IMC response to KR community's outcries

I apologize if anyone else covered this first, but at least on general discussion section, I don’t think anyone has?
Original can be found here: http://tos.nexon.com/community/tosnotice/view.aspx?n4ArticleSN=71
This was also brought to me by alclssha1029 on the TOS subreddit who provided some sources to find issues that the Korean community has encountered with the game and developers. I’m still working on the following but here’s the stuff that IMC is kinda replying to more or less: https://forum.treeofsavior.com/t/some-of-the-kr-responses-to-tos-release/126241

Allow us to inform you about information you have been curious about.

2015.12.29 2:47:06 PM

Hello, this is from Tree of Savior.

We want to inform you about several issues that everyone is curious about through this notice.

300 million silvers and silver acquisition problem

The 300million silvers that came to be known via the bulletin board’s screenshot was confirmed to be an edited image and upon investigating logs, the person in question was found to be in possession of one Arde dagger and we could not find any records of him attaining these silvers. (Final silver count at 290,000)

In addition, the mentioned player has records of spreading false information about how he was able to get information from company personnel for which he was given the 1st level measure for breaking the terms of operation (TN: probably equivalent to terms of service).

With this incident, he’s being given the 2nd restrictive measure and we’d like to inform you that we’ve given a 60 day ban.

If you change the time on the computer, the game system follows suit?

There were suspicions that changing the time on the PC OS can allow access for banned accounts or that it’d affect time it takes for weapon polishing.

In regards to this, all information that can affect in-game matters are all checked by the server so this kind of events can not occur and though there’s very minor instances in which a bugged client displays the wrong time, we would like to remind you once again that ultimately there’s no effect on the server that’s actually saving the data.

In the very few cases where the wrong client values are expressed, we plan on fixing the issue later on so that they’re not confusing while playing the game.

On the Youtube videos that confirm various usages of hacks and bulk silver acquisitions

Among videos observable on youtube and
여타(TN: have no idea what this stands for) communities, the video that showed bulk silver acquisition was in fact confirmed to be recorded on test server set at 20x drop rates and it’s not an issue that has occurred on the actual servers.

In addition others like the damage hack, or ones that ignore range limits are using a bug that was fixed immediately after it was reported, so reproducing it is impossible as of now.

We promise to monitor and respond swiftly to any additional hacks and illegal programs from here on.

Finally, we are continuously gathering logs related to illegal program users and we plan on
issuing mass bans when we have secured clear evidence so even if you are curious about the how we handle this process, we would like to ask for your patience.
Soon, we will inform you once again about this through another announcement.

About TOS silvers that is being circulated on real money trade sites.

There’s real money sites that are posting that they are selling 100s of millions of silver in-game but this was found to be a false offer and an attempt on fabricating market value and controlling economic balance.

Currently, the total silver count in possession of the richest person in the world is about 8.5 million silvers. The acquired silver amount that Oracle master confirms is not indicative of the currently possessed silver count and instead indicates the total earned after character creation so we hope there’s no misunderstanding in this regard.

On doubts about unannounced surprise patch

Priest’s ‘Mass Heal’ skill’s heal mount was lowered through the patch.

  • This was a problem that occurred based on comparison of test server information to information that was applicable since 12/17 of the Open Beta service.

XP card’s “Bonus Experience” was deleted from the tooltip.

  • “Bonus Experience” never existed in the first place so we’ve only corrected the tooltip.
We’d like to apologize to those who inquired customer service about XP Card bonuses and were incorrectly told that it was an in-game value error. (Edited 12/29 15:39)

We’re announcing all changes that can affect matters in-game and we will not have the surprise patches that you fear.

About measures taken against Roxona region bug exploiters

We would like to inform you in greater detail about the results of our measures regarding Roxona agency east region bug exploiters, which we informed you along with the December 28th (Monday) update announcement.

We’ve issued 60 day bans on total of 10 people who exploited the bug as we mentioned in our last announcement and their names and silver acquisitions are as follows.
(TN: Refer to the original link HERE or at beginning of this post for the table. Kinda hard to miss it. I wasn’t sure how to format it in this post so, I’ll just translate going row by row from left to right. Also, yes those names seem to be partially censored. )

Server | Team Name | Silver acquired
Auschrine | *풍 | 7,953,476
“” |프 | 7,504,493
" " |달
티| 6,902,576
“” | 즈 | 6,034,399

리 | 3,931,917
Vakarine | *유 | 8,110,077
“” | ce**sa | 7,747,457
“” | 서 | 7,544,596
“” | 토
루 | 6,763,444
“” | *코 | 6,654,003

  • This information is based on data from 12/28 (Monday) 7:30 AM.

For the above accounts, we have issued bans and we have also confiscated all their silvers and we proceeded with additional consuming spots (TN: grinding spots?) special training and enhancements were returned to norm. (TN: Uh… I don’t get what I translated after “additional” and whether I translated correctly. I apologize folks, but seriously who speaks like this?)

Furthermore, there was no evidence that these acquired silvers were used for market trade so we’ve confirmed that this did not affect game economy as you so feared.

In addition, we’ve confirmed many records of farming on Roxona region aside from these ban recipients. However, there were significant differences in silver/XP gains and in the case of the featured exploiters, we’ve also considered their conduct in misleading other players on the forums and proceeded with the bans.

We thought it would be too harsh to establish bans simply based on the fact that you have farmed at Roxona region, so we’ve internally established standards as listed above to issue bans and thus we hope there’s no misunderstandings regarding this point.

Finally we want to inform you that though there may have been stories about how company personnel recommended team names and gave the ability to name change to ban recipients, but there’s absolutely no basis on truth for them.

We admit that we’ve been insufficient in our communication about our handling process after starting the Tree of Savior Open Beta service and for that we’d like to sincerely apologize.

Thank you.

As i can see at least they are looking into it, just to confirm, is it directly from IMC or is it from Nexon?

Pretty sure the damage hack is the fact its possible to get access to the GM menu even though they probably disabled the bug I reported on the forums about hidden frames since the check for GM is still clientside.

^ If anyone cares for a read in detail about it

Only 8 million? Doesn’t making a guild cost 10 million? Aren’t there a bunch of guilds already, or was that on a test server?

The 8 million does not include silver spent. It’s just the amount that player currently has.

There isn’t even one alchemist selling potions… a bunch of guild = a bunch of C7 templars, I think we’re still far from it… (you most likely saw somthing on test servers)

Seems like they don’t mention the party exp range ninja patch addition/removal eh…

open forum like website i.e toscamp, blog naver, inven

Impossible to read something with such a horrid layout. The font hurts my eyes on that background.

About time. Now people can just focus their QQ on the cash shop so it stays with Nexon in Korea. Or things that mater. Not bugs that are obviously high priority for QA and the engineer team already. We haven’t even gotten a date for our release and people are balling about things that are going to get fixed well before the game gets to us.

incorrect, stop spreading misinformation.

I imagine it’s really from both. The notice itself was posted on the nexon website but that is the official website where the official announcements, downloading the game, etc. etc. happen, I believe.

Ah i don’t think its from IMC exactly, what i mean is, since its under Nexon’s care (and which i believe is in their contract with IMC) they have to report the errors to IMC, i would doubt IMC would pronouce through their (Nexon) website, but we never know, but either case, the important part is that the fixes are being done and applied.

The share was introduced on the 28th Dec.
On the same day, there was an emergency maintenance to make the level penalty work correctly again

this ‘response’ is posted on 29th, i wouldn’t say it is hiding since it was documented for both instances - but it has been hidden in plain sight because of players focus on the roxona silver accumulation

I don’t think they address the situation VIP feature directly mischief yet or did they?

Banning people for photoshopping an image and the said person already said that it’s a photoshopped image

I… don’t really know what’s going on anymore. Apparently we can get banned if the community don’t believe that we are photoshopping an image.

While the users maybe deserved to be banned for some real reason, stop hiding the real reason and giving out funny excuse, this really make community doubt your decision.

He’s intentionally misrepresenting facts.

‘Look at me! I know a glitch and am abusing it lol.’ Banned.

Funny that they don’t give any response about the cash shop :x

This is totally incorrect. Based on your answer, I suspect you have no idea how things really work.
Indeed, there is a “isGM” check client-side that makes appear more or less functionalities, but bypassing this check doesn’t give your account GM priviledges. It only makes appear some interfaces and buttons which does no effect server-side when you click on it, because the server checks your priviledges and don’t assume you’re a GM only because you claim to be it.

I would agree on his ban if that user didn’t clarify that this is a photoshopped picture at the end.
