GVG/PVP/BOSS build (dragoon)

I switched between archer to embrace my passion for Spear + Mount manliness. I just need to ask a couple of questions.

Which build is the most viable for PvP and Heavy GvG?

I can Choose between:
Sw3->Cata3->Goon
Sw2->Hop1->Cata3->Goon
Sw2->Hop3->cata1(not for trot, just for mount stats purpose)->Goon
Sw2->Hop3->Doppel1->Goon.

Which build should i pursue. I like The third one the most. I feel like trot is good but not worth sacrificing 2 Circles and pvp damage for lvl 15.

You take cata 3 for Rush and Trot, so

this isn’t exactly correct. rush is very good really and you get to move fast with it unlike cyclone.

the first build really works for pvp

I admit i had forgotten about rush.

What if i drop one SW circle to grab hoplite and make my life easier? Or do i lose nothing by skipping hop to go SW3?

I’ve seen people do it, a common mix of pvp/pve is

Sword>pel>hop>cata 3>dragoon
Sword2>pel>cata 3 >dragoon
Sword2>hop>cata 3>dragoon

but since you wanted pvp focus just get SW3>Cata3 because pain barrier level 15 and Restrain 10 will bring you far

you lose some skills that are good for bossing, but you really get better at pvp since you wouldn’t want to used those skills on pvp anyway.

Another pvp build I’ve seen with cata is highlander to root archers with cross guard, but of course it’s situational since there are a lot of mages in pvp

I don’t intend to max Pain Barrier, due to its high base duration. But i COULD go for Peltasta 1… I mean, i would lose… what, a bit of duration on pain barrier and a bit of restrain chance?

IDK tho, i think i could still tank w/o it.

5-10 restrain is a pretty big difference though, it’s twice the chance and longer duration

and there are no better skills on sword 2, getting gungho level 5-10 difference is 15 damage, level 5 gungho with attributes does enough if you want it

Sw2 pel cata3 dgoon here. The dilemma is this, for PvP catas usually you will want to go high dex to hit other pvp builds and you really will lose a lot of evasion by foregoing guardian becuz it has attribute for 18% evasion which is huge. If you forego guardian you need to put more into dex and less into str which means you will have a harder time penetrating block since in a future patch str will give block penetration. The other thing is that with low str you wont do a lot of damage since in pvp your crit rate will be resisted like crazy by all the full con builds so some str really helps.

But in the end its your build and it depends on what kind of pvp build you are going for.

Ok, what is guardian? I’m a newb, don’t bash me pl0s, i gibe you moni

it’s half the reason you go peltasta, 18% evasion attribute from “guardian” skill

Doesn’t it require shield, tho? I kinda hate swapping.

I come from a long legacy of stance-dancing DK on 3v3 arenas and Combat dagger + Shield into 2h Spear swapping for my LK @rag. I’d hate to swap.

Guardian has no equipment requirements. I use it with 2 handed spear.

Guardian has no weapon restrictions

swash only requires you to have either shield or dagger off-hand

Well, i’m PvP Focused, so guardian is truly useful (as for i’m going 3:1:2 STR CON DEX), so i’ll have a good portion of evasion, a nice hp and quite some damage.

I could also use having a shield to swap just to level up / grind dungs / ET.

I think i’ll grab Pelta 1 after SW

A word of warning tho, you cant have gungho and guardian up at the same time.

And you cant use 1 handed spear until dragoon.

Which would you find more useful for pvp, gung or guardian? Or just switch depending on situations?

Because i find 18% > 15 atk.

I didnt put points into gungho at all.

With attributes gungho give more atk and you lose more def which i dont like. But i guess it would be nice against mages where def loss doesnt matter.

Switch, Guardian is a total crap dead weight in some maps. But it’s usually better than gung-ho

To be fair i havent been in any maps where its all magic damage.

I meant for pvp, haha

  1. Ibre plateau
  2. lower level maps/dungeons (boss rushing) where more damage becomes relevant to do things faster and where a bit more evasion doesn’t matter
