Tree of Savior Forum

How many employees does IMC actually have?

The more i look into it the smaller the company looks, Even with everything its worked on information on the actual company is hard to find. they have a location for their base but its only one floor of a simple office building, they don’t even have a employee count available. So im thinking that IMC severely lacks the man power for everything they’re doing currently. i wana say at most they maybe have 60 people working at their company and that being generous. anyone have any more info on IMC that i might have missed out on?

EDIT---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So i looked at their main Korean site and it offers much more info than their English site. it looks like they’ve been looking to hire people for that past couple of months. like programmers and system engineers as well as people to plan new content.

How would providing this piece of information be helpful to both you and the company?

60? You are kidding right? With their speed I say at most 20, excluding janitors and marketing team

Are you serious? No more than ten people, my guess is six.

Its mostly just curiosity on my part, but it would Help explain the slow responses to major problems and the lack of communication as well. plus i like researching companies.

I’d guess that they must have 2 developers focused on TOS solely, which are responsible for both content and fix releases…

Companies are not forced to tell their customers how many employees they have so we are only up to guesses.

lol well im taking into account that they have more than one game they support. Tree of savior isnt their only active game, but it is one of their major focuses right now.

They have like 2 games right now, TOS and wolfknight. Other games are just in maintenance mode

The amount of changes they put in TOS is really really tiny. I’m a programmer too so I can say. Judging by the amount of code change, they are most likely have 2-4 programmers actively working on TOS, not more

Of course you need more to make the game function, story writers, art creators etc are needed. But those can work in multiple projects at the same time, since you don’t need to write story or draw new pieces for 1 game every day.

That and some more programmers for Wolfknights, and someone to maintain their older games. 20 is a good guess

Note that forum staff and GMs are usually NOT included in company roster, they are contractors.

Your counting their mobile games as the maintenance mode games right?

Looks like 123 as of 2014, surprisingly more than I expected. Wondering how much that number has changed since then.

They have 2 mobile games

So yeah, I’m pretty sure that their mobile games are in maintenance mode only

I don’t think the issue is number of employees, but the focus of them.

Doesn’t make a difference how many employees they have if they’re mostly focused on WolfKnights or their mobile games, or working with Nexon to get kToS in better shape. It just divides their effort.

I would guess no more than 6-8 people are maybe somewhat focused on iToS, and I don’t think it’s to any serious degree.

I was about to say this. IMC has a lot on their hands right now. They are definitely understaffed and under-talented for the scale they are attempting. In a lot of ways I think they were NOT anticipating the massive response of players as evidence by the CBTs. They were probably looking at ~10k players (even less simultaneously online) as their expected player base but got magnitudes more than that.

They were probably also hoping for a small loyal player base that would keep them afloat through the long development phase (understaffed and under-talented), that was far more resistant and tolerant to bad bugs, severe issues. But most likely due to investor pressure & other factors, they took the route they did.

And so now we have a broken game, overworked staff / Devs, an angry mob of high expectation players, and disgruntled players in forums that should be better served in game. (One of the magic during the first 2 weeks of the game launch was that there were little to no forum activity!! All the whiners, ragers, black knights, white knights, lovers, haters, trolls, EVERYONE was in game lol.)

Even maintenece mode game takes a good amount of man power to handle I think. Many games on maintenance mode still require a full operating staff to keep the game running / create new content. Unless they’ve pretty much given up on it and is putting it on low priority. But even Private RO servers have like 20 people working on them (limited to no new content).

I just wish they’d tell us whats holding them back with these bugs. Why they’re taking MONTHS to sort out, and how they keep multiplying so rapidly.

Like seriously, just level with us, so we can have a piece of mind and not lose all our desire to play outta this lingering fear that the games gonna shut down soon and all our efforts will go to waste.

and if they can’t just level with us, then chances are something shadey is going on (probably thanks to nexon, as usual), that’s preventing them from talking to us, as they slowly dismantle the dev team thinking the games already a wash, and just letting it ride to make some side cash until they eventually close it down.

I totally agree with you. If IMC would have a better PR department, it would take a lot of strife out of the player base. However, in between the language barrier and all the other issues, it is not happening.

Don’t get me wrong, there is some thing really really broken in IMC’s management of this game. And many players of MMO’s has been burnt and hurt by MMO companies so much; that we can smell their sh*t miles away and lose confidence quickly. But somehow I don’t think Kim Hakkyu is going to give up so easily on this particular title, because I believe it is special to him.
