How does Hoplite's Synchro Thrusting work?

So with all the changes to lately, I’ve been looking into building a Finestra Corsair using Spear/Dagger instead of building one with Barbarian.

I am wondering if picking up Synchro Thrusting is worth it. In an older topic I’ve read @GoldenCross posting that successfully countering an attack with this skill raises critical rate.

So two questions regarding this:

  1. Is this info still up to date?
  2. How do you counter using Synchro Thrusting?

Umm that’s changed I think, doesn’t increase crit chance anymore but just gives extra damage if you counter an attack.
Synchro Thrusting has also been changed to give both Pierce and Strike damage and I think there’s an attribute to reduce Pierce / increase Strike damage or something along those lines, not sure myself. If someone knows exactly how it works please fill us in.
