Just my concern about "Chatting"

:joy: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Maybe. But to be honest, I don’t enjoy smalltalk in real life either. I love good conversations, but I hate meaningless chatter.
Before I met my husband I’ve been on a few dates with a physicist who was just working on his doctoral thesis and I remember how baffled the guy was that I was genuinely interested in his work and that I really wanted to talk about it.

FPS is truly a problem… I mean with the gathering of people, I was at around 20 fps. (Some said 5 fps for them sometimes)

But the only way to attract people is to stay on channel 1 since most of players are on it. Or we could always use shouts…

Speaking of shouts, once I had a normal conversation with friends with only shouts and someone whispered me to thank me to make the game livelier. It was the greatest compliment I could ever hoped for.

I don’t know how Fedimian is on Klaipeda server though, it might not be the same.

Edit: Actually he said ā€œdead game livelier-ā€ā€¦ So yeah, it’s kind of dead here in Fedimian EU server. More than Klaipeda at least.
Klaipeda/Orsha -and maybe- Fedimian server merge one day? But it will be too late if it ever happens.
Hmm, let’s go back to the topic subject.

well done said u guys…the megaphone should be free like CBT…we can c that it is 1 of the cause y people didnt chat so much =.=…

this is another trick how i start chat with people. Whenever i c people farming/grinding or doing mission i go to he/she and said " HEY NOOB". Automatically they will response. Also they are asking f PVP. KAHKAH

Anybody who says that to me gets a prison cell made out of icewall then I leave.

I’m still certain the whole tree of savior fanbase has the same thought of mind as this dimwit, even on the korean server (but less) everyone seems to be dead as a doorknob, and some people even lash out when you interrupt their blessed silence in an online game. Never played a game on korean nexon that had this issue but something has to come first place, right?

I constantly have to shout out something in the shout chat to keep my mind believing that this is actually an MMO, but at this point I don’t understand if it’s just the community, the game or both combined into one unholy mismatch of a mistake.

But it’s an online game… If you are anti-social why not just play single player games? This doesn’t make sense to me. Don’t these ā€œsolo playersā€ just play it until they get bored and then quit too? Since at the end of the day, in any MMO, it’s the friends you make that keep you logging in right?

Or maybe I’m just getting old…

Game content helps… but even the best content sucks when you get tired of soloing. I personally haaaaaaaaaate soloing, I do it in ToS because I’ve been told at higher levels it becomes a lot more necessary to party up. I’ve made a few friends with people to talk to as well. I joined a guild, then people started leaving, so I left too since it was so quiet.

I agree with the idea of something like linkshells–not full on guilds but something that is more than a chatroom as well (though you can make those).

I think it depends on the game. A lot of modern MMOs are extremely story driven, at least until you hit maxlevel. Some are even fully voiced and offer quite an immersive and entertaining single player experience. I tend to play those mostly solo. In fact I often feel that interacting with players kind of pulls me out of the story (unless they’re trying to roleplay). But even though I’m not often interacting with other players directly I still appreciate that they are there. The world just feels livelier.

But in the long run, you’re right. You need friends to have a reason to keep logging in after you finished the story. Endgame content is usually designed for groups. But if a MMOs is good, I usually just try to convince my real life friends to play it with me after I tried it for a few weeks.

Sure, a truly single player game might offer an even better solo experience, but … I don’t know, I usually just enjoy the MMO-style combat and the the massive open worlds. There aren’t many single player games in fanatsy settings that offer what I’m looking for. I love the TES francise, but there isn’t much else on the market. Other games like the Witcher for example force you into a specific role for the purpose of telling a richer and deeper story, but that’s a thing I don’t like, esp. if I have to play as a male character.
And of course, a singler player game usually doesn’t offer the possibility to team up with my real friends if they happen to play the same game.

I think the reason why they made it like that is to avoid class discrimination.

How about proper class balancing so class discrimination isn’t a problem? Seems like a pretty lazy solution if you ask me. I mean it works… I guess… we all love our zero healer instance runs that’s for sure lol.

yea but its not only for class but also for the equips. some people does not want to party with someone wearing a noob equips. this happens to me in other mmorpg game. they literally search your items and ignore you if you dont have rare equips.

Players tend to discriminate more if the game design isn’t careful I guess. I still remember the item discrimination in Tera Online… some of the worst I’ve ever seen if you’ve ever played it. People don’t care if you have the skill to do content they only care about your item level.

I get the point of a party queue system but this game also has a terrible matching system too where 9 times out of 10 you get no healer or all healers.

I feel like failed game design creates discrimination. You may always have some forms of discrimination like Item Level requirements in FFXIV were there for raiding but I feel like it was tolerable there and I never was really bothered by it and I did a lot of raiding too.

Or maybe free to play games are worse than pay to play because of how easy it is for anyone to pick them up and play them without financial concerns.

Though I would like to say that I feel upgrading your equipment is part of an MMO experience that players should be putting some effort into doing to some degree but at the same time, requirements can get out of control like they did in Tera.

The class discrimination issue also prevents some players from growing up. Many combinations are just not viable, though it is often claimed everything is viable. Also toxic behavior cannot be properly sanctioned because the queue ignores blocklists. Sum it up, play how you want and get away with it, thats how the system works.
My personal issue with the system is that it produces both healerless and overheal teams, which both would not be present without the random system.

And what has been said about the daily… thing. It could not be truer. It creates the feeling of missing something in case you do not do your dailies before anything else. But the true purpose of such restrictions has also been mentioned, it is to slow down players from reaching endgame.

For one thing, larger gatherings of players must be avoided cause of the fps issue. Entering Fedimian c1 is just foolish. A gathering place as such would also not work well. Imagine many players gather, along with the goldspammers that can come too. Also cause of the stupid respawn system, you are better off avoiding others therefoe avoiding a fight over limited ressources. The game design itself makes people avoid each other, cause up to about 210, you can solo every quest.

Heh, I just read a big discussion in another forum about the lack of socialization in today MMOs a few weeks ago and why people choose to play those games solo.
Some of the popular reasons are:

-Limited time to enjoy deeper interactions because of a hectic schedule (doing stuff in the house, wife, kids etc.)
-Exclusive IPs (some IPs you can only play in an MMO)
-Avoid toxic behavior
-The world feels more ā€œaliveā€ than a typical single player game.
-Complex game mechanics.
-Narrative
-Freedom

But in the end, it’s the old extroverts x introverts, the game should cater to both playstyles but sometimes it’s a hard thing to do because you never know when to much group content (or solo) can break your game.

IMO people just got old with the genre and the magic of interacting with random strangers in a fantasy world is long gone but the nostalgia remains.

I often wonder if the magic is really gone or if it’s actually all of the toxic behavior that’s been an infestation in the modern age of multiplayer gaming. In some cases, like these forums for example, overly toxic behavior begins to push people into silence. I know people who still play League for example and have all their chat boxes disabled so they can’t read any chats because of toxicity.

MMOs are no longer the friendly nice world they were a long time ago when people were playing Everquest. I usually interact with strangers to establish a social circle and then I stick to my friends at that point personally…

Cyka blyat is all you need to start a conversation. It’s international language between every gamer of any race and language knows it as ā€œHello.ā€.

That way you don’t have to say hello in your own language.

Reasons, why i usually don’t answer to people saying hello/hi on missions/dangeons:

  1. What should i say? Good weather today? Answer the same word is boring :frowning:
  2. I’m quite busy (using my buffs/talking with IRL friends/searching forums)
  3. Can’t type too fast
  4. Usually, i use guild chat, so sometimes i don’t see what people are saying in normal or party chat
  5. ??? Not communicative person, can be bored of talks

It’s working only for Russians. Like me.

With some typing skill you can type while moving in many MMOS. But this game forces you to stand still while typing.
