Help: Archer C3 > Ranger C3 or Ranger C2> Haven't decided> Mergen?

Hi guys, originally a Ragnarok player (still is) and I’m kind of new to the game, and how classes works.When I started playing, I was a bit surprised how everything works differently. I do need some of your advice.

I am now Level 80 Archer C3 > Ranger C1, and I want to become a Mergen, the mobbing type. So far, I am stuck there, as I am unsure of what to do next? I mean I already can’t change the path Archer C3 > Ranger C1 (Unless of course, there is a potion, similar to that of the TP shop who does that).

Mergen isn’t the best for AoEing.

Also, Archer3 is in general a mistake ;/. You either keep it on 1 or go c2 to get the Swift Step (25% more crit rate) attribute.

If you want AoE type of damage, you should aim for SR3

rank 4 is considered early. The first time i reroll to a complete new char lv 1 is when my wrong build char at lv 267. But if you still want to continue, pick ranger 2 then.
For mobbing type you need to NOT finish lv8 quest -The burn whereabouts (the first yellow quest at wooden linked bridge map, east of Orsha). It will make one screen radius of enemies instantly provoked at your presence.
i prefer Archer2Ranger2ScoutRogueFalconMergen.
Mergen is a budget build compared to SR, because you only need to enhance your 2H bow

…but dont come here and tell us other classes out DPS you AoE wise and prolly also ST wise :wink:

I’m kinda scared to go to the path of a mergen now, lol. I kinda wanted to become a mergen upon seeing those gifs actually. But I browsed all over and found out AOE wise, the character ain’t good. But hey, I’ll try to see how. If it’s so bad, I think I’ll just have to wait for rank 9. :frowning: :sob::sob:

How about AOE Character build wise? is pure 2 Dex, 1 Strenght a good one? or more to strenght than Dex?

Current Archer Meta is full Dex.

If you going to play a bit PvP you will need some STR for block penetration. If its just for PvE, go full DEX. There are not many mobs that will block you anyway.

Now that the truth has been revealed, what do you want to do? Stay with the archer? Move on to a diff class?

Archers don’t really aoe. Any aoe’s they do have need to be cycled. In RO you could spam everything. If you wanted to aoe you would get a nice cluster of mobs and just spam your aoe. ToS went with the skill cd format so you can’t really do that. The “spammiest” you can get with the archer I think is [barrage] from ranger. If you want that, you’ll need rogue as well for the combo with [feint] and [barrage].

Now if you are ok with “suffering for a while” you could aim for cannoneer. It has a decent aoe with a 5 sec cd. But with the way it’s shaping up, you want either a sapper or a hunter with it.

Actually, your suggestion for Rogue sounds good, I was checking out the class earlier on. Feint with Barrage sounds good.

So again, what is it you want to do? If you still want to focus on aoe and you like rogue here are some options:

  • a3-ra1-ro2-ca2
  • a3-ra1-ro1-sc1-ca2
  • a3-ra1-ro1-fa1-ca2
  • a3-ra1-sc1-fa1-ca2

A little warning, once you get cannoneer you will be “forgetting” every rank you ever had except archer2. In that set up you will probably only be using cannon skills since [kneeling shot] and [bazooka] stance only allow auto atk or cannon skills.

Another warning about rogue. DO NOT TAKE the attribute dagger mastery: sudden attack. See this thread for more information.
