Hunter: when is the damage irrelevant?

Hunter has two major damage skills:
Snatching vs flying which causes a bleed and Rush Dog.
Both skills come with their own enhance attributes just like most damage skills as well as having some special components.

Snatching increases damage vs Flying types and causes a bleed on top of using your Hunter’s stats for the damage and bleed (scales with bow attribute too)
Rush Dog however is the most amazing thing imo:
It uses your pet stats with 150% modifier and here comes my question:
Theoretically speaking pet stats are infinite. My pet only has money invested into attack and hp and it feels like Rush Dog is one of my best damage tools and it has a 5 second cooldown without overheats which makes it easy to weave in (huge sp consumption over time).
I don’t know if more than Attack, Crit Rate and Crit Damage gets counted for Rush Dog (can it miss? Hasn’t missed yet so no clue) or if there is a soft/hard cap on pet stats somewhere but theoretically speaking you could reach top damage with just Rush Dog 1.

I would like to know if there are any high level Hunters out there and how much they use Rush Dog and Snatching.

Snatching scaling is affected by the user’s patk, not the pet’s.

Rush Dog is the only skill that is affected by pet stats for now, on kToS they released new attributes that up to 30% of the pet’s attack is transfered to Snatching, Coursing and Retrieve.

I know and I wrote “on top of using your Hunter’s stats” in the Snatching part (I should have clarified that it only uses Hunter stats and no pet stats - It is affected by bow attribute, right?) but nice to know that it only takes p.atk (can it crit?)

I should have clarified that it only uses Hunter stats and no pet stats - It is affected by bow attribute, right?

Snatching, Coursing and Retrieve are affected by the 2x damage vs flying attribute from 2 handed bow, so using those skills with a bow is splendid, they also crit.

Rush Dog did never crit for me, if it does, it possibly does not show the yellow numbers.

Rush dog should be able to crit, perhaps the crit is based on pet crit stat too?

Fake multi-hit.
True hit = 1 hit, displayed as fake 5 hits.

Damage = ( [ PetAtk * 2 - Physical Defense * 2 ] + SkillDamage ) * 1.5 * ( 1 + EnhancementBonus% )

Crit formula: ( [ PetAtk * 2 * 1.5 - Physical Defense * 2 ] + Skill Damage) * 1.5 * ( 1 + EnhancementBonus% )

Damage in [ bracket ] cannot be below 0. => base skill damage will ignore armor.

This ability cannot be blocked or dodged.

It can be blocked by peltasta C. Tried on duel and it block.

Before the Hunter fix rush dog used to bypass every kind of damage reduction and immunity: Block, Safety Zone, Ausrine…

perhaps the crit is based on pet crit stat too?

Most likely, but the question still remains: Does it crit?

I have seen my pet critting quite often with its basic attacks, but never with rush dog.

Yes, but it doesn’t show.
Similar to how Mobs with pain barrier do not get yellow crit numbers (fixed on KToS).

@Composition do you know more about rush dog crits?

Oh alright, so we go back to what I said earlier:

Rush dog crits were never noticeable for me since the damage flunctuation never changed drastically… but that’s a good thing to know.

Thank you for clarifying it

Hard for me to notice with those fake multi hits masking the true value and with me not bothering to add those values. If I had to guess, yeah it probably does but doesn’t display.

As for “high level hunter” Do I use rush dog? yes, primary source of damage? nah, atleast not until we get all those juicy updates from korea I won’t. As falconer 3 there’s more value in growling + multishot to bother using rush dog, although aiming fixes the main issue with rush dog : small hit area. Even then I’m not actively trying to use it, it deals perhaps 7 ~ 9k damage, quite the similar amount as my sonic strike from a rank 7 class (sonic strike why u so bad? atleast on your own…)

But, rush dog lvl 15 uses like 105 SP and that’s quite a lot atleast for me. so until we get the juicy updates that matter, I’m not actively using rush dog.

PD: DEATH TO FAKEMULTIHITSSS

Hey guys, I’ve been thinking about changing my archer 3 for hunter 1. Which skills would you recommend me picking up in a single circle?

Actually, is hunter even worth it a circe for pure pve (flying bosses+spreading wugong gu) and pvp utility (single target lock)? Or is the AI still way too problematic to be worth a shot?

Thanks in advance.

Hunter-Musk here.
Rush Dog will rarely be your main DPS unless you want to spam SP pots.
It’s useful for clearing up mobs in places like boss fights if you lack other instant AoEs.
It may improve a lot when we get companion equips, but at the current moment, it’s frankly not worth the SP consumption.

@yurichalps
Max Coursing and Snatching.
The rest don’t matter too much.
You can compensate for the AI with /comeon or a mountable companion.

Hunter is about disable + conditional damage (has to be able to disable to damage). The disable makes hunter viable at PvP.

However you cannot disable several mobs, and cannot disable bosses. Pet is vulnerable & may die - quite bad vs big ranged mob crowds.
Snatching really is the greatest anti-air skill, it even immobilizes flying bosses.

I wouldn’t recommend hunter as your main damage source, the damage is too conditional. Use hunter rank as support (vs flying boss, etc.), like it was meant to be & cast other skills to deal damage.

Even if your hunter skill damage becomes irrelevant you will still be able to disable mobs & use higher rank skills. Well, if your pet AI keeps working.

I’d like to add that hunter without scout for PvP is not all that great, mostly because your pet has to travel to your target, and your target most likely has instant travel, insta kill, skills.

hunter snatching increase strike damage is working for boss ? combo with sapper rogue is a huge boost for broom trap

Yes, but Snatching only works vs Flying bosses.
