iCBT1 Feedback & Questions

Hello everyone.

First of all, a friend gave me an additional key he recieved (thanks to him) so I tested the beta for only 2 days.
I know this was just a iCBT, so I won’t dwell on the well-known bugs (friends list, whispers, hitboxes, auction house, etc…), but I’ll just ask some questions, give some little suggestions, and give my feedback. Only 2 days okay, so my questions may seem to be trivial for you… So be nice, thanks

Let’s talk about the game, and my thoughts (in no particulary order).

  • The aesthetics are great. I feel the nostalgia of RO, the cuteness of the RO’s sprites now in 3D, in a 2.5D stage. Awesome. The customization of the chars was very limited, but I guess we’ll can later choose more haircuts, hair colors (maybe bleached/rainbow :stuck_out_tongue:). I hope we can even choose eye/skin color, that would be great.
Will we have some cloth dyes too? Sadly the stuff you’re wearing don’t change how your char looks (except headgear costumes). Talking about the costumes, that’s always a good feature, but it’s a bit frustrating sometimes: i.e. at the same level, a C1 bokor has 2 costumes (+1, the “naked” cleric) while a C3 swordman has none…

  • The controls. At first, I wasn’t fond of the idea of the full keyboard control mode… And it was a good experience in the end. I’m still not fond of it because I can’t unlearn to jump with the space bar . I prefered the mouse & joypad controls, pretty good for a MMO. Some bugs with the joypad… For example, I had to press twice on the B button to activate a Vakarine statue. But nothing too annoying. I may not have seen it but, is there a settings button in the lodge? Because everytime I started with a new char, the tutorial “how to move” indicates me the keyboard keys, instead of the joypad buttons.
And we desperatly need an option to change the key shortcuts !!

  • The Classes system is interesting. It explains the amazing “80 classes”, but sadly it’s not 80 classes for the endgame, 3/4 of them are just specialisation/a path to reach the endgame. And some paths are impossible. :frowning: So I’m waiting for more infos about it.

  • The HUD was good. Perhaps a bit too much big sometimes. I didn’t check if we can resize it or not. An option to move it the way we want will be great, as well a hide/unhide HUD shortcut (for nice screenshots). The shortcut bars were broken, sometimes after teleportation, I had the “keyboard shortcuts” while playing with a joypad.

  • The UI was great, but you cannot see more than 2 windows (i.e. your char status points sheet & your inventory). A resize option will be good for that too. Also, won’t it be better if the char name is shown instead of the lodge name?

  • The main story quests. It’s good to have one, but is this necessarily mean that all players (no matter the class) have to start from the same location? Players should go in adventure all by themselves first in such a wide world, just like in RO (from Geffen/Payon/Prontera/…). I think this is the kind of game that you have to interact with people from the beginning to know about the world itself, and to make your first steps, before starting the Main Quest.

  • About the storage system… Well for a RO player, I loved the joint kafra storage between all the chars of a same account. And I must admit that I felt a bit disappointed (for its legitimate successor) for NOT having the same system. Will it change in the future?

  • The EXP system. Will we have an option to show us how much jobexp we earn? Some calibrations must be made too, because grinding the mobs become a pain in the @$$ after the level 25… And the difference between your level and the mobs level grows faster too much early in the game. :worried:

  • Does Tos have a mascot? Like the famous Poring for RO…

  • Can someone explain me the purpose of botting in a CBT? Yeah botting, I saw a few archer bots…

  • The boss fights. They can be very long in solo since the beginning (need calibration too). Bosses drop some nice pieces of stuff at a certain rate (i.e. maybe a nice rod at 10%), so I wonder if it’s possible to fight them again (especially the bosses from the main/story quests). Or will it be possible?
Can we have an indication before entering a “boss instance”? Because it’s a bit annoying to enter into a boss fight when you’re here just to explore or grind. Especially if the boss is too strong for you. And running away from the instance is impossible too, so you have to die. :frowning:

  • I thought I heard there will be some “unranked” classes, like a fisherman or a cook. How will it work? A kind of workmanship or not at all?

  • 5-members partys are a bit small, don’t you think? :smirk:

That’s all for the moment.
Thanks IMC Games, ToS Team and everyone who played this beta, that was a good beta, and I expect for more the next time (like the KVM-like pvp feature). And more infos about the hidden classes, exp/upgrades/drops charts… :stuck_out_tongue:

You can fight them again if you party with someone who have quest. However you can’t claim loot if you already claim it in first time fight. If I’m not wrong EXP can still getting after fight.
Don’t worry though, You will meet them again sooner or later as your quest progress. Not all the boss you had fight with will appear again but some of them will.

party with more than 5 members

Thank you for your feedback even that you just could take part in iCBT for 2 days.

In some terms i agree with you: the HUD should be customizable, same goes for the UI and the names and also the storage would be nice for all characters, to know how much class exp is given would be also fine and surely the option to change the key shortcuts

About the main story quest and random starting locations. This might be a little difficult for the whole game. That way we need around 4 different trainig camps or else 4 differnt starting towns and after this there appears the big problem: How do you get all the players together atleast that they can all play together? So they need warps to the same place and so we are back to what it is now. Or they need more low level maps for every starting town and after a few level we are all at the same map again or else we’ll meet just at the high level maps or the first dungeon, but this way how do you party up with some friends at the beginning, i don’t think it would be satisfying.

About grinding: you need to party up and for sure you shouldn’t grind at spots where the mob levels are too high. Most of the time you should grind at mobs that are at your level or else search for a party to kill higher mobs.

About the so called bots: There aren’t any bots in this game atm. You all just saw people which used macros via their keyboards, mouses, controllers, programs or even they just blocked their “z” key. If we were in the year 2000 I would understand that most of the people call this botting, but not in the year 2015. There is no problem to order something with a implemented macro function and let me tell you one thing. There is no way out of it. Many people are using such functions also in games you don’t even recognize it. The game is designed like that so the people just used it.

Botting is way more complex. With a bot you use a program which is really interacting with the game. For example, a bot can use spells or items at spefic times, they walk around, they teleport back to town, they repair and sell items and so on… if there was a real bot in iCBT you wouldn’t be able to recognize, because the gameplay is too slow to get caught with a bot.

That’s not party. It’s skill by centurion to control/moving other people character.
Max member still 5 right now. Those skill are cool for raid though. XD

Thanks for the answers.

About the main story quest and different (not random) starting places, it’s not that hard to implement. From the 4 different camps/towns, you can add a main quest NPC who tell you “Hey I add the location to Klaipeda on your map” (something like that), and give you the quest “Go praise to the Vakarine Statue and go to Klaipeda”. That’s an example, which add not much of extra work, so there’s no need to rework the world map entirely to add different maps of the same level (like RO). And you’ll can quickly party with your friends too. Don’t you think?
I know it’s hard to change things right now, but that’s just an idea to “personalize your adventure”

Programs. Using a third-party program to interact with the client-server, that’s what people usually call “botting”.
They probably use the macros right, but I’m still suspicious about that, because of the speechless chars’ reactions (an archer using Kneeling Shot, that’s okay, but I didn’t know he can aim a mob which was behind his back, without moving first). But… Yeah, nevermind now… It’s just a warning  I’m sure everybody don’t want to see bots in ToS. Let’s hope that won’t happen.

Below you can see both char which are not in centurion but they are in centurion formation with different party interface, which make me think that is not due to centurion skill.

The 3rd video show that you don’t need to be in centurion formation for having that party.

2nd and 3rd video… stuff on left side isn’t mean party member. It’s the party list in same area for party search and apply. If you look closely you’ll see (5/5) which mean total member of that party. This list only show up to player who’s not in party.

While centurion formation skill can let anyone join into formation. Not limit to just party member.

oh ic, with my net I can’t open HD. It’s all blur to me

It would be cool if they add raid party or something for hard mode instance.
It’s gonna be fun to run dungeon with many job!

Yeah sure you are right.

I just wanted to make clear that you can’t do anything via an anti-hack-tool or something, because macros don’t interact with the client-server, they just simulate a keyboard function in your system.
