Grindless road to Rank 8: It's ok to solo now (if no one wants you in grind parties)

It’s not as easy as you make it sound because your build is actually waaay above average.

But it’s still true, you can reach R8 without grind. And once R8 hits getting R8 job 15 is hella fast aswell, people get it around 315.

Can you explain what would be an average build and why would it be harder for it/them compared to mine?

There’s a reason why posts like “parties don’t need you if you’re not a peltasta” exist, whether it’s true or not isn’t my concern but rather to tell others that it is possible to get to R8 without having to join grind parties which unfortunately mostly favors Pelts compared to non-Pelt builds.

There are builds that barely kill more than one single enemy at a time.

Rush cata has both damage and mobility, unrivaled mobility actually(only SR C3 will surpass it).

All you have to do is find maps with high mob density and you’ll be fine for most of the time.Average and below builds can (mostly)only level on specific maps, combined with specific mobs.

People are dumb for not accepting Cata on parties, their only weakness are cooldowns and any decent party needs a Chrono C3…

P.s: I mean on solo leveling.

Can’t disagree with that. Same as what @deanleroy89692 said earlier.

I should have clarified that at least for the sword class. Some builds (who may not be welcome to grind parties) might find it faster or slower to quest and do kill counts than mine, but at least there’s assurance that a non-grind option is there. Unless it’s a really messed up build, I still can’t figure out what PVP build who isn’t wanted in grinds would have a hard time soloing.

I may not have much knowledge about other classes but it just seems they’ll always have core roles to fill in: wizards can either be DPS, CC/support or both; and clerics being healers/support. Some archer builds may have problem getting into grind parties too but they should be able to solo with minimal problems.

It’s pretty much what you’ve said.

Archer has the biggest gap between most useless to most useful.(Archer is king of “rainbow builds” and also has the weakest start on core classes)
Swordie has a smaller gap, it’s floor is around Archer’s average(but the early core is solid).

Cleric and WIzard? The game is your playground.

i actually like grinding more then questing… it bring me back the old nostalgia of RO xd
dont have any issue with swordie in my party except the swordie that say "im not tank im dps"
so, u want me as healer to tank, support, heal? just go grab the mob lol the support will heal u and ress if u die xD
also, someone that goes yolo and ignoring party mate especially qs with their running shoot =.=…
well, its all up to player attitude… i met some nice swordie without pelt that can do just fine in party~

Dailies and minimal grind (I grind 2 levels at Evac and 1 level at Alemeth only) will get you to rank 8

I still have half of Maven quests left, and many kill count I didn’t bother to do on those mage mobs

I wish there was a more detailed guide out there that included the newer quest maps added.Hard to find them on my own.

Nice! :+1:

Yeah I did skip completing some kill counts as well, especially on some mobs with ridiculous kill count requirements considering how high their HP is and that they’re hard-hitting magic.

Currently, I’m running quests at Solitary Cells and I think I’m gonna skip Red Socket Mages as they hit so hard. I forgot and haven’t tried using Sup. Korvos Greaves instead of Greytis though so I might try again and see if it makes them tankable. If not, I just won’t bother.

Haven’t killed one yet, but I think Red Darkness Maidens could be worse.

Indeed!

The BetterQuest addon does help a ton though as it makes sure you get every quest in every map (though some quest has prerequisites which only gets unlocked and appears on the quest journal once you’ve cleared/started a previous quest).

I think the only problem with grindless leveling is when you’re able to play perhaps more than 5 hours each day as you really don’t want to pop a lot of exp cards right away to move on to a higher level map for new quests as you might not have enough cards later on for when you hit an exp wall (e.g. next available quest map or dungeon is still several levels away). I guess this is where grinding really becomes necessary. Of course, grinding I think is still better in terms of acquiring silver in-game.

Red darkness maiden is fine, they do missile attack and some smoke bombs.

I finished the blue guardian spider there though, since I spent some days collecting legs for dailies

Oh, thanks for the tip! Gonna save those spider legs then.

Glad to hear maidens aren’t magic. Lachrymator is annoying though.

Just don’t. Assuming you got 8m/hour in grind PT, 1,2m is worth 15 minute of grinding. Just stop doing it when you reach 200

I reroll just to get ready for r8
I beable to reach lv 200 within one week. Just doing all the quest and mission.
At the early day i do just enough lv3 lv4 lv5 exp card map just to reach 10 lv map above current lv. Just allittle tips is that dungeon 145 give a hugh exp. Once you use all the card to reach 145. Stop using card and try to enter 145 dun as many time as u can and use it later at lv around 165 where u cant enter 145 dun anymore.
I just keep doing all the quest on 10lv map above.

I do think cata is great for PvE iunno why ppl dont like him, however the taunt is hard to beat for grinding parties.

true, but sometimes it isn’t possible to find a party - especially as a non meta class

Which is why we need the dungeon queues just like TBL, you can walk and do everything you need…

Circle 3 swordsmen will never get any love. We really cannot blame them. Any swordsman with Pelt circle 1 is just so much more effective in taking mob aggro.

Please do not misunderstand me. I have a pelhop and an S3 catagoon.

They treat my S3 like an accessory for exp bonus, while my pelhop like a pornstar. No need to look for a party, just show up using a peltasta costume, instant invites.

I really don’t understand why all the complain about grinding, RO was all about grinding, and this one is no difference. Grinding is the very soul of these kind of games. It’s also an easy game to level, I think the exp card system only exists because americans and/or teens nowadays don’t enjoy grinding. I got from 279 to 280 soloing in a couple of hours in Maven, a piece of cake compared to what it was the original RO, or Lineage 2, for example.

BTW, I play with a C1 Swordman, C1 Barbarian, C3 Highlander, C2 Doppel, and I really love the gameplay, wouldn’t change it for any other class.
