I'm a Doppelsoeldner with no Peltasta. Should I just stop playing?

I heard any content past a certain point requires the swordsman be at least Peltasta 1. I’m rank six now, and it’s going to be a looooong time before rank 7. Is there any hope, or should I just uninstall?

Because not all players research metagames from over-seas versions before playing.

U could take pelt1 rank7 and use rank8 for something u want in future. Not like any rank7 really going to make swordie wanted.

Uninstall to get better at trolling sounds like a fair idea.

This is an honest question.
Edit: typo

The ONLY good thing in petalsta is the skills Swash Buckling that call the monsters to hunt you, you dont have to be a tank

I am a MONK. But I’m getting tired of everymap see a minimum of one monk (a minimum). Everybody is doing a monk now, the game will be: “Tree of Monks” haha. So if I decide to give up, I will do a doppel, I love because characters as Beserk and Zack Fair/Genesis (FF crisis core).
Following that my build will be:

  • Swordsman (no choice).
  • Highlander 1 - The NPC Highlander Master will give you atributes of crit.
  • Barbarian 3 and Doppel 2 = True moves of the a swordsman fighter.

Do your thing, its meant for fun

If you took highlander you have cross guard and that shock debuff. Its nice to block without having to switch weapons. If you took sword sword2 thats more of a pvp build. Pelt1 got nice hp and evasion biost so thats also pretty nice. Personally im thinking about building a doppel too and im not taking pelt1. Im still deciding if its high1 barb3, high2 barb2 or high3 barb1. Personally i would only go pelt1 if im going hop3 doppel1 dragoon or some type of corsair or fencer build.

You are good damt right. Another nice reason.

That’s the same build I went. It’s worked fantastic so far, but I hear that players post 200 won’t even group with a Swordsman who doesn’t have Swashbuckling.

Thanks man. You’re one of the better members of the ToS playerbase.

I went Highlander-1 Barbarian-3.
Crown is an excellent debuff, often resulting in mage who would hit me for 600 instead hitting me for 1.
Cross-guard has given me excellent survivability despite my low CON. The resulting debuff, combined with Thrust-5 and its respective enhancements, has allowed me to handle mobs that would otherwise destroy me.

Pouncing is, by far, my highest damage output. I’ve been able to outright kill quest bosses with just this skill.
Giant Swing is really bugging. It doesn’t always do damage, and it doesn’t work in duels. It would be a great move if they ever fix the bugs on it, but I worry the developers won’t touch it because anyone who complains about it will be assailed by the ToS player base with, “Why would you do that?”
… exactly like the first comment in this thread.

Dont really worry, I took P2 cause more buckling in my group seemed to be fine, yet group disbanded and i still manage to do my cata-stuff just fine without the “mandatory” hoplite.

Here’s a simple quest for you.

Do you like to blindly follow the metagame?

If yes, quit or reroll, or whatever you want to do.

If no, continue playing the class you enjoy.

Don’t let other’s elitism ruin your fun.

As a Bard main in League, you have filled me with renewed vigor.

I…see?

By the way, could you share your whole build?

Sure. I plan to change out some skills, since I bought the founder’s pack and wanted to explore some skills.

Thrust 5
Gungho 5
Concentrate 4
Pain barrier 1

Wagon Wheel 5
Crown 5
Cross Guard 5

Embowel 9
Stomping Kick 10
Cleave 1
Helm Chopper
Seism 10
Giant Swing 5
Pouncing 5

I’m playing Doppel by ear until I decide to use the skill reset.
I enjoy Punish
I’m tentative- but intrigued by- Deeds of Valor
Double Pay is fantastic, and I wouldn’t do without it.

As for stats:
264 STR
55 Con
4 INT (lol)
12 SPR
42 DEX

Embowel is terrible. The damage isn’t good at all, and isn’t even dealt correctly. It’s best attributes are being an interrupt and a frame-trap into Wagon Wheel. IMC could make it a good skill with a couple tweaks, but there’s no point in speculating any future changes.

Giant Swing is bad for the same reasons: Buggy, and doesn’t always deal damage. It can hit up to 9 times, but will usually hit between zero to one times. It would be an excellent skill if it would hit consistently. It’s worth noting the hitbox is very narrow. Similarly, if you target the spell incorrectly, it goes on its 2 minute cooldown without so much as an animation.

for high1 barb3 doppel2 i would go something like this

thrust isn’t good. better to get bash for the CC.

That’s just plain untrue. I do regret not getting Bash, but the damage from Thrust outpaces basic attacks considerable. Maybe Frenzy+Deed of Valor would change that, but it still doesn’t allow me to put out pierce damage.

I plan on trading out Gung Ho for Thrust, since Gungo Ho has disappointed me.
I’m genuinely surprised with how much damage Thrust gives me.

Likewise, the build you linked has one point in Pouncing, and Pouncing-5 is currently my largest damage output.
