I'm a Doppelsoeldner with no Peltasta. Should I just stop playing?

thrust feels like a basic attack to me with some slightly added damage. but thats just me tho. you can drop gung ho for lv3 bash and some extra pain barrier.
reason for my build is that DoV gets bonuses from warcry and frenzy as well.

Actually, you just reminded me of a question I have, and I’m wondering if you could answer it.
Does Frenzy’s stacks proc from skill? Like, if I hit something with a skill, do I get the buff from Frenzy?

im not sure but from what i found digging through the swordsman section people say it does.

Warcry is probs good at lvl 1 or lvl 3 as a soft taunt.

Just wait for balance patches.

I find that to be a very unsatisfying answer. We don’t know for sure what balance change may come in the future. If anything, your answer just raises more questions, such as: What to do in the interim? What if these patches never come to satisfy? How long would it be until anything other than tank swordsman is considered viable?

If you wanna play meta then play meta. If you like your build then just stick with it unless you really feel you messed up. If you are curious about what might happen check kTOS patches for what could happen. They keep balancing more than here as they are more stable. Had you read the first QA section they said they would apply kTOS patches after kTOS recieves feedback from their balances.

Are you strength or dex?

If you’re dex, you should reroll.
If you’re strength, it’s not like you won’t get groups. Swashbuckling is nice to pull in mobs, but sometimes they just sit there with retarded AI, and you have to run to get them.

Also, you can just make the group. It’s not like you would go from 10mil/hour to 2mil/hour without it.

I can’t help you with alemeth grind (though I never did it, I just slowly missioned my way past it) but once you hit evac/storage range, you’re welcome to join my group if nobody will nab you and you’re on Klaipeda. i mean we barely ever grind because we’re lazy but if someone wants to, it could happen.

Honestly, I don’t think people need to be optimal for normal grind unless you plan to crunch really fast through all the channels, which haha I hate channel switching. It’s just elitism that pushes non-pelts out of party. Our cataphract does fine with mobs.

tl;dr if you’re a klaipeda lad and you ever need a group later on and don’t mind a suboptimal one throw inner tubes at us or something

you don’t need it. If anyone not pt you because you not have 1 rank of peltasta just told them to go to fk off

No like mykel stated dont let the elitists choose your path as chakri have said find people who are willing to take you in but unfortunately this didnt work out for me well as I want to play pure dps melee but cant deal a decent amount of dmg opt me to switch to archer class and now having fun with the ranged aoes and high dmg bursts IMO take a break read and learn and decide what you wanna do in the end its all up to you

there’s no reason to gimp your build just to be accepted in parties. seriously everyone has to stop going “no taunt no party”. it turned luxury into a necessity. taunt is nice and all but it my not be optimum in some swordsman builds. if they don’t want you, someone else will. i play as a cleric and i seriously don’t care who my members are as long as they are not a burden, sure swordsman may not be as strong as archers but i’ve encountered alot of archers who just flat out die before i can chase them with my heals, swordsman on the other hand always survive and the smart ones block on the right time. i’d take a swordsman without taunt over an archer that dies when an enemy just farts at them any day. but not all archers are bad. but the one that do die are usually archers. but do archers gimp their dps to not be a burden? no they don’t. those archers that don’t put any dex at all, you can probably have a base con of 50-100 and you’ll still be good dps. elementalist do that and still function well and they aren’t dying. so why aren’t they getting some con. if no con atleast have some hp boosting gear or something.

In my Opinion I don’t think it matters cause there are other new Jobs coming and maybe you wouldn’t need to be peltasta.

Hello friend. I have the best build that also includes pelt.

I highly recommend you go this build. Please don’t go highlander at ALL because it is USELESS. It will only hurt you endgame. Go pelt INSTEAD because you’ll become more useful at ALL stages of the game. Highlander will prob only help you solo more but it’ll fall off around level 110-ish.

I’m actually getting kind of sick at all the people on this forum with their misguided horrible advice telling people to go highlander right off the bat and skip pelt entirely. Aditionally, I’m getting sick of all the people telling you to go dex build (really?) also since it provides absolutely nothing for swordsman except for a little crit here and there. Dex is useful for pvp though, I suppose.

the reason for gung ho and concentrate is because with max attributes those give better damage than thrust. but its probably best to drop those for more pain barrier. but thats swordsman 1 tho. thrust feels like a normal attack with +116 damage and it cost sp every use the attribute which causes thrust to hit twice has way too low of a chance to proc. maybe it won’t be that bad with max attribute damage. but it still feels like a waste of sp. but the +1aoe ratio isn’t too bad and its pierce too. could be used to swiftly kill weak mobs. its probably best used as a one point wonder.

This doesn’t help me at all. Did you even read the thread?

Thrust has synergy with Cross Guard, resulting in roughly double the damage from Thrust. I also have Thrust: Enhance at level 50. My understanding of Enhance is that it’s at the end of the formula.

While my regular attacks are hitting for around 500, Thrust is hitting for 1,000. With Cross Guard’s effect, Thrust hits for roughly 2,000 each, pre-critical. The multi-hit from Thrust adds around 500 more damage, but happens with negligible frequency… still, it’s a nice boost when it does happen. It also gives much needed pierce damage. Combined with no cooldown, low SP cost, and it’s Enchance being significantly cheaper than later skills, it’s reliably been a large portion of my damage output.
