Hey,
So I been in both betas, and played up to lv226 for Templar. The thing that concerns me is that. Playing through Tree of Savior it feels like the Developers havnt felt or experienced their own gameplay? And it feels this way through the class balancing, and experience distribution as you level.
For example, If you wanna get money through quests in the beginning. You start in Orsha. Other then that, a lot of klaipeda quests dont do that. Even though you can switch between. Im sure if you dont know you can, no one would think about heading to orsha if they hit a wall. Specially for EXP. Didnt even know you could buy a warp scroll to Orsha from the Klaipeda Merchant.
Then the potions update in quests? Tells me that they didnt consider that necessary before when it pretty much was.
There are some major major major exp walls. 160-177 can be one if you dont manage your cards well. Which you cant expect people to do that… seeing how this game is so unique with that kind of Card EXP system. There is another after lv190. And thinking long term, I really doubt anyone wants to spend a week/month getting one level. Its going to feel like Vanilla MapleStory. Which I played for 4+ years? And before they modified quests, exp, grinding… it could of taken you 3-4 months just to hit lv 60-70. On a game with 200 levels. People found that dreadful. I remember sitting there falling behind friends. Getting 0.01 percent every 5 minutes. Maybe even less percent. And It would take me a full week of grinding just to get my next level. If I recall correctly, this was around lv 80 or so.
Supposedly EXP Tomes arnt very effective for Open World grinding. Sounds pretty redundant having the tomes if they arnt very effective.
After lv 220, Missions are totally useless. And you can only do those 3 times a day? A boss around your level at 220 only gives 1 percent exp. Thats terrible and worthless. You think something youre limited to do would give you more exp… And its worse when you dont have a level balanced party.
There is a map around lv 220-225 that has no quest but filled with puzzles. I seen no one there. And I tried doing them. One is kind of like a match card. but its a ton of boxes. And you have 20 tries to get rid of all the boxes by matching 2 each. The catch is they change their match or they sometimes stop working at intervals. It seems pretty impossible to do. If you dont succeed, they disappear and you cant do them again.
There seems to be a lack of quests and a huge call for grinding, even though the spawn rate is pretty oddly made to fit grinding? Which isnt fun waiting for several minutes for a new mob.
In some maps, its really hard for some or most classes to progress alone. One monster can take 5 minutes to kill because it has 6-10 times the HP then typical mobs with in that area. But it has no gain thats worth the amount of time and effort put into it.
Additionally, going Templar, there is a huge power sacrifice for a social indulging mechanic. Which is cool and makes sense. But thinking in the long term. If itll be necessary to go 3 full circles of this class to be a successful guild. You, as a character, are going to be fairly weak. Doesnt make sense for a class that makes GVG available. You will struggle to level solo if it calls for it. And if you dont have a static group for leveling thats on the same page. Youre pretty much screwed for leveling above levels 225+.
Finding groups to level can be a lot harder then having a static. And it just gets worse as the game gets older and if the game isnt popular… you just start seeing a decrease in the community. Its same way with low level characters. It becomes harder for them because no one is leveling low levels… and when grinding starts becoming important… there is very few people there willing to do it.
There is a neglect in weapon types seen at lv 220. I havnt seen a single 1 handed spear at lv 220 on the market place. And clerics could use more “wizard blade” type weapons.
I havnt seen very many artifacts. And I kind of feel like it was intentional to make them very rare. But it would be nice to see some common ones other then daggers.
All of my thoughts i can think of as of now…
