Okay guys, we have a big problem here.
First, I played hunter in both CBT’s, but went for wugushi after circle 1. Now i’m looking into making a Hunter C3 for the first time.
I was looking at how they scale, and well, it scares me.
What Hunters do
First, Hunter is a class that have lots of utility skills, plus one offensive skill and the DPS help of your companion. I won’t go deep into utility right now.
The big problem is how Hunter’s damage scale.
Hunter’s Damage
It all comes from your companion. Even the rush dog skill depends entirely on your pet’s stats and nothing else. Atack, accuracy, crit chance, everything he has.
So, we HAVE to scale the companion’s damage somehow too keep up with other classes.
How Pet’s damage scales
Two ways:
- Buying attributes
- Leveling
Buying Attributes
Pretty nice idea, we can up stats pretty nicely while we have money. But the cost increases. How viable are they, actually?
Well, the price goes up by 8% per point, as tested with atack, crit rate and HP attributes.
Right now my pet is only lvl 72. His atack is 187 (I already bought some points for testing purposes).
To get just 100 more points in atack, it costs 60.960.606.
Yeah, 61 million.
To get it to around my atack (like he was when I just turned into a hunter) I need 300 points. This costs 295.119.700.083.164.
295 trillion.
Now, think I’m just level 103. How much this is going to scale?
We can’t buy them weapons, we can’t share stats with them.
Do we need a change here? I would say sure.
Leveling
To get it even better, we have levelling issues. As said before, I’m 103, he is 72, have been using him all the time since I got it for free (rank 3). Even stopped to level him a few hours.
But, what’s the deal here?
They don’t get exp from cards.
Consequences?
- He deals 1 damage in basic atacks. Because he suffers from damage penalty (level difference to the monsters).
Sugestions
- Make them level a bit faster. Slower than the first CBT, faster than this. This leads to needing dedication, grinding to only level your pet. Or just let them get exp from cards. They receive exp bonus from blues, they interact with some other mechanics. Why not from cards?
- Change the Praise skill buff to give percentage buffs instead of flat buffs. So, each point gets more worth for the hunter, making this scale better long-term. Makes for the difference of choosing other classes or spending up to 3 ranks here.
- Make the stats price grows a little slower, we can see how it’s not viable for anything past the first 50 levels. I mean, even if they get more worth, we can’t pay for them.
And pretty important, why is Rush Dog one of the only offensive skills in the game with no Enhance attribute in the master?
I mean, this is the only offensive skill in 3 circles. Makes Hunter’s scaling even more terrible.
