Hello highlanders, I have a question about the Staggering effect of Cross Guard. As you guys already know, it makes the staggered monster weaker to piercing attacks and lasts for a decent amount of time thanks to the attribute.
But I need to know: HOW MUCH we are talking about? Itās a flat increase based on our stats or a T0 % amplifier? Iāve seen some people saying that it DOUBLES the damage, but I need to know exactly how much it increases.
This post was flagged by the community and is temporarily hidden.
it makes piercing attacks hit a second time for 50% of the original damage, soooo 150%. But you better hope you donāt have high evasion, cause otherwise the debuff wonāt land.
Guys, could someone share their stat build for reference? Only if itās not too much to ask. Iām still mostly confused as to how I really should allocate my stat points.
Thanks!
Iām asking this because Iām interested on some combos of Cross Guard followed by Fencerās Preparation + Sept Etoiles for that burst.
Currently I have a Barb c3 Fencer, but I was willing to make another with Highlander 2/3 and this plays a big part of the combos. Having to NOT dodge makes thing less interesting, but 50% is huge lol.
Maybe I can make the Cross Guard more reliable by rolling a little bit less dex and more str plus using gung ho instead of guardian before the combo and removing the flee shoes? Itās mostly for some fun at bosses anyway.
Yeah I think Cross Guard needs to be looked at by the developers. Iāve been trying to drum up support for lowering evasion while using it or some other solution, not getting much momentum though. Interestingly, Peltastas who specialize in Umbo Blow which also requires block before dodge solve this problem by taking Finestra which lowers evasion and raises crit rate.
IMO, Cross Guard could be used with 2 handed spears too. That way we could benefit from finestra as well.
Im fencer 2 with this build, iāve just swapped things out and got pelt rank 5 xD. I only felt pelt being useful for me past 120⦠I love cross/sky and moulinet so much, and armor break from skull swing is pretty valuable as well, i dont get why do fencers only get barb .-.
*PS i just think cross guards only requisite should be: Dont use a shield, then i could use with rapier dagger D:
You actually can itās just a retarded work around and it doesnāt work with all the lag. You use weapon swap before and after crossguard, thus switching to a 2 handed sword only when you use it. Then use your 2 handed spear to kill.
A proud Highlander C3 here. Almost lvl 260.
i donāt know IMO, since they gonna give Barb more slash damage from cleave then they atleast should give us something like change ā+ more pierce damageā from crossguard to ā+ more slash damageā.
because it doesnāt make any sense to me how crossguard needs 2h sword to work but we Highlander donāt have any pierce skill at all.
Shame.
I understand that and I have done it once in a while. But what I was talking about was to use Finestra, which lows the evasion rate and raises crit rate, to actually block attacks and not evade them, as you mentioned pelts are doing.
Iām running a Sm1, High3, Hop2, Dragoon and itās working really well right now at level 170 ish, I do a ton of damage with spears, and this lets me get around the crossguard issue by going into a piercing stabbing burst once crossguard procs.
If I donāt need to tank in a dungeon or mission, and I donāt need crossguard, I can toggle off into a spear build for more dps.
Laslty, Iām playing around with toggling a yellow gem in my spear and green gems in my swords to average out finestraās bonus crit and maintain constant crit. lemme know if you guys have ideas!

If anyoneās interested, the idea behind this build was to build a character that could do very well on bosses solo, purely through hit and run kiting a boss. I like swordies. That is probably the only reason for using a swordie base.
As for the ranks, I wanted every rank to add some kind of scaling element. Barbs tend to add flat damage and need to stack, which does not fit a scaling hit and run boss build. The three main elements are Armor break, spear lunge, and gae bulg. Armor Break will continue to scale as mobs get higher in level (or as defense goes up). Spear Lunge gives 2x pierce damage. Gae Bulg will be level 5 for attributes. Skill wise swordie skills donāt actually add much damage. Even Seism only reads 1000 damage maxed (1.7 if you went c3 barb). I think that only dragoon or dopple skills will keep up with an archerās DPS, hence why cataphract and barb are not in this build.
Someone can recommend me a build with high3 corsair 2?
Doppel 2
/20characters
In that case, doppel 1, worth just one circle?
Yes, sorry, I miscounted.
Fencer seems something that people pick too.
Shinobi for PvP?
Mostly Fencer or Doppel
EDIT: Reference builds
(No clue why there is Barbarian C1 in this)
Pirate/Ninja/Knight is an actual build? I thought they were mortal enemies.
Yes
We are in ToS afterall with out of this world mechanics
So technically, an Aristocrat could happen to be a pirate and also knows Ninjutsu
