Anyone find that 100k+ sign ups intimidating? dun dun dun, watch out! What do you guys think of that?
Absolutely Nothing
420 charablazit
funny business
lol…
I dont know where you think that 100k people will play the game, i would say 40% will log in the first week, and from those 40%, 50% will stay to play, and from those 50% 10-15% will do bug report and talk some meaningful stuff about the game.
If it’s going to be anything like iCBT 1, then 90% of the players will be gone after the first day. lol
Just as a reminder, the iCBTs are all capacity and performance tests.
It’s pretty cool that they changed their mind from moving up in 5000 increments to removing all the brakes.
It shows that they are either well prepared and confident in their server’s capabilities or they heavily underestimated the possible influx.
You can assume that not all of those 120k+ accounts are also individuals.
Multi-accounts for possible script-testing purposes or as reserves for friends and similar are within there, I’m sure.
Then you have to consider the time zones and the people’s shifts.
Even if 120k players are actively playing each day, only 30-70k~ish players might be online at a time.
I have already tested it myself; even after you have registered for CBT2, clicking on the registration button again increases the counts.
One can safely assume that a large chunk of it were caused by overly excited people or lag when attempting to register for the 2nd CBT.
oh wow, was it really so heavy?
The intense grind killed it for a lot of people.
It’s great. More players means more money… Means less need for an abusive shop, more content, world peace, enlightenment, kittens, fresh baked cookies, all the hearts and minds of the world at ease–a utopian future awaits us.
Many came thinking this was playable to the end of the game, they dont consider CLOSE BETA as something to be tested.
That explain a lot the amount showed there, so i cant even predict how many actualy registered and how many actualy will play and how many actualy will do the report lol.
Your logic fail at this time, but on OBT/Release will be valid, this is a CBT theres no CS no microtransactions, so no profit for now.
i do uphold their compromise of not making a P2W CS (there was an old post about it before or during the first iCBT).
Nope, and frankly for an open beta ( it is open to everyone after all ) its pretty low.
You have to realize its an imaginary number and the actual number of players/ testers will only be known after the beta is finished.
Regardless, its still low even with all the additional accounts people signed into beta, personally I thought number of applications would reach around 300-400k and number of people around 85k
For a limited time is open for everyone but its not open beta, since after the appointed time no one can register to play.
Its an open beta mate.
It is still a closed beta. Anyone who does not register prior to the 19th will not be receiving a key for beta access.
Not exactly the registration process closes tomorrow. Everyone moving forward needs to ask for the key in person.
A closed beta would imply that only select few could join. Everyone and their mothers can join if they register on time. Sounds like open beta for me, but I dont care enough to continue this topic.
To each their own interpretation. All good
1 person with 4 or 5 emails register lol
It still only a selected few, even tho its unlimited register, after the registration period no one can access without key.
Woa… woa… woa… I think you need to calm down. 6-7 word quotes out of context and changing the tone! I call foul!
Need to slow yourself down a bit here. You don’t work for IMC cause you wouldn’t be posting if you did. You don’t know the server costs, server scalability, or budget. You’re like a man watching a bridge construction. Seeing materials line up in front of the bridge then shouting OMG they’re going to put all that on the unfinished bridge at once and it’ill collapse! No ones going to go bankrupt here because they got too many beta applicants. Have you ever heard of a server queue–of an accountant with the ability to budget a project. If your line of thinking was a hearthstone play it’d be a naked doomsayer against a shaman deck with 2 hex, 2 earthshocks and a full hand.

This is the announcement from the front page: “There is no limit on the number of testers so anyone who registers through [Register for 2nd Beta Test] Button on TOS homepage will be selected as Beta Testers.”
