When the server goes FTP expect a full server wipe and your characters to be gone. Expect to download a lot of patches on that day as well. I’m fortunate to have to wait until the 28th to play even though I can’t wait. I’m not saying it’s a sure thing and I could be wrong but this is the same thing that was going on with my old game. The server got cleared a few times. It did solve the problem but it killed the game. That game was also 15 years old and this is brand new so it for sure won’t kill this game.
What will happen? The players that play now will quit. They will come back after a few months and start playing again even though they say they won’t. The bots and gold sellers will leave during that time of the wipe and move on. There will be a few instances where it will happen and the community that will come in after the current players leave will report them within seconds of spotting them. The new player base and the old after a few months will finally have a great time together and all is well within ToS then and forever. 
Mentally prepare for it now so it doesn’t shock you on the 28th.
