Itemization and endgame content

Hello, first of all I wanna point out that I don’t intend this game to be Ragnarok, nor WoW, nor any other mmo on the market. With that being said, I wanted to talk with you here about how scarce the itemization in the game is and how bland the endgame content is. Every player above the level of 200 might have realized this by now, but there’s not many items to pick for, therefore killing the little theorycrafting this game has, me, as a hardcore player I’ve always found enjoyment on thinking the best ways to optimize my build, what to farm, what not to farm, etc. But in this game those options area REALLY limited, most clerics/wizards use the same weapons or just a variety of 2, we all mostly use plate or virtov’s if you are a wizard or some archers. Now, is this what you guys enjoy? do you guys enjoy having such little variation between builds when it comes to itemization? I personally don’t, therefore I thought of a way that might help change this AND might help on how to fix the endgame content aswell, since, well, there’s only 5 floors of earth tower to do because going further it’s pointless at this very moment. Besides that you have world bosses and that’s it, there’s nothing else to do in a competitive enviroment.

Without further ado, I thought about this for quite a while and yes, you might get a ro vibe coming from it.

  • Addition of maps for grinding items with less exp, more density, more aggresive AI and an ocassional world boss without a set timer, but number of kills on the map.

What do I mean with this? The game RIGHT NOW needs for people to get out of Fedimian/Klaipeda to actually do something after you are done with ET/Saalus/Dungeons there’s absolutely no reason to do anyting else besides world bosses and it feels incredibly boring by now. By doing this we could enrage grinding parties from different guilds, world pvp to be more enticing, it would also give us something to do and something to actually theorycraft and also it would help with the “WoW” vibe that we get when we do chores such as ET, Saalus. I hope this gets taken seriously and if you guys don’t feel as I do, please point it out. I want the game to not become stale or just a daily simulator in the future, so anything that might help, please say so.

And If I’m crazy for saying this please flag me to death.

I’m not above the lvl 200.

But I don’t mind the fedimian missions. I meet a lot of cool people there.
It is certainly a change of pace from the endless quests of 1-120.

itemization may be lacking true. but while other games have a lot of items, this game makes up for it with a lot of customization features. you can upgrade you weapon in so many ways. And I think that counts for something.

But I will agree that the game could use more endgame items. Make it so that it’s a situation where it’s not clear which equipment you should take. Because right now there are clear winners and losers. Like Arch rod is definitely better than Elder rod.

Makes sense, the game gets much, much repetitive after you hit 280 speciall if you don’t do world bosses.

What do you mean with upgrading your weapon in many ways? I’m curious

Yeah, that’s my point, for example, at 280 if you are an offensive cleric you either have superior corona rod (the best “accesible” rod in the game) or Circle rod (from a 275 world boss, 500k per reroll) other rods are lolopanther and that’s just floor 20 from earth tower. I hope this clarifies what I mean. Most wizards use the same rod, if not all wizards. Some supports use catacombs club aswell or audra if cryomancer.

Just wait for GvG and if it succeeds i dont see the game dying for years.

How does GVG solve the itemization problem? the theorycrafting? diversity in builds when it comes to same ranks or different ones? Is not really about if the game will die because of this or not, I’m mostly trying to tackle the issues at hand.

Also I don’t see GVG happening with the optimization this game currently has. Have you seen a GVG lately? (I’m not being sarcastic, just curious) I’ve seen people doing GVG with 10 frames tops with high end rigs.

there are some great hidden items in the game, one day i am definatly going to lose all my money on repairing a +15 5slotted lv10 red gemmed Five Hammer for the absolute ludacrisness of the weapons mere existance. for those who don’t know, the weapon Five Hammer is a lv40 hammer with 15 durability, 5 Potential, and FIVE SLOTS, with 55 damage(No variance), 45 magic damage, and FIVE AoE Ratio, so personally i would love if more stupid weapons like this emerged later on that turnd out to be actually useful if you put work into them, but on the idea of the games current itemization i must agree the options arn’t exactly there.

once you hit rank 4 and clear zachariel mausoleum you have the two best bracelets for the majority of classes. Bearkaras(Merregina for wiz), and Zach bangle. few classes need glad/sissel, and only alchemist is going to use a bracelet of linne. necklaces, everyone is basically aiming for max petamion. few wizards are using Animus and while i’ve considered animus as well, it seems like Max Petamion just works better. and you get substitute necklaces around the forest of prayer area to +10 individual stats, so you just wear one of those for your main stat until you get peta or max peta. armor i don’t know enough about but it does seem to be the case where everyone is looking to wear the same armor and it shouldn’t be like that. each class should have an ideal set of armor imo and not just for one armor type. by class ofc i mean base class however. nothing like +x skill on a piece of armor w/o monster gem unless the gear is of red or higher grade, but a wizard shouldn’t feel the need to wear say, virtov plate until they get Lolopanther cloth.

just my 2 cents but i think the issue here is mostly in the fact that were still capped at the midway point of the game, but at the same time if sets continue to follow the current trend, its going to be pretty sad later down the line when people are trashing raidboss gear beacuse its both untradable and not the type of gear they were looking to get.

Thats what I am saying. GvG adds another element to gameplay. Eventually people get bored of farming monsters with poor AI and they just want to kill people in bulk.

The last paragraph it’s my point exactly, I understand quite well taht the state of the game is not “finished” per se, but even then if they keep this up I don’t see many players staying. Is not like this game has a huge follower base like, let’s say, Final Fantasy, WoW, etc. Yeah sure, Ragnarok has their back but for how long? I honestly hope changes, not demanding in any way though.

More Quest, items, Dungeons, more Floors in Earth Tower, and of course more Ranks and Levels for you Character. Be Patient and remember…

Quests don’t change anything, tehy are all the same, dungeons are the same thing, a chore to do due to lockouts. More floors in earth tower it’s THE SAME THING, a chore, a daily one. What you need to understand is, as I’m one of the people that clears earth tower daily, there’s NOTHING else to do, Literally nothing, not to mention the fact that if you want to get loot from earth tower, you have to ABANDON the mission, you cannot keep going. If they add things like you say, more dungeons more quests, items (and if those items still come from dungeons) there will still be nothing else to do. That’s what I’m trying to get across, there’s no activities to do in the day besides those. That’s the difference between wow and ToS, WoW lets you play the raid until you either clear it or your brains melt, ToS doesn’t let you to that, you either fail on floor 1 in 5 minutes, or clear it in 30 minutes, after that, that’s it.

guys, this game aint finish … i mean during the beta the limite was level 200, now it is 280 & they will add stuff, let them time.

Agreed bro. Even at lower levels (229 atm) i keep looking for time to play ToS (mostly only in the weekend) and when i get to play it i realize all i can do is clear my 3 siaulai missions , my 3 dungeons and either grind or continue to do quests (which are almost vanished at this point in the game). There is no good farming options if u want to make some money/ drop something, as most of the maps are croweded and mob rates su.ck. The places where u have high mob density are the places u actually dont get sh.it besides XP (no hype for a rare drop).

Itens options actually starts pretty decent till 120-170 equipment. Then is just a normal piece vs a blue piece vs a purple piece, and rarely some red ones, and 99% of them comes from dungeon, and 99% dungeon cubes are talts, so get lucky or just cry to get something.

But game is still on progress, it is fresh and new, i hope after fixing all these bugs/connection issues IMC can start working on the content of the game.

Well 1 thing I feel the strange which is armor choice. Plate armor on caster class?

3 plates + cloth gloves and thats it. Variation on items is really poor as u rarely see any cloth besides gloves giving significant Matk/m.amp boosts, so as wizards it is better to just cover our lack of P.Def with plate and still deal the same damage of a full cloth wizard anyway. We dont need the SP increase cause alche pots are enough to cover SP problems, while having some extra HP and def helps throughout the game much more.

But i agree it doesn’t make much sense at all. WIzards should’nt be able to equip such itens LOL cause they are heavy and stuff, but this is a game choice so why not? it gives a little bit more versatility after all.
