they thought it sounds cool.
the real question is: Tree of Savior or Tree of the Savior ?
Simple question, simple answer.
Because this MMO will be our Savior. Fed up with all those WoW clone MMO’s everywhere.

My guess?
Perhaps at the start of the project the devs thought: Welp, let’s do this like RO… yeah, a Norse theme! Let’s take a Norse thingy–how about we go with “Yggdrasil”? That immense tree of awesomeness? Yeah, we can get good ideas there–hell yeah! That’ll make for a good story!
And then partway through they thought: Hey, wait this really doesn’t have to be Norse or Ragnarok or that other thingy at all say why don’t we ditch the name. But y’know that Tree of Life thing? That’s good ■■■■ there; we have to keep that! But Life sounds kinda bland…
And then we got Tree of Savior.
Well…according to the lore, we were all living happy lives under the control of four Goddesses. Then, they randomly disappeared and a big evil tree showed up and started creating monsters. That was four years ago. Now, the rest of humanity is all gathered in this central town, saying they had dreams of one of the long lost Goddesses.
Maybe the tree has something to do with their disappearance? Maybe there are more than one type of tree - ie not only giant monster spawning evil ones?!

Wouldn’t it be cool if later on in some expansion, when we meet the 4 goddesses they offer new tree of job classes with the goddess’s theme in mind , but would require you to go back to being level 1 xD
…Something like RO’s rebirth system? …maybe? xD
EDIT: …hey wait a minute …tree…maybe it’s tree of saviour because the class system is like a tree branching out to different results!?

thoughts also… maybe the “tree” needs help to save/look for the goddeses missing for the reason it appeared in the 1st place… @_@" confusing though… bah

I like rebirth system so endgame is harder to reach, at least I hope they’ll come up with really hard class changing methods, I would like that
rebirth= regrinding is hard @_@" cause u cant get the quest u already finish… well besides that fact the u can get daily quest(if theres any) or do a grind fest w/ friends… and makes the game imbalance IMO
maybe it’s the result of bad grammar translation like how attack on titan is. 
dude ‘tree of savior’ itself is wrong grammar
sometimes that a wrongly spelled thing in a game could mean a certain something. fictional worlds can have fictional words, or more commonly double meaning words.
Probably a reference to the Yggdrasil (tree of life) which would have been a much cooler name.
Maybe even “Tree of Life” would have worked better.
