Improvement of stat mechanics (based on ICBT 2 experience)

Greetings Tree of Savior players and developers!

I already posted this in non-beta related feedback, but since im playing the ICBT 2 right now i’ll just put it here… I made a few changes too.

I’ve played now for a while and had a few ideas for improving the stat system, since it feels a bit frustrating to me getting just 1 Stat point after leveling for hours.


1. Make stats scale higher as they rise in value.

I think it would be better to give the secondary stats a boost when achieving a certain value of a primary stat.
Example: For every 10 int you’ll get a magical attack boost (something like 10Int:+5MATK, 20Int:+10MATK, 30INT:+15MATK… you get the point…).

Mechanics like these are much more motivating for the player, since you will get a better (and scaling) reward for putting time and effort in stat distribution,


2. Multiple stat points.

This would be an alternative to my 1. suggestion;
Its simple:
As the main level rises, give players more stat points
(Example: Lv 1-20 +1/per level, Lv 21-40 +2/per level, etc…).

Of course (if balanced) these two options could both be implemented.


3. Bonus stats for classes

This one is more or less implemented already (Example: 10% extra INT/STR for every class rank, as mentioned here)

Depending on what class the player picked it would be nice to have automated stat bonuses for each class as it is advancing in level.
It could be based on class level or circles.
Could be used in synergy with my 1. suggestion - utilize the class bonus to get to the right stat value to get a stat boost (as mentioned in 1.)

This could help players get a clue of possible stat priorities.


4. Percentage bonuses instead of additive bonuses

As a Wizard player i feel like INT scales by far not as good as CON or SPR (didn’t try other stats yet).

IF there won’t be stat boosts (as mentioned in suggestion no. 1):
The MATK bonus should be based on a percentage rather than just adding flat damage per INT.

I’d be happy to hear your thoughts about it, or if you have other suggestions on how to improve the stat system.
I hope my suggestions were comprehensible for everybody.

Maybe some are implemented already and i didn’t really notice yet.
With this thread, I just wanna point out what i’d like to see in the game, when it’s released!

PS: I just bought a stat reset and realized there are small boosts. You can’t really feel them in your gameplay though, i feel like they need to get buffed.

PSS: If there are good suggestions in the comments i’ll put im in the thread too.

What I would like to see is a system that would allow me to build different characters of the same class in different ways.
I don’t want to raise 3 wizards all with the same identical stats, in this case the stat point system becomes trivial.

What do you mean… There are several wizard buids possible in terms of stats, 2SPR:1CON is what i use atm while many players go for pure int or int/spr hybrid

I was just stating hypothetically.
i’m glad to see that unconventional builds are a thing, tho!
