Is saving cards really worth it?

Sorry for all those guys that took their time answering here. I did a lot of more research after the thread and saw that I was wrong and indeed there are cases where you should save cards, but didnt edited the post. Altought, the thread was still useful to incite the discussion cause many people got the opportunity to know about this (not even close to being common sense), and also to show IMC maybe the map design flaws over the progression.

I’ll edit the main thread ASAP to not misinform more people. Thanks for all the info and sorry for the trouble.

Yup, only for below. Which is why I just use cards to stay within the -4 level limit.

Those delicious, luscious HP and SP potions… drools…Could you spare me some? :stuck_out_tongue:

for me when i was using my archer i saved some exp card but used it on the wrong situation

you shouldn’t use exp card when you can level in dungeon (50-70 dont use cards and in 90-110 also) get all the quest from 50-70 or 90-110 and when all of them are finish go finish quest 5 levels above you and then use it to get to the next dungeon and do it again.

thats what i did in my wizard and so far its quite ok didn’t have much problem going from 50-100 except when im too lazy and AFK 60% of the time i play ToS (thinking about random stuff that i shouldn’t think of)

I’m testing saving ALL cards until high level 165. I’ll do some calculations to see what level I need to be to pull it off. Unfortunately, my character broke and I can’t log into it anymore when I am at 103 with only 5 days played.

I think it’s worth saving if what people are saying is true about how 160+ leveling is super hard after demon prisons. Every card will count in order to get to rank 6. I got to 103 no problem with pure grinding, and it wasn’t even that hard to grind, and I was just a dex priest auto attacking with no overkill, no parties, and no dungeons.

There may be merit in using cards earlier to get to better grind spots, but, so far, there has always been great grind spots all the way to where I am at.

You grinded all the way till 103? 0 exp cards used?

Yep. Not even the level 1s.

Leveling in ToS is nothing like leveling in RO, so I have a lot of patience when it comes to grinding.

it’s intended, it’s what ppl are calling “grinding gap” , some ppl love it , some hate it.

way too much text for me to read

TL:DR
the main reason ppl save cards is to jump the community known “wall”
once you get to level 50 you dungeon for the first time and think “OMG GREAT EXP”, then at level 90 “OMG GREAT EXP <3”, and again at level 130 “OMG GREAT EXP <3333”

but that’s pretty much it, the next dungon is at level 160, but it gives only 5% exp per run, and can only be done twice, after the that, the next dungeon is level 175…

there is a quest gap between level 169 and 183, if you just keep using your cards, when you reach that quest gap, you’ll have to grind your levels, and monsters will give you something like after 3~5 mobs you get 0.1%. so at least 3000 to 5000 monsters for 1 single level…

if you hit the wall, and get stuck there, ppl even suggest that you reroll your char, and try again ;i

I didnt read the rest of your post. If you didnt read, you just said again something that someone already did. Your participation on this thread is useless.

What is funny is that besides the 1st sentence his post provides the most information of all of em.

the point is, i’m not the one asking questions here, i’m the one who came here to answer, i don’t need to read, just answered the topic question ;i

if someone already answered, okay, no harm, if not, them it’ll be helpfull, you don’t need to flame ppl that came to help

I have leveled 4 characters and on 3 of them I hit a wall right before level 80. I think saving cards could be kind of useful, but not essential around that level too.

It’s even worse then a wall, it’s more like pitfall, a really deep one.

This thread have a better explanation but I’ll give a tl;dr explanation here:

So, the short version is that you need to grind 30m exp (can be less depending on card’s bonus exp luck) after lv 140 to reach lv 175 where the next good exp dungeon opens up and life is good again (this is in addition to doing pretty much all the quests that opens up)

Then factors in:
Demon Prison District 2 have INSANE density, like it’s as dense as Klaipeda channel 1 on first day. This means even a party of 5 can keep on killing things instead of some people having nothing to do.
Exp difference between lv 150 mobs and 170 mobs are…small. (like less than 10% small)
There’s no map with dense mob spawn at 170.

And thus the verdict is to get that 30million grind out where it’s easiest to do: Demon Prison District 2.

Thank god I have provoke, and thus can grind in non-dungeon maps :stuck_out_tongue:

What about the lv 160 instance in Greene Manor? Does it not give exp at all?

So the level 160 dungeon is giving almost no exp and 160-170 mobs are giving the same exp as a level 140 one? After this it’s normal again or is there another wall?

Actually there a lot of mobs below level 100 that seems to have the same problem and don’t give a reasonable amount of base exp, class exp or both according to their levels. I can agree if some mobs don’t give exp but can drop good things, but even this is not working.

It seems that some mobs are bugged and even if they are one area higher, you need to defeat 3-4 to get 0.1% in exp while if you go one area before you only need to kill one to get 0,3% exp.

I created a new char and was level 24 and for some reason killing 1 lvl 12 jukopus and red kepas was giving me more exp than killing 2-3 20-30 vubbes or pantos mobs.

Well it’s a beta so it’s fated to have some bugs. Let just post this kind of things and hope to get change in the future.

i just freaking broke through the wall, linked a video on the other topic (the one i linked earlier)

Because of dungeon(in ternet garden).
Exp from mobs at Dungeon x20 times. Killing mobs has exp penalty while exp cards dont.

i like how you managed to explain it all simple and short, i always need long texts to explain whatever i have in mind XD

While waiting for my Beta key these days I spent some time reading about topics like this one about saving cards and stuff to ‘avoid mistakes’ later on, but I wonder if saving the Lvl 3~4 exp cards are worth it for me now, currently Lvl 72 grinding on Mausoleum CC, got ~220+ lvl 3 cards and about 100 lvl 4 so far with some quests missing.
