As someone already point out that we use ATK-DEF to get the damage calculation.
While most of the game use the % in Def method.
My question is…Will this be OK in the long run?
Some problem I can see in the future is.
-
Lack in diversity of end game build.
Why? because Monster/Boss will have higher and higher DEF.
And we’ll need high damage to tackle those.
This might make some random class unfarmable due to 1 damage they deal. -
Hard to design a new Boss/Monster
With too high DEF some class will unable to deal damage to enemy at all.
With too low DEF some class will do extremely high damage.
This apply to player as well
If the damage is too great compare to DEF like 1000 ATK to 30-80 DEF that would make no difference.
But if the damage is in range of DEF like 100 ATK to 30-80 DEF that would make every DEF and upgrade count. -
Upgraded weapon/armor will have too high impact to the game or none at all.
Since we directly add/deduct damage directly.
In case of low damage every upgrade will have high impact to the game.
In case of high damage upgrade wouldn’t be much matter. -
New Items are hard to be creative.
The one that has higher ATK/DEF+status (which also effect ATK/DEF) would be almost always better.
Those I mention above can be happen in the long run.
TL;DR
If the damage is too high def doesn’t matter.
If the damage is too low def does too much.
Those will effect the game play both way in the future.
