I’ve been recently away from the game for quite some time so bear with me if I misunderstand or am oblivious to some things.
With Rank 8 classes coming out, I’ve been thinking if Ranger 3 will benefit a SR more than the current Quarrel Shooter 3 commonly used nowadays? With SR C3 and the mentioned changes on SR skills (Forward Shot, Limacon being a buff instead, etc), SRs will probably be using SR skills most of the time instead of Running Shot, and Steady Aim will be more useful for SRs. Just trying to elaborate:
SR: With changes to Limacon into a buff, it will probably be like Running shot but with attributes and less attack speed, and with the inclusion of Forward Shot, SRs may not be using other skills that take time like Running Shot, and burst skills may be preferred instead.
Quarrel Shooter: Running Shot, Caltrops and Rapid Fire are probably the main reason to go QS, but with the Running Shot + Retreat Shot fix and SR3, Running Shot might not be used as much after Rank 8. The crit resist reduction from Rapid Fire will be missed though.
Ranger: I’m on the fence about this one since almost every veteran archer likes to diss on Ranger 3, but hear me out. Steady Aim looks like a good skill (sure it’s not 45% but 20% additional damage is still awesome) and helps SR skills more than QS would. The burst-y nature of Ranger skills may also be more suited for SRs since SR skills are becoming more of a duration buff instead of an attack skill, and skills I can unload fast may be more worth that Auto Attacking with Running Shot as a filler. On a side note, I’m trying to find out if Ranger 3 skills will remain relevant in late-game assuming attributes are maxed, which is something QS’s Running Shot does not have.
In the end, won’t SR benefit more with Ranger instead of QS assuming SR players invest all the way to SR3?
