Homunculus - What it is, how to get it, and how it works!

Note: Magnum Opus 5 plus divine might is NOT enabling you to craft a Homunculus sadly

Where are you guys getting your silver bars from? a specific dungeon cube or?

I mostly ask because it’s not something I want to buy from othert people every 10 days and people are selling stacks of them on the market so they must be coming from somewhere!

The level 50 dungeon when you reroll cube twice you often have silver bar, golden bar, junk, and almost 100% times a boss card if you rolled thrice that is sold in market around 100 000 while you paid for 0 to 40 000.

I have a question for alchemists out there, I’ve had a quick look at the homonculus datamined recipe and although I didnt try to memorise it because I prefer to find things ingame something struck me: the recipe requires 10 different items (even more I think) disposed on specific slots on a 8x8 grid.
Did anyone find an ingame clue as to how to craft an homonculus? Because if there isnt, even assuming that we know which 10 items are required, there are roughly 64^10 possible combinations (which is about billions of billions). We’re not supposed to chance upon the right combination, are we?
I know alchi can buy a magnum opus explanation from the alchi master (it gives the recipes to transmute wings and roots and shells, although the recipe to transmute roots never worked for anything) did anyone ever found something similar for homonculus and other exotic recipes?
I’m not asking to be told where but I’d like to know if they are present anywhere?

If I recall correctly, they gave us the combination for homunculus in a picture when R8 came out.

Imc devs are retards. MO IS unusuable without datamining.

Yup, they did.

I wouldnt go that far I actually like the concept and 99% of the Magnum Opus recipes only require 1 ingredient and the interface automatically highlights the transformations you can achieve. So technically all you have to do is fill your MO page with 1 ingredient and you will know if it does something or not. For the purpose of filling the MO page all you need is 1 unit of whatever you want to check (basically you can drag and drop the same ingredient infinitely but once you ask the skill to start the crafting, if you dont have enough material in your inventory the craft fails) so finding most recipes is easy although time consuming.
But from the moment the recipe require at least 2 differents ingredients the minimum number of possible combinations becomes 4096 which make the discovery of advanced recipes virtually impossible by brute force exploration.

Is this info kept somewhere in the diegesis of the game? I suppose giving the info away in a post or a picture is a way to inform the players but technically it is the characters withing the world of ToS that need to be informed and players learn through them.

If there was a sort of minigame system telling you after failling a craft and consuming your materials (or part of them) which slots were the beginning of a valid craft I would have no issue, you could find them by trial and error and a lot of investment but if there is no humanly possible way for the characters ingame to learn some recipes the MO skill is unfinished at best.

My first attempt to do solmiki with homunculous,

Though its only 35f, i didn’t expected to reach this floor at first try. Its really good to have great Teammates, with a semi-pub party XD

Homunculous may seems useless, but to make it useful, you must to find it out by yourself.

Cheers.

edit: no link scroll used, probably.

Some one test homun using Chrono skils ? I’m thinking to create a Chrono alch

Dagger wiz work with alch 3?? or need enchanter+chrono?
I have a pyro> linker c2 and I do not know what I do
pyro 2 or linker c3 and go dagger+wiz full dex

How will I use Rain if it is C3?

You probably have to wait for rank 9 if you wanted that.
Or, if it still works this way, get a C3 Alchemist to make you a Alchemist’s Stone while you’re only C2.
I have no idea if this works.

Didn’t test anything about Homunculus for the change since that character became something else.

Does the caster’s skill ranks matter when used by homunculus? Or does the homunculus default to level 1 versions of the caster’s skills? Say I have 15 Joint penalty, will the homunculus use level 15 joint penalty or less than that?

Man, it seems all these homunculi summoners kept the details for themselves :3 (jk)

Does anybody know how Ice Wall works when casted along an homunculus?

It works as if a party member casts ice wall. You can’t control when homonculus casts it, so it is a horrible skill to put in there. Also, homonculus’s stats are bad so it won’t be much use for the ice shards either.

i made a humunculus once and now this buff appears on my secondary buff bar. so i dont now what this mean, can i summon the homunculus again? that not expire ??? my char has become a homunculus ???

That buff probably just means “You have a homunculus summoned right now.” Sorcerors get the same thing with their summon familiar spell to tell them that they currently have familiars active.

there are very few homun summoners because it’s not really worth it. 10 day limit kills the fun, just like with how hamsters used to be. and the inability to team storage trans weapons.

The best homun skills are jp16 (link3 alch3 magic missile) and kino3 raise.
fire pillar will become viable with the summoner patch, and it’s probably the strongest pyro3 build, but it’s not gonna be enough to make pyro top tier dps since homuns don’t benefit from agny or attributes.

This is the reason why i dont even bother to get myself an homunculus  maybe in the future they will fix this, who knows…
