Guide to Fencer / Doppel / Bullet Marker [PVE]

Personally I like dex more because of evasion.

Here’s a good look on my stats

note that I didn’t follow any specific ratio, it looks like 1:1:3
but I went with something like:
Level 2-100: all dex, etc

eventually you’ll have more str/damage with gladiator bands or sissel, as well as max petamion

How Barb2>Cor>Fencer2 would compare to Barb2>Corsair>Doppel2? From the little I can see (I’m @lv.125 – most of my chars end up being deleted around lv.110 for a reroll), Fencer gives you burst damage (pierce, improved evasion for 4s and debuff with 0s cd skills) whereas Doppel2 gives you sustained dps (great buff and AoE).

I ask you guys this because I like Corsair2 but that makes somewhat to follow to a rank 8 class. With either Fencer2 or Doppel2, I can get these classes’ to 3 (if there will be a c3 Fencer/Doppel) in case Matador/Luchador ain’t that good. I believe Corsair2>Fencer to be the better choice right now but I don’t want to reroll for a 9th, 10th, 11th time, you know?!

Well, you already answered your question pretty much.

It’s a powerful slash type AOE+2H Sword multi hits
VS
Pierce bursts + consistent Slash/Pierce attacks

so build your character depending on what you want to do, if it’s a money maker to spam 130 dungeon solo like what I do, fencer is a great choice,

if it’s for farming silver on maps like workshop, fencer works but you need aoe attack ratio items which are expensive to make your farming/grinding comfortable.

While doppel already has access to it a bit more because Magi 2H Sword alone already gives you 2 ratio, as well as a 360 degree AOE that you should be using with pain barrier most of the time.

and don’t forget that DPE on shinies. High level gold shinies gives you a lot.

Surprised that I wasent tagged somewhere in this post…
Lately I seem to be the absolute go to person when it comes to fencer stuff.

I’ve not read over your post but it seems lie you’ve got everything under control~

The thing is: in ToS, things change a lot in end game (from what I read). I mean, I can Helm Chopper + Cleave + Seism + AA many mobs right now with Golden Falchion only. I think this won’t be possible @240+. I’ve seen some videos on YT where Fencer hooks someone at close range and spam skills almost killing (or killing) someone. I don’t know how much more damage Fencer 2 brings than Fencer 1 but I do know Hexen Dropper gives a good burst on cd and DWA can be a filler while everything else in con cd (but I don’t know if they’re good on pvp – I know pvp state is quite unbalanced; at best). Anyway, those small differences make me uncertain of what to choose. DPE must be good on shinies but I don’t come across them often. DoV sounds great but I hate self buffing (but if it’s OP, then it’s worth the effort). There are personal preferences and end game “variables” (stuff I don’t know past lv.220) that makes me think a lot. That’s why I like asking questions to people who actually play/played the game to its “fullness”.

Anyways, let’s say I want to tank (that’s what brought me to Fencer – high evasion and decent hp with reasonable damage), improve my money making while leveling up and possibily help a party in world bosses or a casual pvp. For rank 6 and 7 (previous SW>pelt>barb2>corsair), what classes would fit my desires better (keeping rank 8 in mind)? I know the definitive answer can only come from me, but, if it was your build, what would you choose to achieve those goals?

P.S.: I’m questioning here because I don’t care about meta (ET? I’ll pass…) and I’m trying to stop deleting chars when they get to lv.110 because they start to bore me. I want something different that makes me feel “unique” or surprise people, you know?

@Lostac

So I’ve ad over some things.

And I have to recommend Putting a value point into Pouncing (or just maxing it honestly)
it might not hit mobs properly but Ive found that after a Lunge boost you reach some massive DPS on bosses in that 10s. (And it DOES hit bosses properly btw)
You should get about 25 hits out of it in 10s duration (Can be increased by ATK speed)
At max lvl Pouncing deals 1077 base (without attributes) per hit which is effectively 26k dmg in 10s (again w/o attributes)
which is kinda slow… But its a lot for a swordie and a lot more DPS then anything in the Fencer kit will net you in the same amount of time.

To increase its chances of going off, try popping Pain Barrier right before you use Lunge and/or Cleave -> Pouncing, and its near impossible for bosses without HEAVY CC (Freeze, Petrify and ect) to stop it from going off.
(This will change in the future though, as in kTOS Pain Barrier has 70% status resist now making it 10x harder for it to be stopped, even in PvP…)

Really the only thing holding Pouncing back from being a mandatory pick is its long ass CD… (which was lowered in kTOS…)

As for gearing, I feel like everyone eveenually out grows the Vubbe Fighter Gauntlets… Honestly i dropped them around lvl 40…
And I actually don’t think the crystal bangle is that good past lvl 75-100 ish…

Preferences are preferences though theirs no wrong way to do anything here these are just my opinions.

Everything else 100% in my book with the exception of the Sissel bracelet…
and here is why:
Its in game description is wrong (and has been for some time now…)

How it actually works is: Triggers [Frenzy] for 5 seconds when an enemy avoids your attack

avoids your attack

Which as a Fencer you should be building DEX anyway making your accuracy pretty high and its going to be very rare that you actually miss an attack…
However if your going s high STR build Fencer with little to (or no) DEX then by all means Sissel bracelet is nearly OP as long as you have enough accuracy to not miss the frenzy boosted attacks.

Thats about it really, good guide!

Just last thing again preferences are preferences and im not a fan of the Barb2->Corsair2…
I’m more keen to Highlander2->Corsair2 simply because of Cross Guard silliness, and Barb2 being absolute trash at AOE dmg…
When blocking an attack with Cross Guard Piercing attacks deal a 2nd hit that deals 50-75% of the dmg of the original hit, so…
Cross Guard then Buffer swap to your Rapier and dagger and Hexon Dropper x2 is going to murder Bosses… but this is more for soloing…

@Lostac
Oh wait!
you do have a value point in Pouncing…
well nvm then!

(could swear it wasent there when i glanced at it before… oh well!)

it’s there, trust me lol. I myself consider it as a mini cyclone

Appearance wise i like it better then Cyclone >_>

Do people even use sissel for frenzy ??
even full str build wont miss a hit if you upgrade your glove.
for me sissel is for 37 crit rate and the phys atk.

Right now I also dont see any leather gloves capable of outdoing vubbe utility wise pre-220

Yes, that’s the very reason to take sissel IMO, usually only hoplites like it for frenzy

But I still favor glad bands over it anyway since I use my fencer for mob farming

Vubbe+1 Glad Band ~ 4 targets. works pretty well since I don’t like cata rapier

A lot of people do actually.
But it IS more for the 37 Crit and Phys atk
but the crit rate is WAY out classed by Gems (Or DEX if your at least building SOME DEX)
Which is why I prefer Glad Band over it

Eh that th thing I dont really use Leather on swordies so Im not sure…
I always found the Stamina and HP + DEF from Plate to be a godsnd when soloing
But I guess around Rank 5+ is when most stop using it…

I dropped it around 40 in favor of plate armor

Yes, I have a plate set other than my leather set too, so Vubbe is usually always a core on leather set

At least for a while, but i still feel like every build outgrows them eventually
Not saying that you have stated otherwise.
just saying that i just don’t think they are the ultimate gloves that everyone thinks they are.

especially when set bonus’s come into play

Fencer and barb have str or dex scalling skills ?

What about a full dext ? would i be worth ? ( with points in con to get 20k hp )

Or the “buff” on str is important ?
