Tree of Savior Forum

IMC's Biggest Fault

Tree of Savior is a game that, no matter what, will target two very distinctive kind of players:

  • no matter how hard you guys from the staff try to say that ToS has nothing to do with Ragnarock Online the resemblence is plain for everyone to see so well… one part of the playerbase is obviously made of old RO fans and old mmo players in general… we’re talking about people that have lived trough a lot and have seen the good and the bad of a lot of things in mmos and, most of the time, have evolved their life from a “playing every single minute of the day” kind of life to a “having a family, working, playing to have fun” kind of life.

  • thanks to the graphic and the soundtrack of the game, the second half of the playerbase is made up of younger people that just wants anime style, “cute” things, disco music… and that by beeing younger and still beeing in the “I’ll play for days non stop in order to be the best AT LEAST in a game” life phase.

So we’re talking about two very differente target audiences that have been brought togheter by ToS particular design.

Before the game went into headstart everyone was getting along “kind” of fine because they had a common goal: “see ToS released”.

Here starts IMC’s faults:

  • announcing an OBT and then switching it into a 3 months headstart: as you guys from the staff already found out… that announcment did split the already splitted community into not 2… but 3 parts: the onest with the money insulting everyone else calling the poor paesants, the ones without money, the ones with moral rights… and created the first wave of fights in between the community.

  • reducing the mob density and respawn rate in game: this gameplay decision does NOT impact the game only… having so many enemies in a map means that people are encouraged to Kill Steal each other encouraging anti-social behavior… thus giving the youngest players that just want to rush to the top the means to obtain their goal by spoiling the fun for the other ones… thus creating more fights inside the community.

  • dungeon runs mechanic: easely exploitable, like it’s happening, giving people the chance to “rush” and ruin the run for everyone else… creating even more fights in between the community.

  • total lack of moderators and communication in the forum and in game: asy to see why this highly impact the community in a bad way… everyone can start even the most stupid of debates and totally disrespect others opinions with the stupidest argument ever… even the most patient of people would lose his/her temper on this forum at some point… i’m really not the most patient of people so i do a lot faster.
Even the in game chat is completely screwed and full of idiocy… but i guess it’s fine until you guys keep earning something from the megaphones… who care if it ruins the playerbase even more.
Damn you’re not even there to spend 2 MINUTES of time to say: this behavior is not accepted by the moderators… or “Kill Steal is ok to us” or “Kill Steal is NOT ok to us”… you just let everyone do as they please.

IMC… your game already targeted a splitted audience like it or not… your biggest fault until now, was to adopt such behavior towards your players and such gameplay mechanics as to encourage this already splitted playerbase to divide even more, creating a “figthing area” atmosphere all around ToS: be it in game or outside the game.

The playerbase you managed to create, even tho you said you care for the players, has a “toxicity level” second only to to games like League of Legend and this, THIS is what will make it impossible for this game to become succesful.

Let me explain what i mean by succesful:

  • a game that manage to sustain itself relying to a small niche of players is not a succesfull game… it’s an “ok” game.

  • a game that manage to go behond expectation, manage to sustain itself thanks to a great chunk of the playerbase, were players tends to come back and start play again after they left for a period… this is a succesful game.

Well at this point it really doesn’t matter which kind of changes you will do to improve the game because the atmosphere of the game itself is already in ruins an it was YOUR decisions gameplay wise and behavior-wise that ruined it.

I know for sure that even if you polish the game now i will NEVER come back just because of the community you managed to crate and i’m going to be leaving this forum for good because well… leaving it it’s the best decision to do “health-wise” because this forum have the potential to ruin “brain capacity” and makes people worse then they actually are or could be.

My prevision is that the reputatio of this community will spread like it already happened for other games… lot of players will leave the game for this or not play the game in the first place for it… but this doesn’t matter because you’ll still have a niche number of players, the main part of this problem, that will answer this post insulting me and saying “just leave” and stuff like this that will still keep you afloat until these very same players will manage to reduce the total playewrbase to such a small nuymber as to have their dream come true: a game were only they exist.

Oh well… i’m done with this forum and this game anyway… i did state in the past that i would check on the game status but no, i will not check on anything that has something to do with this playerbase.

Have fun everyone… if you wish to insult me in the comments please do so… i won’t be reading your comments anyway since i’m never logging into this forum again.

hey, rushing is acceptable. when we pre create our groups we tell eachother its a boss rush. plus sadhu is a class that needs arde dgger to be viable, im a sadhu. going through that 30 minte dungeon isnt fun.
i agree with everything else

dungeon rushes are good when you get tired of doing that same dungeon just for a specific item…

What he means is that high-level players will sometimes join the auto-queue and kill the boss despite the other players wanting to do the full dungeon.

Even though they can clearly solo it, they still join the queue for a party.

@Lostac
(Tagged you because I was replying to Tyler, and you basically said the same thing)

o, i didnt even know you can solo dungeons in the first pplace

You can, just click enter.
Same as if you have a pre-made party, just without being in a party. lol

I believe that was a case when entering dungeons normally triggered auto disconnection, those who are queuing up when it’s fixed are just douche bags.

Right now, idk if it’s fixed or not, got sick of entering and I pretty much got everything I need except petamions from dungeons so I just solo queue

o lol, idek that xD

I believe the OP was saying that, because you can ruin other peoples experience so easily that it’s poor design.

Queueing as a high level by itself is disgusting whether you do a full run or not, right?

I mean I remember last time I did with my friend he got significantly less exp, but that was cbt, something might have changed.
