How enjoyable is this game if I go in completely blind?

Kind of want to re-experience that fresh noob “everything is new” feel, like I did when I first got into Ragnarok Online way back in middle school. Not gonna read anything regarding builds/classes/items etc etc

Is this game punishing if I went into it completely blind? If I just messed around and built a crap character, how easy would it be to undo the mistakes later on when I realize it’s just not working out? Is there a “pay to stat reset” mechanic?

I hear its unforgiving.

So dont.

you can only reset your skills with cash shop item

i’d suggest that at least you ask for some build tips, there is a build simulator we use

you could blindly follow someone’s build, and still don’t know what spells other classes have, or even your own spells if you don’t read them until you reach them xD

but if you go completely blindly, you’ll end up spending a lot of time and choosing bad class combinations and ending up having to start a whole new character

How enjoyable is this game if I go in completely blind?

Pretty sure it wouldnt be so enjoyable to see nothing when playing. :worried:

Jokes aside, I shouldnt even answer this for you since Im not a harcore “go for the top player”. Buuut, if you’re in for the animations and playing the game for fun yeah its increadibly entertaining.

And no, you can’t repick what you have chosen(talking about classes). If you for example pick pyromancer, you’re stuck with that class. As for stat reset, nope. Nothing known about it for iOBT. But I doubt it. Expecting it only as event rewards.

well u should read about builds and stuff, cus its REALLY EASY to mess up with your character.

and u should pay attention to the exp cards, only use it if u finished ALL the quests u can in your level and you are weak for the next map (example, i did everything and i’m lvl 35, but next map starts at 37 so i use some cards till 37)
-also, if theres a dungeon, do the dungeon daily, before using exp cards.

if u do this u wont have big problems going “blind”.

Thank you. I like these kinda tips.

As for class, i don’t really care, I will probably just remake character if it’s completely screwed.

First of all I’m talking from my experience during the first CBT (the game had change a lot since then), but I think you could do pve with a lot of less powerful builds succesfully if you don’t want to follow someone’s build. But sooner or later you will want to start another character. And probably another one, and another one…

I’m not saying this is necessarily bad but if you are worried about time consuming stuff and/or repeat the same process over and over this is probably the “hard” part at this moment: Restarting characters in order to test builds.

Also if you are planning to play solo it’s harder to find a build by your own knowing almost nothing.

With all that said:

Simulator is your best friend:

The stat calculator:

The item db:

The stats (and how ranks affects some of them):
http://wiki.tosbase.com/wiki/Stats
The attributes (they are like passive skills):

With all that said, you have a lot of useful info here, on reddit and 4chan so be free to google a bit some things before you start to build your own character. Aaand sorry if my english is not very good

play the game and shut up.
my reaction to your post is disgusting.
~> now you know the players are unforgiving.

It’s just as enjoyable as it was in RO. Just like in RO, you will remake your first char ( and possibly 2nd ).

actually i remade a lot of characters in RO, but nowadays i do a lot more of research before starting playing any game XD

my first character was the only i played in iCBT2, and i was quite satisfied with my build XD

i’ll do a different one in this next OBT, but only because there is the new cleric class, chaplain :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Shouldnt be to bad, you will probably have a lot of fun whenever you get to choose classes blindly! I wish i had willpower to do the same but the class calculator is just to damn fun

I think you will enjoy the game more if you at least mess around with the skill simulator and you look at which classes look interesting to you and go for them. You don’t need a perfect build, but at least you should try to pick things that will work together. Otherwise, you might get in a crappy situation.

For example, certain classes’ abilities only work with certain weapons. You need to know that before going in blindly otherwise you might pick a class that you can’t even use with another class.

Pfff.I totally get what you mean.I played Trickster Online blind and I loved it.

This game is more punishing for bad choices, but it’s not like you’ll have a time limit this time,so I honestly don’t see anything wrong with it.If you’re fine with scrapping characters you don’t like the turnout of,then why not?

i’m sure u can enjoy the game totally blind. this is what i did back in cbt1 and i loved it.

the game is new, so you will have some reset potions to begin with from events <- my assumption
other than that, you have to pay for stat reset

tbh i don’t think you can mess up the stat too badly unless you do it on purpose

a simple strategy is like this:
physics - go str and dex for attack, some spr for block and recovery
magic - int for attack, some spr for recovery
and some con (30-40) unless u want to go tank

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Will probably mess around with skill simulator a bit.

Yeah, been competitive for way too long (12 yrs), time to go casul.

if u have 12 yrs of gaming experience im sure u will be fine even if u go in blind.
but it just means u will have to research later anyway as u lvl up.

Ability descriptions are sometimes missing information so it’s hard to wing it. And building characters generally isn’t organic… They’re carefully planned with a greater vision in mind.

I honestly would just ask now. What kind of experience you are looking for here… And what type of class you want to play… Solo, group, PvP, a mix? Control, Damage, Healing, Buffing? Long cool down big abilities, spammy consistent abilities. What do you want to play? We got plenty of people that can give builds that you can enjoy with peace of mind.
