IMC and Liveops

Hear my words - this game wont last long not because of lags or trade restriction, but wrong liveops strategy.
Whats going on at the moment is total disaster - whole IMC Community Support team goes to weekend while community raging, game is unstable badly, Steam reviews goes down from 85% to 67%. I think you would agree with me, that after game release there is should be support team which works 24/7 at least 1 month after EA. And this means only one - IMC does not have scaled enough and fully prepared team to support this game!

FYI: Just to bring some parallels - at this weekend in other online game (EVE online) goes a huge war between players corporation. Over 3k players in one place fighting each other, servers unstable and guess what?.. freaking support team goes to the freaking work at night and keep communicate with players while backend dev team works with servers scaling. And guess why they do that? Because they want to keep player’s experience in their game as top notch!
Thats what calls Liveops in game development, it is a sign of competence and good strategic planning! And that is what IMC does not have.

UPD: its 66% already

UPD2: 65%… keep enjoying your weekend IMC

UPD3: 64% ^^

UPD4: 61%

the thing is you have no information on what the Devs are doing this sounds more of a assumption in a comparison to a more established game that would throw off the numbers in comparison the thing is this game is barely 1 week old and the dev team are most likely already stressed dealing with dozens of issues give them some damn time stop expecting things to work from the beginning.

Erhm, the game is not 1 week old. It’s already out in Korea for a while and honestly , these issues and etc… Most of them shouldn’t be problems from the beginning.

Op is right… If a game’s popularity drops that much, it means something. Stop playing the white knight.

Okay first of all do you know how things are even coded and programed because Korea system and that of the system in translation and such are completely different thus they have to recode some core aspects to make it run on a international operating system thus bugs will appear if they was fixed on the KTOS please do some research before telling me about bugs/problems.

Secondly he done the popularity on a % base not a fixed number do you understand how % work they can be the same % but have different amounts of input ill leave a shiny example for you.

10 people = 100%
100 people = 100%
10/100 = 10%

See now that I’ve blown your mind you can stop using the silly white knight comment its sad to call someone that just because you result to it as you lack any insult ammo…

The Op is basing his information on assumptions and statistics that can be manipulated very easy for instance try viewing the amount of people playing the game on steam when the game started EA it was at 34k now its hitting almost 50k at peek times and also take into account from other mmos they will claim a game is bad or dying yet continue to play it…

So if you are going to call me a white knight then your sheeple you lack the factor to do your own research but you follow someone because you cant think for yourself.

EvE has years of experience of running servers with stress load. EvE arguably has much more money and infrastructure built over the years. Are you trying to suggest that professional team with resources solves problems better than smaller team without experience? Why don’t you compare early EvE days when it was much worse.

Publishing game is not the same as developing game. These are two completely separate matters. And requires different experience and different resources.

Yes its bad that IMC couldn’t handle everything perfectly. But it’s less than 1 week since early access started. If you judge EvE on the same scale, I am sure we can find some problematic few days in the past of the EvE. Is it fair judging EvE only by these few bad days? I am sure you will find excuse to it.

Athem, game is out in Korea. But the one handling things is Nexon, not IMC. Its irrelevant how long ago game is out in Korea if IMC only provides basic game and has nothing to do with publishing it.

The point is - Community Support goes to weekend while player community is stressing out. Not a single word during 3rd day. This mean only one thing - IMC does not have enough scaled team to support this game, and first days after release is supper important to keep community healthy.

Honestly, I was going to write a long answer and I was like: “What for? This guy is a fanatic.”

Then why dont we compare current state of the game to iCBT2 when game did lag badly at start, loot delay, skills involving item usage (Blessing) not working and locking character from using any other skills for a while. But it had way less progression (quest) and stability issues and was much more enjoyable experience overall.

I agree with you on that one this is why I worry for the IMC staff the stress they are dealing with if it is a small team must be insane that is why I choose to support them all the way that and unlike others I want the game to successed not point out every fault because another mmo that is more established did it better I understand the realistic matter at hand here.

Yes Athem I am a fanatic of my passions of what I enjoy that’s the type of person I am is that something to be ashamed off?

Yea well, I think they are just employees. Generally, employees don’t care at all about the company. They want to get the work done and go home.

That sort of mentality is the reason they think like that… understand that if you treat those employed with respect a simple thank you or concerning factor can at least make them happy and in turn they will feel to put effort into there jobs I know this from working with other members of staff that when a customer thanks them or sends a letter to our work place with a thank you note they tend to work a lot harder and happier the problem with customers these days they always demand the impossible done and when its done there is not even a simple thank you just a sarcastic remark that makes you feel even more shitty for doing it.

Staff are still humans and they still have feelings.

Thank them for what? Being afk 3rd day?

how do you even know that? do you have the evidence because for all you know they could have been busy with other things dealing with private message’s that need to be dealt with or maybe in a meeting with other issues to contend with in preparation for those meetings this is only a number of a few things that could be of the top of my head.

Think about it the game is going EA the last thing they want to do is sit there absent minded but rather read up on the list of concerns and issues presented in a predictive matter or that are current.

That sort of attitude is just going to end up making them not give a damn about you muse333.

I know that because there is not respond from Community Management Team so far. That’s simple.

Wait so your telling me the only evidence you have is because there not responding every farting 5 mins to the community wtf is this a talk show? dude if there not talking there most likely busy with other matters then sending a message to the community…

You remind me of a customer I had the other day demanding to go into the show being turned away every 5 mins then kicking up a fuss because I cant manipulate time and space for a response they desired because they was 30 mins early to a show that had yet to kick out.

No, you wrong. Its a world wide practice to have COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT responding on every fart while other staff working on technical stuff.
It’s calls “operating the game after release” and “keep healthy community”

PS: Go google some PDF presentation from 2014 year GDC game conference about Operating Games Best Practices

you do know every company works differently right and that PDF presentation is more like a statistic and set of guidelines based on statistics?

Do a simple google search on anything that has “best” and it will give you a list of “bests” each contradicting one and another on how it is the best and everything else is considered the worst with loose information on statistics that they have based on a very little number of things.

The reason I say very little is because lets put it out there does that Operating games best practices contain the list of games developers from indy to Tripple A from the beginning of video game history because if its not then it could very well be biest the reason I also say that is because of this.

They said no indy developer could ever match a triple A company guess who proved them wrong a little guy named Notch creator of minecraft dominated a triple A company best selling game and he did not even have a huge budget or team he had an idea that is all it took and now gaming has changed thanks to him with way more indy company’s out there.

Who’s to say the people who work on the community management part also do programming for the game because ideal for a company is have its staff deal with multiple roles means less staff to hire less outgoing on money think about it this would be primary for a F2P game due to they lack the income from the outside to begin with.

I think the game was simply not ready to be released yet.

We had the same bugs and issues in iCBT2… Who the hell releases a game after a closed beta is proven completely buggy? They needed at least 2 more closed beta tests to fix errors and guarantee game stability.

When you’re a small team you take long to release your stuff because you know you can’t “fix them on the run”.

64% meanwhile… ^^

you do understand they don’t have unlimited money right and you do understand industry economics right ill lay it out for you.

Longer it takes to bring out a game the less money you make simple hype lasts only so long as does interest but you must admit every game that has a EA has its fair share of issues to be honest when it comes to how smoove things went this game has far by been the smoovest in my eyes.

No error 37 or down for the hole day just down for 4 hours that’s all and there rarely is any ques anymore cant speak for other servers but I already up to lv 120 few bugs here and there and ive only ever crashed 2 times try to look at the positives rather then treating it like a sinking ship.
