IMC's connection with their community

I’m sure many people hate this game, but also want to see it improve and see how much potential this game really has to become something. I do too.
And because of that, considering I hope to one day work in concept art, character design, and lore writing, I wanted to help IMC and get my feet wet in this industry by giving them an extensive list of ideas that would make a 1-year or 2-year plan to make this game competitive and, therefore, prone to success. This is the ticket I sent to IMC:

I was really willing to give them many hours of my day to fix their game, for absolutely no profit. I wanted to do it as a passion to this game. To be a valuable part of the community and give my share. HOWEVER. What ensued with IMC’s (or their bot’s) reply was absolutely soul crushing. It showed me how much IMC REALLY cares about this game and its future. Here is what I got as a reply for my extensive ticket:

I understand I wanted to use their employee’s time, but isn’t that the point of improving this game? It’s supposed to be about listening to the community and improving according to what people want. Not only did I get a seemingly automated reply, but it lacked any interest in having a thorough exorcism of this game’s massive demons.

Sorry IMC, but you lost another follower. One that was willing to give his blood, sweat and tears for your product. It can’t be called a game anymore, because it lacks a passion. It’s a mere product.

Ok, now im actually trolling.

And all I can say is lol or hue or jaja.

This is, sadly, the sad truth. To them this game is just a product. It’s all about their earnings, and all their future plans is about how they can earn more money from the future updates. This is a business after all. There are few companies out there who actually manages and are somehow very good at balancing their costumer satisfaction/services vs money practices (e.g.:Blizzard).
This game really needs a lot of changes. There are lots of restrictions that prevents fun interactions with other people or friends, and tons of bots(Which we have no idea why they seem can’t spot them). I’ve reported so many bots but they seem to do nothing. I finally gave up trying to care about this game’s future.

you know IMC is made in Korea…just dont expect much, not trying to become racist…but if u are korea maybe they will listen to u…haha…well u can see how Ktos and Itos is treated…without player complain Ktos got much much much better treatment…right now Itos got improve treatment just because so many player complain…and it even consume a lot of time for them to respond…i dont surprise if your proposal got rejected tho…just dont hope to much from them…

Some poor Korean who only has a basic grasp of English probably stumbled through the first paragraph or so of your fat ass ticket and then gave up trying to understand it. You think the support team has anything to do with the game development? “We’ll forward this to the appropriate department” is the only thing they can say.

Although let me say this, the appropriate department probably doesn’t give a ■■■■ anyway. As someone who’s worked in the game industry I can tell you, it gets old fast when kids on the internet think they can do your job better than you can. Even if, in IMC’s case, they may be right.

I do not believe I am more talented than them. However, I wanted to set up a structure for them. They have absolutely none.

The way they handle the game is kinda like a leak on the roof. They have a bunch of leaks and they put a piece of tape to cover one up every few weeks, regardless of what it solves and likely only temporarily. They do not have the ability to focus on 1 problem and get rid of it completely

However, I do hope that I can do my job better in the future than what they have done. I wouldn’t want to be as incompetent as IMC. I’d rather quit my job than have the reputation they do

ITOS is second rate to the devs. You want them to listen, you gotta post in Korean on the Nexon boards because Korean is the superior language.

If you asked a girl for a date but you had forgotten to tell when would it be. The girl followed you then said “when is it?”

What would you do?

A: I dont you like you anymore because you dont have passion.

B: Cry in the corner how miserable your life is.

C: Tell the exact specifics like a normal human being.

Since we are playing TOS its normal to pick letter A because it is the most logical choice out there.

I explained what I wanted to accomplish, when I wanted to accomplish it, and how I wanted to accomplish it. All they had to do is look at it because clearly I cannot fit an extensive set of balancing plans in 1 support ticket, nor would they notice or pay as much attention to it.

Hum…
But their answer is actually all they can reply to you.
The person replying to tickets has no actual power, all they can do is translate and send a message to the devs and people in charge.
And those people won’t “waste time” writing a real answer to the ticket person.

I’m not sure what you were expecting, but yeah, basically the only thing they can tell you is to give them directly your suggestions and they’ll forward it, like they did. There’s nothing else they can reply as a ticket staff, they’re pretty powerless and it’s not their place to discuss developing systems or changes with you.

No you didnt.

-What exactly these classes?

-What is your suggested mechanics that is competitive to your taste?

-What queue? There is so many types of queue there, what is exactly that you wanted.

-What bugs are these that you yourself experienced?

-What balance? What are these items that needs balancing?

-AFK in TBL? Whats that?

I bet that your interest on this game is bigger than the people in charge of it

sorry dude but you got IMCed

@Kits00ne : I’m curious what you expected.
Imagine this : If you were the CEO of a company, would you put the entire fate of the game in the hands of some random guy who writes them via email “i have no experience in game design, but here is my 2 year plan about game design which you should follow”?
Passion alone is not enough for a company to trust you enough to put everything they have planned aside to implement your 2 year plan.

That being said : The answer you got is pretty much the best you could’ve hoped for. It’s essentially a “Please send us your suggestions. We’ll forward it to the proper department” and now you’ll have to wait whether they implement your ideas or not.
You can certainly not expect a “Of course sir, right away sir. Your suggestions have the highest priority, sir. We’ll do everything you say, sir, your suggestions will be implemented by next week sir”.

Not only does the support not have the authority to decide which suggestions will be considered for implementation, the whole process from “idea/suggestion” to “is implemented ingame” is usually a long one, because not only does the suggestions have to be translated to korean, then the dev team has to read it, they have to discuss it with their team and their superiors whether it’s worth implementing. If its worth implementing, they have to discuss how to implement it and how the time/ressource cost vs gain ratio is.

This whole process can take quite some time… some take a few days, some take months until everything is analyzed and planned, so the answer you got was pretty much the best they were allowed and able to give you : “Please give us your suggestions, we’ll forward it to the devs”.

So do what they told you : send them your suggestions and they’ll send it to the dev team. Whether your suggestions get implemented or not, only time will tell.

And even if your suggestions do not get implemented, that does not neccessarily mean that the team doesn’t care about suggestions or that you should take it personally, it just means they decided that your suggestions would not fit in their vision of the game/their plan for the game. But suggestions are always good, regardless whether they’ll end up in the final game or not.

You should rename the topic to "An example of a child with a huge ego throwing a hissy fit because IMC didn’t immidiately start working on his insanly vague ‘ideas’ ".

You sound like one of those kids who try to become apart of development teams or become moderators for free but don’t get accepted because of their ego. If you really want to join them Mr 19 year old you’ll apply for the position on their website with a proper application and degree instead of expecting a free job. Everyone has ideas and wants to contribute but nobody should expect “I’m worthy of becoming a dev cuz I got a good mindset”

Wow, I too have lots of ideas and suggestions for the game but all I can do is to share them in the forums as most of them are personal opinions of mine and have not gone through discussion and refinement.

@Kits00ne
Why not post one of your many ideas on how to improve on this game to the forums? It will act as a proposal to IMC too and if it really is good (as in garner lots of support and positive feedback) I’m sure IMC will take a good look at it and reply accordingly.

Like what @Sayurichan said, IMC’s reply is the best of what they can give you. It is kind of harsh to say IMC doesn’t care just because they sent you a reply like what you posted. They do care and if not they will have just give you a templated reply.

This seems to be something very misunderstood in the day I was gone.

I do not want a job within IMC, I do not want ALL my ideas to be implented

Most of all, I wanted someone at IMC to look over my stuff, and like I said on my last paragraph, give me feedback, and if I am lucky have something make it through. I know I am not very experienced. All I’ve done is make mods for many games and they have turned out well. So I simply wanted to get some criticism from someone within IMC for what I think the game needs.

My main problem was how little IMC cares about connecting to the community. That is all. They can handle the game however they want, but the community should be their core source of criticism and improvement

Changed the title to something less ambiguous. So that people quit thinking I’m asking IMC to piggyback off me or hire me.

My only interest was to offer help and receive criticism
