I told you F2P couldn't work

They didn’t listen! F2P currency based grind MMOs are a dying model killed by bots and the kind of people who flock to these games because they don’t need to shell out a dime.

I predicted a month or so back B2P would be the end result. I stand by that, because it’s the only thing that will work. There’s no money in hosting servers for bots to eat.

I wasnt for or against it at the time, but I understood the issues f2p would have vs b2p. Now leaning more towards b2p.

Don’t know if you were playing the game at the time, but in early acess there were already bots, so i guess they can afford B2P too

To be fair, the bots simply just use stolen credit cards to bypass their way in. It’s how they existed in Early Access, it’s how they exist in F2P games, it’s how they exist in Subscription based games.

There is no escape from your bot overlords through a simple pay-wall.

  1. Make it b2p.

  2. Have an active in-game GM team.

GW2 is the best most recent (yah gw2 is like half a decade old now, but no one has done it as well since) example of this. But I think that #2 is just too expensive for this small company.

(yes even gw2 had bots, and lots at the beginning)

They’ve been around since iCBT2,so it’s nothing new.Said it then and I continue to say it now: GM’s in-game are still the most effective weapon against the bots.

I would pay monthly, but in the current state of the game I dont want even free

Ps: I play because I bought the 3 founders pack and I dont want my money to go to waste

Already say, the only method to fight BOTS is the Bot PK System.

The most effective and all BOTS will fear… Let the real player vs BOTS and monster…

This is too true. I love FF14, but despite its stronger walls and P2P formula, the bots are rampant. There is no such thing as an easy fix.

There would be some juicy drama if it went B2P.

If they didn’t make all current accounts free, people with high levels (200+) that for whatever reason won’t buy the game would be up in arms.

I think B2P is something you do starting out, making it B2P after F2P is really suicidal.

I agree with this as well though.

Maybe open a b2p server, with less restrictions, but allow people who bought any founder packs in; but theyd have to do this fast.

Then you run into the issue of separating the playerbase.

In larger games, yes this certainly could work, but nobody has any idea how this game will be 3 months from now, if there are too few players, separating the playerbase would be an awful idea.

It’s why theyd have to do it fast. Right now the population is large enough that itd be fine, as far as splitting goes; sure people would get up in arms.

I dont think they are seriously considering it though. Should of been launched this way if it was an option.

We’re playing in b2p and f2p at the same time. All of us buy tokens(b2p) and then buy items in TP shop. That’s the how all MMO now working. Welcome.
Bot’s were in cbt and in founder’s month. You have no evidence to your opinion. You don’t predict anything and no one care about your opinion.

No, there are people who probably havent spent a dime here yet. Which is their prerogative.

It can work. But not like this.

First mistake was listening to people crying on the forums asking for regional servers before making sure their first servers were actually stable.

That’s me. Haven’t spent a dime.

I farmed up enough to buy a token (350k) within 2 days of playing the game. The key for new players is that you GRIND for money, find spots with huge density and grind and you’ll get rich quick, even as low as level 70.

350k is hilariously cheap.

Also I feel no need to buy anything on the cash shop, since there’s nothing really there that benefits me aside from the token (which I bought for silver).

Also the most expensive and time consuming method, not really practical.

I don’t know about all of you but Phantasy Star Online 2 (JP) is F2P and it’s still doing great.
