Not really, what will make you good for PVE or PVP will be the classes you choose. Going Swordsman c3 is best for PVP but it’s a pain to level no matter which skills you choose. Sure you can think on a different skill point allocation to ease your leveling a bit but I’m pretty sure it won’t make almost any difference, so I’d save my money.
hey there, i was really fond of the Swordsman > Peltasta > Hoplite > Hoplite > Hoplite > Doppelsoeldner > Dragoon.
But after seeing your Swordsman > Highlander > Highlander > Highlander > Hoplite > Hoplite > Dragoon, im really considering going this route, but my lack of knowledge of the game worries me a bit, if you have time to answer a few questions i would apreciate.
- word around is that swordmen players without peltasta taunt are pretty much avoided by groups, specially in endgame and serious stuff. Can i really bring enough dps/ultilty to the group with this build to justify the lack of taunt?
- you basically use the 2handed sword for the cross guard right? and when you switch to the 2 handed sword you lose the finestra buff?
- will the lack of AoE (aka cyclone) and deeds of valor gimp me in solo farm eficiency?
- i also see some people saying dragon soar is not that good and kinda bugged, and that we should place only 1 point into it.
-It seems that a lot of buffs and skills will lose their awesomeness after lvl 280 in the future by simple math and scaling (finestra for example), while others will maintain their usefullness, cause of debuffs (highlander), do you have any knowledge on this?
im not really a fan of sword and board and with the Sm>Pel>hopC3>dopel>dragoon, i would have to rock 1hand+shield a lot it seems.
1-yes, the thing is that koreans build their swordsman like ■■■■, if u build it right u will be able to dps even better than the others.
2-duno
3-not very good, but high level maps are more 1v1 than 1vX cus there are elites everywhere
4-finestra is awesome, dont worry about that xD, but some skills/buffs fall off. (but finestra is too good for that xD). u could get 1 point from serpentine and put in dragon soar. but dont worry too much about these scaling things, both builds u said u like are good and wont fall of

this build isnt good cus u dont take skull swing (the main reason to go highlander c3) and dont take max level finestra.

skull swing if mainly for bosses, and its pretty powerfull

If we are talking about PvP here, fisrt one with Corsair will be more useful. However, Corsair skill points allocation are needed to be revised for this to work, so you will lose out on PvE.
Cata build will give you a pretty good all-around start both for PvE and PvP. You said you wanted to tank, go with this one then. Cata will do good in PvP no matter what.
4:2:2 - since you will need more CON to survive because of your class choices.
Corsair for dual-wield with 1H Spear and Dagger. Doppel only if C1.
- Not only because ot that, Doppel is a 2H Sword specialist. All his skills on C2 require 2H Sword as a main weapon.
- Yes, it will be deactivated.
- Not really, they just differ with bonuses and damage. If you want to increase it, use buffs.
- Frenzy stacks only with autoattacks.
- Nope, the level of skills only affects if you get attribute or not. Guardian level 1 can already net you with Evasion.
As for the build:
- Get at least 3 point in War Cry for damage increase.
- What’s wrong with your DoppelC2? And by the way, you only need 8 in DOV for uptime.
Swordsman are a pain to level in general. There is a reason they are only good for PvP, as their skills lack a lot. So if you want a PvE build, you should go with another.
I can recommend going either Sword - Pelta - Hop3 - Doppel - Drag or Sword - High - Barb3 - Doppel2.
Yes, they will with exception of some special ones, like Synchro Thrusting.

Highlander =/= Skyliner spam. We already discussed this.
Even without looking I can already tell you to take the first build. Currently, it’s a benchmark for tanking.
- That’s silly. I see many saying that Pelta is mandatory, but you can build your way around is and still be good. The build you mentioned is a single-target nuker.
- Yes, you are correct.
- Nope, albeit barely. You still have enough DPS to not worry about mobs. This is a specialized build anyway, focusing on boss-killing.
- It’s bugged, but it’s still multihit, so worth taking.
- Finestra doesn’t actually lose it’s usefulness. It gives you free +150 Crit Rate.

Cata build is mainly used for mobile tanking, so naturally, the first one will have more DPS and skills that support it. However, it doesn’t mean the second one can’t damage.
Well the words you used were Quite Average. Does that I wont be discriminated against when ppl are looking for DPS in group content? Are tanks popular since the game doesnt req them?
Do Parties/Pugs usually prefer the Utility of a Cata Dragoon or the Pure Damage of a Hop Dragoon
Cus I was just thinking that we are only at the 7th Circle and I heard there will be way more circle’s in the future. So I was thinking that maybe eventually most of the Hoplite 3 skills become outdated once the higher circles are released (except maybe Finestra?), but a Cata’s Mobility is sort of useful all throughout. … and I want to ride a hamster
