I'm really tired with all that comparsions with RO and whine

You guys need to understand 1 thing - this is not RO and shouldn’t be like RO. Some similarities and same graphics is already enough. I literally hate when people complaining about “omg this is so newschool so many quests I just wanna grind all day”. No one told you that this game will be a RO clone with good graphics and if you wanna farm Mi Gao 24/7 like “good old RO was” u should just uninstall this game immediatly and go play good old RO on any open server.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of old RO but I realise that the game like oldschool RO with all the hardcore and grind will simply not sell nowadays, Niche audience of hardcore players is just not enough nowadays. And furthermore, if you hate quests you can grind all day in this game. And even the quests here are not that boring, a lot of funny quests like “turn into mob and speak with other mobs”.

I also would like to remind you that in RO-Renewal they tried to make the same quest-based system with Eden quests. Because they realised that oldschool MMORPG model doesn’t work anymore.

And how can you even say that “this game is nothing new”. Please show me the game with that deep class system and combinations for character building, or the game with the same visual as RO but with good modern gameplay or with same battle mechanics which a hybrid between “target” and “non target”.

You guys pretty sure that this is a “grinding game like old RO”. It’s not. It’s a modern mmorpg which inherit RO graphics and style, some grinding between quests for old fans and some other features. If u wanna play RO u should play RO while others will enjoy a good new game.

Your facts shows that you aren’t even reading their post, or even try to understand what they try to say.

What most people is asking, is for a game that’s as fun as Ragnarok Online, not a game that’s like RO. Get your fact straight.

When people feels that it’s not fun, it’s not fun. No amount of persuasion but improvement in gameplay can change their opinion. If you trying to say, if you don’t feel that this is fun, don’t play, great, go ahead and kill this game. When there are this much peoples that’s complaining about the game not being fun (to the point you are making a post out of it), this game is done for if this problem is not being fixed.

It’s hard to say as this is CBT, but the features shown so far is really lacking. The 2 speciality of this game is just the class variety and boss battle, nothing more. Gameplay wise, it’s still kinda flat.

When the ToS creators literally say this isn’t an RO successor in any way and they don’t want others to think of it like that, that’s enough reason for me.

Are you a RO lover? because gameplay wise/mechanic wise this game is 10000x better than what RO was after having 12 episode updates.

If you arent, what game would you compare the gameplay to, to say its lacking so much?

sorry just to test this post if is working

I see “this game is not as fun as Ragnarok” same as “This game is not Ragnarok”. Or maybe you think Ragnarok will be same fun for new gamers as it was for people who played it in 2000’s? No it will not. And in my opinion the ones who really kill the game is that people who complain about “not RO” everytime. There are plenty of ppl who enjoys the game as it is, they just don’t spam so much on forums and reddit, cuz why would you do a forum post to just say “hey I really like the game”, right? So we have that illusion that everyone wanna “good old RO fun”.

Let’s not compare it to RO. Compare it to MMO like Maple Story (maybe childish to some, but it’s a great game design), or even Single Player game like Skyrim.

Well sht, now you have 2 games with much better features and gameplay except maybe the class selection.

Mechanic wise, are you even serious with all this shallow formula?

10000x better?

It’s utterly ■■■■■■■ generic. It borrows all the significantly shitty mechanics of modern mmos, including quest linearity.

@ikorsunsky5

So we have that illusion that everyone wanna “good old RO fun”.

Did you stop reading the Wiki article where Kim Hakkyu’s name was mentioned? Don’t be ignorant.

It’s just your opinion. I personally think that this game is much more interesting than mapplestory. I’m not saying that one game is better than another, they are just different. And why would you even compare single-player game to MMO?

I think people just default to comparing this game with RO because that’s how most people were introduced to the game. In a way, you can blame the way this game was marketed/rumors were spread. What did they call it again…“the soul successor to RO?”.

Whatever it was, it’s just easy for people to discuss game elements by comparing it to a game everyone here is familiar with, and I can be darned sure that 80% of everyone here has played RO or know of it.

But isn’t obvious that certain people don’t seem funny? I read people complaining about the grind, others for questing others for bosses, and only some for the core of the game. That tells us that TOS is a blend of old and new in terms MMORPG, and for my taste does well, obviously considering their stage of development and the relevant failures.

Is impossible not to notice the bad impressions of some players, but the high number of players that nevertheless continue to fill the servers, tells us that many people are having fun.

I would not like wow and find it boring, it has hundreds of others’ opinions

This game has very good material, but requires a sustained and steady development.

So… if I read that Yoshinori Kitase was working on a new RPG game, should I expect it to be like FFVII? Rofl. Just because they share the same director/someone that worked on the project doesnt mean the game is going to be the same. Stop being naive.

And no, the gameplay doesnt feel generic at all to me. Do i feel that grinding vs questing should be balanced? definitely. But I’m enjoying all the hidden mechanics+combos this game has.

Edit:

GUESS WHAT, Yoshinori Kitase worked as the producer of both FF VII and FF XIII, 2 games that are completely different gameplay wise and mechanic wise. Things change over time lol.

It was never marketed like that by IMC. Kim Hakkyu explicitly said this game is not like that at all and should not be called that lol

Yeah but that’s how word-of-mouth spread news of the game. Don’t blame IMC. Blame the normal folks :stuck_out_tongue:

You are talking rot, my friend.

I just wonder what else “shitty mechanics” it borrows? And if you remove quest linearity people will not play this (except “super hardcore grinding fans” like you), because this is how the moder game-design works. In RO-Renewal episodes they also included Eden quests which was basically the same thing.

And about the same director, this is just hilarious cuz it doesn’t mean anything.

Care to explain? give arguments? Or do I’ve to teach you how to argue. I’ve played every mmo out there(played RO for 12 years) so please, argue with me. Show me you are right with facts that arent subjective. Point to me how this game fails(not talking about linearity/balance/bugs/crashes/client errors). Talking about gameplay and in game mechanics.

Did you provide arguments to support your statement? Why should I then?

I do agree that this game has alot of space for development. But as for now, out of people that rushed for the close beta, there are many peoples who complained that this is not fun (comparing the amount of white knight to haters).

I really wonder what’s the marketing target of this game. Most of the people that’s attracted to this game is definitely RO’s lover, but many felt that this game couldn’t match up to RO, and probably will not stay if this game doesn’t improve during open beta.

This game is definitely not attractive to those having shallow 3D>everything mindset, which left us with a smaller amount of playerbase.

This game is definitely not for casual as for current. Which is scary considering casual is actually the one keeping the cash user in game (to impress their friends).

The trader type player will definitely not be playing this game as it’s obvious that this game don’t welcome trader.

I’m doubtful for the game future. I’m afraid now.

Oh please tell me features in this game that will actually attract people from other MMO to play, apart from the class variety and boss battle.
