As i said before they ARE looking for more employees in almost every field related to making and marketing the game. heck they are even still looking for creative talent. Also I think they don’t wana admit they bit off more than they can chew. to prideful to admit they made several mistakes cause it would show weakness to investors. But that’s just me making assumptions.

This post was flagged by the community and is temporarily hidden.

i think their biggest thorn right now is self publishing. other wise you’ll see ToS with Nexon right now. But with Nexon or Aeria or whatever big publisher in the region, they will had have better marketing team and community support staff.

at least IMC is not threatening to ruin credits scores like in Black Dessert.

There’s no way IMC has more than 10 people working for them. Most definitely not on TOS.

Take No Man’s Sky for instance, they had a 15 person team. However, they actually had a lot of support and money from Sony and they’re also selling their game at $60. They must have already made millions of dollars.

If IMC has any more than 7 people working on TOS they seriously need to reconsider a few things.

hey @STAFF_Amy @STAFF_Ethan @STAFF_John @STAFF_Ines @STAFF_Max

@GM_Francis @GM_Sebastian @hkkim

this thread is a good cheese question thread for your Q&A in case you want to avoid big questions again

my guess is 8

How many boosted monkeys does IMC actually have?

Fixed thread name

Yes. I expect next Q&A to have

  1. How many staff does IMC have?

This is something in which we are greatly considering of revealing, so we set up an event just for our loyal players. Each time a player gets a “dungeon exceed” notification, the internal counter will increase by 1. By the time it reaches 10 million notifications, we will announce our staff number through the servers.

Good luck and happy pressing.

Anyway jokes and sarcasm aside. I do think that the main reason why iToS is in this state is due to the lack of a publisher to back/finance the game. Publishers, besides funding the game, they also provide manpower in the form of community managers and in game gamemasters (GM). IMC, being the developer + self publish iToS, has not much manpower to spare for forum CMs and GMs. This is why our forums and game is in this kind of state.

Without a publisher, it will be really hard to sustain the game via the free-to-play model. Just hiring a couple of community managers and in game GMs (1 for each server?) will take up around 16k usd per month (assuming 2k per month salary for 8 people).

Given a base cost of a token (let’s put it at an easy to calculate price of $10usd per token), we will need at least 1600 token ‘subscriptions’ every month just to break even the number of players. This is added on top of the server costs, bandwidth costs, developer costs etc. It is easy to see that iToS don’t really make that much money for the company at all.

This is probably why IMC keep bolstering the TP shop over the past number of weeks.

They want more players to buy TP to help sustain the servers. It seems that this is a chicken and egg issue. If IMC doesn’t hire more developers to increase their strength to solve issues, more players will leave. Lesser players will play and buy TP, lesser TP = lesser income and IMC can’t afford to hire.

Perhaps the free-to-play model isn’t really that good for a publisher’less MMO after all.

I agree. F2P for grind and WoW-style MMOs is a bubble that has popped. The industry is ripping itself to shreds and we are certain to see a return to monthly fees and buy-to-play titles. There aren’t enough whales to support the massive numbers of parasites that converge on this style of game - the same kind of exploit crazed, silver selling/buying miscreants that systematically demolish any mmo economy they can get their grubby little fingers on.

My post history has more than one plea for IMC to launch iToS as a buy to play title, in the ancient and primordial days of these forums.

Hmm. Maybe the real solution to all this problems is being p2p. I can go with that. Lesser bots/ no bots. No rmt. No bot seller in cities… Obviously. More cash for them to have serious staff to maintain the game. Sure loyal players.

There is a good chance a lot of iToS’s manpower is tied up in the database merger. They may just want to get that done before working on the existent issues. I disagree with that course of action, but at least it would be somewhat understandable.

It would be best to avoid that. Once they fix the issues and Tree of Savior becomes a more functioning game, the population will almost certainly rise, and with more content and more TP Market items, there would more incentive to buy TP. Making ToS B2P would hopefully be the last resort.

ruin credit scores???

And also no new blood.

Which will spell doom for this game pretty quick. Especially when this game is still buggy as hell.

@Karjalainen

IMO, ToS doesn’t need a marketing team AT ALL. The problem with ToS isn’t that people don’t know about this GREAT GAME. The problem is that EVERYONE knows about this BROKEN GAME.

Marketing can’t fix that.

they can however bullshit about it like a generic publisher would do. im suprised they are not doing it but rather be silent about it.

Don’t know about you, but I’d rather keep quiet about my big broken game while fixing it, than to get more people to discover how bad it is and ruin the reputation forever.
