As said in the title cause I’m planning for S1-HL2-Barb1-Pelt-Dop2 or S1-HL3-Pelt-Dop2
C2 is fine. You only lose a debuff that reduces Physical Defense to 0 and a slightly underwhelming single hit skill.
Every Circle has great new skills, so, picking them all is not wasteful in any means - just like not picking them all will not cripple your build, for them alone are good enough for their own.
Now, what Kiyoshiro referred to a “slightly underwhelming single hit skill.” will get buffed in tomorrow’s patch:
Vertical Slash
- Skill attack increased from 115 to 1218.
- Increase per level changed from 75 to 112.5.
- Damage increase per number of debuffs changed from 10% to 30%.
So, it won’t be meaningless anymore, and maybe it will just become the opposite: a must pick.
We have to test it first.
Now, your concern over Highlander3 or Highlander2>Barbarian1 is really recurrent and normal. I recommend for you to go to the “About Highlander C3” thread, if you didn’t already.
If you did, and still have this doubt, I can’t help you any further.
Thanks but Vertical slash was buffed recently, might be “okay” now =))
Thanks for refering a nice thread in regards to my question!
Even with the patch, I still find it underwhelming.
Its enough.
Please, answer me: Why you taking pelt on your build??
i have to agree,
the moment its a single hit skill, with only 1.6k dmg pretty is quite bad.
look at seism, it counted as single hit with 1.7k dmg and 70% modifier, really have no use beside the stun on higher level.
It will get 30% damage per debuff. In normal ocasions, you’ll probably inflict Crown, Skull Swing (gives another adtional damage, but undisclosed) and maybe Bleed.
That’s 2 or 3 constant debuffs, representing 1.7 or 2.2 times more damage.
But now, consider those heavily debuffed World Bosses, with, some times 9 or more debuffs inflicted - that’s a 10x damage multiplier.
Now let’s say that you have 800 PATK and the skill at lv5: the damage dealt to those bosses would be 25000 minimum (we don’t know what is the Skull Swing buff modifier).
Is it worth it? Idk, maybe yes, maybe no.
We have to test.
you know, “swash buckling”
I knew. I had to confirm…
Well, a entire rank for only that skill, good luck.
and parties later on, worth it.
I have 3 Reset Skills pots and will test it. I also have Cross Cut, Crown, Skull Swing and Zornhau (and stagg from Cross Guard)… 4 guaranteed debuffs = 1668+120%=3669 per charge, isn’t it?
About Peltasta, I agree with @kazamatenkai, but Peltasta has this attribute:
but guard is not viable now. sad
Oh, I almost forgot about the “nerf” X.X
Well, I’m not Peltasta at all =P
Yes, not to mention the evasion atribute, but I think that Swap weapons is very dificult.
I was about to take rodelero, so Press C is not worth anymore?
@Seraphica
I dont see the swash buckling as a bad thing on PvE, even if your build is not for tanking, but definatelly if your focus is PVP I dont recomend. Much better take Rodelero instead. At least you will have some debuff after press C. But as I saw, your focus is PvE.
That is my opinion. I dont think agro monster are essential, but I understand the good points of have that on the build.
whoa!! whoa!! whoa!! you gotta have atleast one barb circle because of the debuff to slash. this is what makes swordie dople make alot of damage in the long run especially with their strong myriad of slash skills zornhau, zucken, redel and cyclone. . Don’t take s1 h3 p1 dop 2, i recommend getting the s1 h2 p1 barb 1 dop 2 or the s1 barb3 h1 dop 2 which is very dps based but no swashbuckle unless rank 8 dopel is considered a viable dps class living up to the archer and wizard.
That attribute is referring to pressing C while equipped with a shield, known as Guard. The skill that got ‘nerfed’ is Guardian.
Anyway, I don’t think Highlander is a good pick at all, for a C2 or C3 class. Doppel beats it in damage - Seism will hit harder than Vertical Slash unless the target has a ton of debuffs, and Pouncing is a way better skill than anything HL has, plus you get Frenzy and Warcry to boost all of your damage more than Skull Swing will.
My Templar was a Highlander 3 and let me tell you, it was extremely painful to level up; and lategame your Highlander skills are all totally useless except skyliner against mobs that don’t resist crosscut, which turns out to be MOST of them.
For 2h builds, 1 circle of Highlander is good just to get Crossguard and the crit attack attribute. For anyone else, ignore it, it doesn’t exist.
Lvl 277 here, had no problems to level up, my skills doesn’t disappoint my parties and still finding a lot of mobs who doesn’t resist to bleeding.
It’s subjective, cause I know a lot of players who are glad with their Highlanders C2/C3 and you are just an exception.
And don’t forget to mention Cartar Stroke, the second highest damage of Highlander (of course, when we use it against plate type armor).
By the way, a curiosity: Keel Hauling’s bleeding affects every mob and also works with Sky Liner.
Bro I know what you mean but you leveled in an era where the swordsman str buff, increased hitbox and animation speed up were not yet introduced. Its not a paper 5% dps increased as what others have claimed I can assure you that. I leveled a barb to 175 back in the days and the experience The HL today is very different. I rolled a new swordsman the day the buffs came in and I’m very satisfied with the performance of HL. At the moment 227.
To OP:
I’m no doppel but rolling as a Pelt>HL3>Fencer2. Skull swing is freaking amazing for boss fights. My buddy is a hop2>cor2>Drag. In mission dungeon, just the 2 of us after applying skull swing, we are able to melt the golem under one min. This was with an afker and rainbow build pardoners that jumped around (gg matchmaking).
I am looking forward to the patch. It would be extra good dps button to drop in between cooldowns
