IMC, If you would ever decide to nerf Running Shot, read this

First of all i don’t think Quarrel Shooter is OP, with RS you gain good mobility and decent single target, however almost zero AOE.

But IMC, if you ever decide to balance it, do not simply nerf it.
The only OP thing here is its scaling with ranks.
Each rank grants 40% damage and 2 seconds uptime. This is too overpowered.

It forces us to look for items with + skill lvl to Quarrel Shooter abilities.

Example is - Didel Grand Cross.

Every archer will be forced to use this weapon because of Running Shot scalings. It is no brainer.

My idea:

1 Rank Running Shot:

  • Duration: 25 seconds
  • Attack Speed: +30%
  • Additional Damage: 160%

2 Rank Running Shot:

  • Duration: 25 seconds
  • Attack Speed: +30%
  • Additional Damage: 170%

And so on. On 5 lvl we will be still having +200% damage, 30% aspeed and 25 duration (+2 second is a compensation to nerf).

This change will lead us to have more weapon choices.

Curious to know what level you are to make this suggestion.

Soon i will be 473, need to grind a bit.

Well, you aren’t wrong in that the game forces the weapon. You are asking for a huge nerf though.

At end game with maxed attributes, skill based classes like Fletcher will just outright out damage Quarrel Shooters. Basically no contest since Running Shot doesn’t have an attribute to increase its damage nor do auto attacks themselves have an attribute.

The extra 80% from +2 weapons don’t even keep you competitive once people have the tens millions to dump into attributes.

This isn’t a problem right now since the level cap is 280 and the Didel Grand Cross is basically an end game weapon at requiring 220. I would say right now Quarrels might actually have an advantage over the others due to the nature of the Didel Grand Cross.

Later on though when the level cap increases…will they introduce new weapons with +2 Quarrel skills though? If they don’t introduce new weapons with that, then it will almost never make sense to upgrade from the Didel Grand Cross to another weapon due to 80% damage of your body being probably more than the increase in damage from a higher ilvl weapon.

Guessing that is where you are coming from in that QS builds might be screwed in the future when other classes get stronger weapons but QS archers will be forced into a level 220 one.

I just don’t think that nerfing the damage of Running Shot scaling to be the right choice.

Honestly instead of nerfing prevailing class combinations, they should focus on bringing underplayed / underpowered classes on equal footing.
It seems that’s what they’ve been trying to do in recent kToS patches anyways.

QS3 is only powerful short-term because it requires no attribute investment to max out damage. However, when other classes have already spent their dozens of mils on attributes and have tons of high tier skills on their rotation they are able to grow far past it.

Besides, as mentioned above you are locked into a lv 40 weapon until you can get a very rare untradeable 220 one. When they release new content, they could also decide not to make new weapons of its type.

I do think QS3 is still a good path for the future though. Eventually there might be skills in the later ranks that outclass anything we have now, but you’ll still have a solid basic attack to fall back on.

Good luck getting a Didel Grand Cross, it’s non tradable and only obtainable from Lv240 Saalus Convent mission.

Someone in ktos is keeping count of their Saalus cube results.

They reincarnate the boss and have spent 34.4m so far on rerolls. They have not gotten a Didel.

Most QS3 players will not obtain it without some unreasonable determination and/or luck.
