It TOS beyond redemption?

TOS has nothing to do with Ragnarok and shouldn’t be compared to it. It is two total different games.
The only similarity is the soundtrack.

Either one likes the style of TOS and enjoys the time here or not. And this you have to find out for yourself.

Nothing in common at all! I love that you people still exist saying the games have nothing to do with each other.

This ^

To the topic starter,
Just play the game without paying and have no expectations from the devs and you’ll be a happy player. I have to admit I did spent quite a sum on this game when I was a very hopeful individual(no longer). It’s not substantial but the amount is enough for me to keep ffxiv subbed for a couple of years.

That said, I totally, totally regretted giving imc money…

This is what you want as similarities. What you posted is…

  • Both games have a stat system. Like it’s rare for games to have a stat system.
  • Both games have upgradeable weapons. ^
  • Both games have usable skills. Well duh.
  • Both games have classes. Wow! Both not really similar. To be honest the class system of TOS is more similar to Final Fantasy then to Ragnarok.

I also played Ragnarok for a long time and actually stumbled upon TOS as I was looking for the soundtrack. Thought they were similar but as soon as I played the closed beta I had to realize that it’s completely different.
TOS is more similar to games like Diablo. But at least I know now how people even come close to think the game is like Ragnarok - Thanks for the insight, I always wondered about that.

So you’re trying to tell me a Swordy in RO is any different than ToS where you can only equip swords, spears, and about the same weapon, learn about the same skills, and even ride things on certain classes. That being just one example is wrong? Even the spears hit “medium” sized monsters for more damage. Clearly different though…Or perhaps you’re just in denial and don’t want to admit it then mad I proved you wrong.

Who knew that having an engine where you can jump and is more laggy would make the same core mechanics so different that it must be a different game. It’s almost like the same guy who made the first game didn’t make a nostalgic cash grabbing simulator. We need the Pepsi/Coke challenge up in here!

It has some differences, but if you were to sit there and make venn diagram with an unbiased look then it would show a lot of similarities which you think don’t exist. We are regressing back to the forum days where people say “This isn’t Ragnarok Online!” when obviously it’s not but still almost the same game.

Well, it’s pretty known to all that tos is the spiritual successor to RO… I myself followed and picked this up because of that as well. For RO back then, I played it because the class system had some resemblance towards Final fantasy tactics, even the whole pecopeco was so ff inspired lol

Have you actually played TOS or did you just look at pictues? Serious question. o.o

By the same logic you can say in TOS you kill monsters, do quests, level up and queue for instance dungeons with other Swordman, Mages, Healers and Archers. So TOS is the same as WOW. Must be a spiritual successor of Azeroth I guess.

I know the game was supposed to be kind of a successor to Ragnarok and was even called Projekt R iirc. But still the core game, the fundamental gameplay concept, the way it plays, the classes and how skills, character developement and fighting works is not even close to how Ragnarok was. That’s the way it is and either people like it or not. I know some people that actually came here because TOS reminded them of Diablo and I think that’s actually more than those with the Ragnarok past. That made sense as TOS definitally plays more like Diablo than Ragnarok. It’s kind of a Korean Diablo mmo(rpg) in kawaii and bad with horrible support and even worse balance. But it’s kawaii and the soundtrack is good - so it’s fine.

I only have played it for 9 minutes? 90 hours? 900 hours? Over 9000? Actually this is my first day here! Konichiwa nice to meet ya~

We going to dig deeper? I honestly don’t want to continue this any more since it’s not really going any where but to a personal level. So it’s your win m8 the game is actually Hearthstone because there’s cards in it.

Uh now that you mention it… We have cards, everything is RNG and to be strong you need to be a Credit Card warrior. Guess that’s right.

Just like in Mr Kim’s statement, TOS is a casual game…

i don’t really care about all that stuff. the main problem is the game is the same as most others, not the adventure they advertised. they should have had all the various jobs and maps and stuff run in parallel instead of linear and with zero difficulty -apart from getting cash of course.

Kind of went into a semi-hiatus over the last 3weeks+. Sad to say I don’t really feel the urge to play nor have any withdrawal symptoms. Really hope that they will release Miko soon and have more things for the players at level 315+ to do.

Once miko is released then 95% of the players will be cleric. This will be a good time to reroll since there will be more healers.

Tree of clerics ftw. kakaka

Pray to Miko altar about 800-1000 times. Each prayer takes about 10 seconds so expect to invest at least 2.5 hours. One channel can only accommodate 1 player praying, so multiple players can pray at the same time via multiple channels.

Prayers do not appear to carry over to the next day. Try to pray in one sitting and within the same day.

Lol this is going to be fun.

So that “multiple” players can pray in “multiple” channels being two or three. Good thing the population drops every month because that makes it easier with less competition!

Monster around Rank 8 (lv240+) is the big F*CKYOU to the player , seriously…

What’s the point to have 10K ATK per hit when monsters have 300K HP at minimum and it can be to the absurd number of half-million HP (Some of which even have an actual million HP)

This make any skill that have single hit damage useless and the only kind of skills that useful will all be the dot one. Which lead to the reason why PD2 is everywhere.
