Is Tos the most terribly designed mmo is history?

You spend hundreds of hours leveling a “futureproof” character in hopes that it will play well in new content. And then new content comes out and you reroll because it is now ■■■■.

You reroll characters and nullify hundreds of hours because of 1 wrong circle.

There are supposedly 80 classes, but it’s more fun to theory craft on tosbase.com than to actually play the game.

Insanely boring questing to level “mandatory” alts.

You can’t have more than 10 people on the screen without wierd lag and rubber banding.

Because I have 100+ ping, my skills hit 1 second after animation goes off. I thought that’s how the skills worked, but then I saw ktos videos…

Awkward bandaid items/skills to keep past circles barely relevant in new content(i.e. necklace for fire skills, taoist lightening amp). Because the game is inherently flawed, this is what they do…

The worst damage scaling in any game I played. Int scales 1to1 with skills, no % scaling for lower circles despite terrible base dMG, that’s why wiz went full control before b/c int is useless next to high base dMG. Str works like int but with more perks, but still adds minuscule dMG next to high base dMG and high dex (crit).

1892 in house game engine.

Koreans. I love your food and your people. But I’ve worked for two Koreans in my life and apparently being shortsighted and unwilling to listen to a non Koreans advice is a cultural thing. Why the fk did you use an inhouse engine from 1892 when so many good and modern engines are available.

I don’t play tos anymore but I am still sad that this game turned out to be such a disappointmebt. Feel free to discuss.

This is so true, I’ve worked for Koreans in the past and they absolutely refuse to listen to non Koreans advice. For some reason they love tripping over pennies trying to make a dollar.

While IMC certainly has fuqed stuff up, the answer to your question is

Calm down, Class Reset is coming.

Also, if you have alts and stuff, it is WAY easier to level another character, you can get to 200 in a week if you know people who can give PL and how to quest/grind most efficiently.

Shoutouts to people ignoring criticism and try to confirm their sure-fire 100% “futureproof” characters as an act of god. Gotta make your characters for you; listening to a meta is bound to make you sub-optimal when a newer meta shows up.

Is ToS borked up the ass? Yeah, it’s a sub-functional MMO that has fun moments inside of it, but refuses to actually shape itself up in a timely matter.

Is it the worse designed MMO I’ve played? Hell no, far from it.

The way I see it, you’ll trash and shitpost about a game because ironically you still care for it. Love and Hate are still two sides of the same coin: Affection. If people didn’t care, they’d just actually leave and not say a word. Why spend time on trash?

Is it poorly managed though? Yeah. But alot of kMMOs brought over from Mother Korea also get shafted, so ToS isn’t as special in that regard. It’s rarer to hear one that hasn’t.

This isn’t RO2, that game had some major ■■■■■■ up stuff going on while I was there.

Nothing has beat out RO2 for me in terms of shitty yet.

ToS got shafted in the ass alright

Maybe your “futureproof” build was old beta meta bullshit regurgitated by the masses that you listened to and followed blindly without understanding why it worked, and you just aren’t good enough to figure one out on your own.

And then you reroll to the next one you “read up on” (where you actually just copy and pasted a build from some thread thinking it was great), again not understanding what about it (if anything) is good, but everyone else is doing it so it’s got to be great, but then it’s ■■■■, and you wonder why this keeps happening to you. And then you blame bad game design.

Game has plenty of problems, but that’s not one. You have choices in this game and you made the wrong one. Why blame anyone else?

Well I know that Tos has some bad points but I dont think is the worst mmo game ever.

Since the beta, Tos has fixed bugs and trying to resolve some game problems (sometimes results in something worse like “rng cubes”) but one thing that I dont think its a problem is rerolling. I used to play with a friend but he always was rerolling cause his class sometimes was OP and others nerfed, I started to feel tired of waiting for him to be on my lvl cause he was always rerolling every patch, so one day say to him and I say the same to you, STOP SEEING WHAT IS MORE OP OR NERFED JUST PLAY THAT YOU ■■■■■■■ WANT.

Eventually at some point all the classes will be OP or nerfed.Rerolling is not a game problem its a problem with you. Its just a game, if you want everything easy and OP then just play nintendo games on easy mode with cheats and all those stuff. Im a linker lvl 3 only ONE damage ability “magic missile” but I really love when I use my “life line” my friend said “every one is skiping linker 3, cause lack of damage, is boring bla bla bla, better use another class” everyone wants me on their party an not my friend cause there are like 10000 builds same like him.

But to be honest, you are right, Tos is not for you, this inst RO. For me is not Insanely boring.

And finally, maybe classes are not supossed to be relevant all the time, maybe just the time when their rank is acordding to the lvl, have you ever played Final Fantasy? well if you choose a mage you will learn a spell called fire, at 40 lvl you learn Firaga (same spell but more powerfull) making fire less efective, at lvl 80 you learn meteor and the cicle repeats… well its kind same here but with classes.

Although the game is bad it’s not that bad compared to something like www.darkages.com which still do “exist” because I can’t exactly say it’s alive. Oddly enough a brain child of Nexon which this game might as well be labeled too at this point since the whole international thing was a farce. So any time you think something is bad go play Darkages and compare the mechanics, controls, lag, ect. to that game.

Why all these long paragraphs?
To OP;
YES

To OP:
Have you never played a shovelware mmo?

I dont think the younger crowd even knows what shovelware means, but also made me think of BDO and the shovel exploit that just happened.

I agree with most points, but the ones above are more than enough to confirm this game is in terrible hands.

Also the fact that low level equipments have cool effects, but eventually become obsolete (Krausas Mace, Ignition, etc.).

When Transcendence was announced as a new mechanic, i thought it would be something to bring low level equipment stats up to “your level”. Nope, just another dumb mechanic to make you farm more dailies and increase the gap of new items (and focus even more on gear carrying people instead of skill).

Besides the fact that i reported and pleaded for IMC to fking fix the pet body blocking mouse users and the UI also screwing us up (need to use 2 addons to fix something that is apparently too hard for IMC to code…).

The most terrible design mmo in history? …nope …there’s worse
I’ve seen some that only live for like a month or two then got killed

Badly designed? nah, it’s just badly implemented and managed.
Class balance are poorly handled together with the absurd DPK system.

100 % agreed. - - - - - -

Heck, they even come to a foreign country, set up shop (that’s another word for business) there and absolutely refuse to learn/speak proper English, God forbid the native language.

That should give you a rough idea of just how flexible these “business-minded individuals” are.

This is not an idea I came up with, my GF works under one of IMC’s divisions and these are her boss(es). I’ve worked with some of my own but not in a games-company environment.

Side note, as long as they can get by (even barely), they’ll be fine with the most skeletal of skeleton crews to save a few bucks. I wish I could say “quality over quantity”, but under-staffing doesn’t do that.

Extra side note, they’re great as actual human friends though (like face to face / in real life).

As businessmen, their priority is to bring in un-skilled, un-qualified chumps that just so happen to be either direct family, a close relative or a long time friend to take managerial posts. Of course they’re Korean too, what did you think they’ll be?

Greeeeeaaat now you have to teach your “boss” how to do his/her job, because you f*cking know more.

Oh what’s that? You speak English fluently but he/she still can’t understand? Oh right, you gotta remember paragraph one.

TL;DR You’re d*mn right it’s a cultural thing.
