IMC deleted the announcement talking about the Open Beta

Bait-and-switch. I hope IMC says… something soon. This is looking really bad.

I think they intend to start a new server when F2P goes online. Also this isn’t really a race, as there’s no end game content made yet.

The Founding server will likely just be that… a founding server, with founders and a much smaller population in the future.

@razuhiko
Yea most people are pissed not because of the pay to access but because they were expecting a FREE unrestriced OBT. That’s more because of a poorly managed announcement than their choice of raising funds though.

Hopefully. Greed makes people do stupid things though, so I’ll definitely be expecting transfers to all the servers, just so I’m not pissed when it actually happens.

You know, as well as I that most of these p2p players are in it for a chance to p2w while they can.

You’ll notice the disappointed crowd if they decide not to allow transfers or anything like it.

Technically this isn’t a bait and switch because they did not obtain any financial gain from the player base yet. It’s more accurate to describe it as an announcement that didn’t follow through precisely. They announced an OBT but instead offered an Early Access OBT with the real OBT in June.

It’s up to you to get angry over that or not. Personally I think its reasonable as IMC is probably short on funds + the game is really really incomplete yet.

@Skygrinder
Let’s be pissed when it actually happens, and live in bliss until conclusive evidence proves otherwise. I’ll pay for Early Access but I disprove of P2W or character transfers. So that’s 1 less of those P2P players you have to worry about.

Whoever maxes out first and reaches OBT’s end game will potentially control the economy. Also imagine if I rush Pardoner C2 and be the first one to sell buffs.

It IS a race whether you participate or not. [quote=“CookyKim, post:73, topic:145293”]

So the people who invest in the game early gets the shorter end of the stick; how much sense does that make? o.o

You’re trying really hard to paint IMC in a positive light when they’ve been dishonest, lacking communication, covering up things now, and have mislead players.

Or i’m just giving the benefit of the doubt. IMC doesn’t have a past track record of “cash grabs” and this is not their first game.[quote=“KingSponge, post:76, topic:145293”]

I don’t know. It isn’t supposed to. Who will pay $50 for an unfinished game unless it’s a donation. If it’s a donation why do you care if it makes sense or not?

I agree how they did it is pretty lame, but I also think they needed to get rid of the advertising for something they were no longer offering us.

It would have been better to replace references to open beta with an acknowledgement that open beta was part of the plan, but that it has been replaced by this early access crap.

That would have been pretty bad reputation though… for people who didn’t know about the OBT at all.

It is only the short end of the stick if you do not like lower population servers. Lower population servers typically have a much stronger sense of community. So if you like that, it could actually be the… long end of the stick?

That is also assuming that the Founder’s Server even will have a lower population, which at this point is only speculation.

Kappa face?

The announcements are both still there for me…

And you are trying really hard to make IMC look like a dishonest, greedy, deliberately evil corporation when all they did was announcing a OBT that didn’t fall through for various reaons.

Meanwhile completely discrediting all the hard work of developing first class game assets and BGM, providing good communication through dev blogs, timely forum announcements, friendly & helpful GMs in CBT, caring enough about game quality to decide to avoid partner publishes as much as possible, taking many polls for player prefences (text + forum design comes to mind), prior successful development of game titles without resorting to cash grab tactics.

It’s really up to you what you want to see and believe.

Looks like they removed the soon post since its no longer soon?

They have a date now.

What exactly would they have been covering up?

Then why did they wait until there was a huge forum backlash before they removed the post? You usually don’t remove announcements.

That’s true, I find it odd to remove announcements. Maybe to not confused new players?

Either way, there’s nothing to cover up here when the prices and dates are there.

And what about current players who have gotten absolutely no news about server merging, trading features or even cash shop features? They are asking people to pay $50.00 USD. There should be tons of information on what to expect. We’ve gotten very little information about iToS.

All very true, and I really hope they give us that info.

But that’s unrelated to the topic.

True. But like you said, it is odd to remove announcements. You usually have supplementary announcements to clarify. They are clearly trying to hide the fact that the Open Beta was even a thing.

Sigh

Why am I even still here?

I’m not even mad, to be honest. I’m just sad about the whole situation. There’s just 0 appreciation for the old beta testers, they are not even apologizing for not allowing us to play the game, giving no explanation for the shitty deal, they know it’s a shitty deal, everyone knows it’s a shitty deal and they should say something about it. MAYBE they need that money, maybe, but you don’t leave your players in the dark about it. I actually regret testing and reporting bugs now. It just all feels very ungrateful and greedy and just…[insert bad feeling here].

But they’re not though, there are dates for OBT/early access on the announcement post, with prices.

Sure a lot more things need to be clear, but there’s no hiding or back pedaling going on. All the info is out there, the soon is clarified with a date.

I will agree they are doing a very poor job of communication though. Which leads to things like this.
