How is IMC and ToS going?

I left this game years ago, today I just remembered that existed a game with a huge potential with optimization, network, cheater and balance issues.

How is the game doing now ? Is IMC working hard on ToS ? Maybe working hard on other games and gave up on ToS ? May they keep working in a ToS 2 ?

They are upgrading client to 64bit

Wth, they used TCP Protocol for real-time actions. Now I know why the game was so laggy.

Thanks for the link !

A lot has changed since the game first release, some for better, some for worse (in my opinion)
The whole class system and progression compared to a couple of years ago is vastly different.
I hope you like RNG.

Spiral of game mechanics revamp followed by class revamp followed by mechanics revamp followed by class revamp.

It will probably become worse with the new specialized legendary sets they speak of, because I cannot imagine all classes performing similar with the new specialized sets.

Hum what i’d notice is that they launched too many ranks at once, tried to balance everything at the same time and the game became almost a MOBA where each week your class could be useless or OP and you needed to reset your build always to try find something fun.

I came back about 2 months ago since 2017 and the game is much better. The class system is much simpler and better than before. The whole 3 circle thing was a mess. Now it’s just 3 classes in any order you want.

Game is doing well, actually and appears to be on a good path forward.

When I picked up TOS on its official release, I thought to myself “This game have beautiful arts but serious latency and few other issues related to its coding and game engine. Let’s hold off spending my money on it until IMC has managed to gain my confidence to invest in this game”.

Fast forward to now, I got tired of waiting and dipped into some of those money that I would have spent on TOS. Instead I splurged on PS4 Pro with FF7 remake, Nioh 2, Monster Hunter World and its Iceborne expansion, Ace Combat 7 and Ace Combat Unsung War bundle, Assassin Creed Odyssey, Witcher 3, Dark Souls 3, Uncharted 4, Final Fantasy 14 bundle and Batman Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Arkham Knight, Persona 5 Royal. Not to mention 12 months of PSPlus’ subscriptions.

If IMC does not start treating their game better, I will spend the rest of this money originally earmarked for TOS somewhere else (already setting my eyes on next episodes of FF7 remake. Hoping the next episode at least will still be on PS4, but will hop on whichever console it will have it on given the current one is so jaw-droppingly awesome).

Thank you IMC, for making me spend money on more worthwhile items.

I mean those are all triple A franchises with massive companies behind them so of course they are gonna be better than ToS.

It has little to do with triple A franchise or massive companies behind it but their attitude toward their own product and customers. I have spent thousands before on some niche and relatively unknown indie puzzle and Flash-based adventure RPG games when the dev/publishing companies got this right.

But with TOS and IMC I just can’t shake this feeling that they don’t respect their own product let alone their customers.

So yes, why would I spend money on company whose main business goal seems to be ripping off as much money from their customers while providing sub par services when I could have gotten myself much better gaming experience elsewhere?

I do love TOS but I see little point in throwing my money at IMC. It would just serve to make them think it is ok to treat their customers only as cash cows. I’d rather reward other companies that do better job than IMC.

If they didn’t respect the game or its consumers they woulda taken the money and ran ages ago.
Just because they aren’t improving at a rate that you would like does not mean there hasn’t been improvement. Big difference between indie puzzlers/flash based adventure games and an MMORPG.

Maybe I’m just looking at it from developer side since I’ve seen the work and effort that goes in MMOs. I used to work on one before it went under several years ago.

Different bar of expectations between the two of us, then. What maybe good enough for you is not good enough for me and maybe vice versa.

I look at their slow or minimal improvements of the game over the year, their way of managing game economy, bot and exploit abuse, little or non existant QC check to detect or fix bugs and glitches prior to releasing any update and even small things like not bothering to proof read or putting correct link of their patch notes (there are even times when patch notes are released very late or even missing at all).

Anyway I digress. I do know that there are still loyal fan base behind TOS that still hold out hope, myself included. I am still logging on to TOS forum and still playing sporadically but only as F2P player. I’m not spending any money on this game under current level of management.

I reckon a major factor for this is that almost everyone is in quarantine/lockdown so everybody’s looking for a game to kill time. True stats will probably show once the whole world goes back to what we used to be…

to be fair, the game has vastly changed from launch and alot of different updates have gone by,

currently though, for me i would say its very enjoyable especially with the new features like the weekly boss raids with ranking dps and the fused bernice/fued/uphill shop system.

the game itself is also very easy for new/returning players to join in as it gives you so much free stuff by just playing the game.

looking at the dev notes and ktest changes, personal housing and other more interesting things are being implemented too which makes me happy.

i’d say the game does need some more changes, but the direction the game is going seems to be alright for now

I thought about this, but the uptick started before this whole quarantine mess. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it will be awhile for everything to get to normal. If there’s anything positive about this situation is that games like ToS get lots more attention. And ToS has an advantage in that regard because it’s a very unique game.
