.
The cd reduction is to heavy.
But swordys got enough skills to go with…
It’s no longer true that having any + on a weapon reduces vs size penalty.
not true~
Mob aggro is based on many things.
I tested some stuff out (if it’s not changed in ktos).
- You got around 10~12 mobs you can aggro. Weirdly, sometimes it’s different.
- If you run into more monsters, based on your distance to all monsters. Either the new aggros you or the old stays in aggro, making the new not move after you.
- Pet’s are like an new player. Mob’s that ignore you will aggro to your pet. Up to 10~12.
- Skills can increase your aggro. Peltasta only.
I tested this at egnomes (elite) and these kepas (normals).
Worked well. You still need to find enough mobs to do this xD.
It was my first char where i went archer archer hunter. As i tought “yeah i need an AOE skill, let’s take hunter.” i was happy with it, even while people harrased me xD.
The sad part was … that the aoe was limited …
So i only could enjoy my companion as barb … mobbing over 20 egnomes to a spot. Cartarstorke~ Beautifull profit.
1 Enemy knocks back to another, without actually moving because of the density. Through the many knockbacks that multiplied to the amount of enemys hit by it … even with an atk of 100 (pure dex build) and cartar doing around 600 dps non crit … that was fun xD.
An early test xD … where i was still nooby. But you can see it’s more then 5.
Sadly, my test with egnomes… is blocked by youtube… for some reason.
WUUUT!
… where did i miss that info. I read the patches …
Okay, that’s an extrem buff… change it back!
test it on a normal field…
It wouldn’t be rare for them to increase the #…
it was 5 in icbt2 except for 2nd demon prison where there was no limit…
I think now it is a 10% penalty to medium, and a 15% penalty to large, not reduced by anything.
Each character in your party increases the aggro limit, as well as companions / summons ( or a peltasta using taunt ofc ). Normal maps are 5, instance dungeons are a bit more.
I know that
I was a sorcerer too
EDIT :::

not every swordie will get highlander. at average swordman classes attack with even best equipped gears still no match with other classes damages.
i just had a compare with my friend dopple, schwazer, fletcher, fire build mage, sadhu dps, monk dps. too sad to be real, dopple spin attack is barely to cope with thier dps. not to mention my corsair build damage. seriously, swordman attack damage is hardly do as high as them.
