Hunter 3rd circle

Hunter’s third circle is a joke, sure you can level coursing, retrieve, rush dog and snatching… there are also other skills there if you want to level those, I don’t acknowledge them. But let’s talk about the rotten cherry of hunter’s third circle : Growling.

Growling is an amazing area cc that last for 10 minutes, refreshes every 3 seconds and applies the fear status on enemies for 3 seconds at level 1, sounds great right? yes it does. now how does this skill work?

Well. it disables your main source of damage for a stationary CC that last 10 minutes and can only be canceled by walking away or reloguing. It was disabled on PvP due to it refreshing every 3 seconds and has no attributes.

Could we get an attribute to make this skill worth while? I mean once it’s active we can no longer deal any damage with our other skills. If that’s the case how about an attribute that makes the pet walk along side us while growling?

That way we can actually help the party and rellocate to where the cc is needed. we’ll be putting ourselves in the line as a pay off. we’ll be more likely to get killed that way but would benefit the party disabling enemies around.

Or how about an attribute that taunts in a small area? that way it would also benefit the party, but the pet would die quickly canceling the skill due to ranged attacks.

Any suggestions for hunter third circle? also, another attribute to rush dog would be sweet for circle 3. (And a change for praise skill, make it multiplicative instead of +45 or something)

Also on a side note, any hunter circle 3 with penguin? I’m curious as if you can ride while it growls.

Casting any other skill should halt the pet from using growling…

Sure it should, but I’d also like to see it become more useful. rellocating the CC to where it’s useful. like seriously, cryomancer can throw the tree where it wants, so can chrono, psychonino, the class that throws arrest. we? we get to throw it wherever the pet is and can’t rellocate it.

I’d like for it to atleast move along us so we can position it to where it’s most useful.

This is what Hunter needs basically:

Even if it’s an amazing CC tool, nobody cares. Trust me, every single time i use this on dungeons my lovely teammates jsut pass by it.

The truth is that Growling is not the only problem this class has when it comes to abilities. The class really lacks of ways to supporting your fellow teammates despite of being taken as a supportive one. Not gonna mention Pointing because you and i know that this skill is nothing more than a waste of points, and Hounding is only useful on PvP. Furthermore, the lacking of AoE damage sources other than Rush Dog which is hard as hell to land on multiple enemies at the first time, Snatching only working on especific targets, along with the fact that Companions tend to be pretty weak at higher levels especially against magic damage, due the terrible training system we have right now make this class nearly unplayable by some times.

I’ve been working on a class redesign, you know for fun, which i’ll probably end up posting here on the forums for my fellow Hunters to rate so that would fit for the suggestions you’re asking for.

Oh, and if growling while riding is a thing, no wonder why IMC doesn’t want to fix our class. Like hey, mooney.

That’d be great. they’d have to change our companions to override they desire to chase the first fluff they see.
Also I’d truly like for praise to be way better, like multiplicate the damage and accuracy by 2 or 3 that way rush dog can become way more useful.

or add a 60% stun chance for hunter third circle with rush dog or something that truly sets us apart, like really the third circle has growling yet it can be used in so few ocasions that I rarely cast it in a party.

When I’m alone sure I cast it a lot so I can enjoy the benefits of circling with multishot but for a class that’s labeled as support we sure do lack a lot of supporting capabilities.

That’s exactly why I’m hoping they read this and reconsider us. we’ve been forsaken. last patch they just rewrote the description of two of our skils. please do post your thoughts on our class.

If praise multiplied the stats of our companions that would set us apart. but the first thing I don’t understand is why our companions behave exactly the same as all others when they’re with us. having separate behaviors just for hunters is justified as we’re a companion centric class. sorcerers have it hard too but not as much as we, temple shooter has amazing aoe, we ? we get 2.5k to a maximum of three targets, it’s like a basic attack from a swordsman. retrieve and coursing just not working on bosses is pitiful.

all those immune to CC mobs out there making our life harder, they seriously need to give us some love. Playing this class along with falconer is so fun and challenging but we’re the most inefective class out there, this game is design around many mobs and AoE damage yet here we are, no aoe, a pitiful area CC and amazing single target CC ( if it lands and doesn’t breaks the pet AI)

Sometimes i feel that the only thing that keeps Hunters from not quitting is the fact that we’re not alone on this. You’ve just pointed some of the most remarkable issues the class suffers from.

About the Praise skill, how i’ve been thinking, the best way we could improve this ability is actually by removing it and replacing with another one, then making a much, much better and efficient way to train Companions without investing money. The best thing i’ve come with so far is a healing skill for the Companion, but if you wanna find out more about my suggestions keep an eye on the forums, i’ll probably post them soon.

Sure I’ll keep an eye out. regarding healing companions we do have a healing skill, shared with falconer as well but who thought that 10 mins delays is good enough? change it to 1! the pet just keeps on dying due to level differences, having an attribute that allows companions stamina to be replenished with tree root crystals while with a hunter would be great.

Also reset the pet AI and stamina during team battle league, do the same for falconer. having to recall the bird eats posibilities away.

As much as I love the Hunter class (I have two Hunter C3 on different servers) I think that the class deserves some kind of revamp, most of the kit is either situational or completely garbage (I’m looking at you Pointing).

If I was able to recode the formulas and behavior, I’d do the following changes:

Coursing:

Physical Defense: -12 + (-4 * Skill level) -> -10% + (-2 * Skill level)
Additional Critical Chance: 40%
Duration: 5 + (2 * Skill level) seconds -> 5 + (1 * Skill level)
Overcharge: 2 -> 1
Cooldown: 9 seconds -> 15 seconds

Damage works on all monsters but receives damage penalty depending on the size (XL monsters: -50% damage)

Snatching:

Duration: (2 * Skill level) seconds -> 5 + (1 * Skill level) seconds
Applies bleeding on land monsters too, flying monsters take extra damage.

Praise:

Companion Attack: +20 + (5 * Skill level) ->
(10% * Skill level) of Owner’s Min Attack

Companion Accuracy: +20 + (5 * Skill level) ->
(10% * Skill level) of Owner’s Accuracy

Companion Critical Rate: +20 + (5 * Skill level) ->
(10% * Skill level) of Owner’s Critical Rate

Pointing:

Delete this skill or change to the following:
Aggroes (1 * Skill level) monsters in a small area (Mini swash buckling).

Rush Dog

Remain as it is, fixing the bug that you don’t need to connect the headbutt in order to stun.

Retrieve

Damage works on all monsters but receives damage penalty depending on the size (XL monsters: -50% damage)

Hounding

Increases companion’s move speed while chasing a hidden target.

Growling

Growling AI Duration: 10 minutes -> 1 minute
Cooldown: 34 seconds -> 50 seconds
Target: Front, Square -> Ground, Square (You can target the area you want your pet to growl)
Monsters will no longer run away from the skill

you know what will be sad? with the addition of link penalty scrolls we’ll finally have a paid AoE.

If praise multiplied the attack of our companion equal to skill level, we’d be relevant as DPS. but our class is support we’re not supposed to be DPS so what should we do? we’ll we’re supposed to be crowd control but growling is useless in party, make the pet move along with us!

There’s way more silly skills, why can’t coursing and retrieve latch to 3 mobs at a time? we’ll be able to do this with the afore mentioned joint penalty scrolls.

Why can’t our pet auto rush dog like it used to? if it did that atleast we’d be able to fend off way better relying on a stun that comes every now and then.

Pointing does anything? I didn’t even level it up.

Hounding finds hidden enemies, yes it does. it also fails so much at “revealing them” I just know they’re there because my pet’s following them failing at hitting them.

Praise, sure it can speed up your pet, also grants +45 accuracy, critical rate and attack. +45 is like a drop of water in the ocean, multiplicate it’s stat or change it to something better!

Why can’t our companion receive a boost of hp while with a hunter? a hunter with a disabled pet is basically an archer + whatever he chose at rank 6 or previously.

Where’s the pay from turning into hunter third circle? I’ll tell you! it’s back at circle 2 since it’s the same with slightly higher skills.

Praise sounds amazing there I love it. regarding everything else I’m not so sure, if atleast we could try them. but we’re not the developers nor there is a straight conduit to them. but atleast is a suggestion that seems promising.

Obviously the values I added are fluctuated, since I’m uncertain if those changes would help the class at all, testing would be required for that. :wink:

Thank you for the feedback.

Just a fix that makes it usable in pvp instead of completely disabled would be nice. It is the only extra skill earned on the C3 and it’s not usable there, that alone makes it an under developed class circle.

Make it deployable via a casting circle like other CCs, give it a set time to function and just give it a CD.

Or make it a passive that we have absolutely no control over but it follows the pet everywhere. Switch it off when pet is engaging a skill and switch it on when pet is idle.

While yes making it be cast like any other CC will fix it, I’d like it to be different from all the other classes just for varierty’s sake.

Also making it work in PvP would also be nice, like seriously it worked once, people complained about it and what did they do?

Did they review the skill and make it fair in PvP?
Did they shorten its duration?
Did they make it possible for people to resist it?

Nope. just disabled it for good, great solution. Right? right? yeah…

its time to put your pets to sleep

You MONSTER.

And here I was starting to enjoy the humour in your posts! I rescind that enjoyment, ban IMCisGreedy please.

  • dont target stupid traps

This is due to how flawed the targeting system in this game is, bokors have the same problem with Hexing.
