There is no destructive/negative criticism. Criticism is always meant to show others a way to improve. If you do not, you pejorate them or insult them, but you’re not criticising them.
The problem I find is that criticism is generally “ignored” by IMC, making the players fretful in the process, which causes people to stray from the path of criticism and starting to ridicule them. Once it has come to that point, you know that something is wrong, since the players are the customers of their gameplay service.
We have seen that dog in the burning room meme and that IMC approved seal of quality a lot of times over the course of the last year, and that’s because IMC played the silent goldfish. Even that Kim Hakkyu account on the forum seemed fake and only was used to make a single statement,point.
Without recreating all the drama, criticism is required and needed to advance from a state of ignorance towards a state of “completion”.
If there had been some kind of feedback like “we’ve already taken this into consideration” or “we don’t have the manpower to focus on that” or “we don’t want the game to change into this direction”, a lot of unneccessary drama could’ve been avoided. Feedback is no one-way road, feedback requires feedback,too.
That’s also why topics derail sooner or later. Too many cars in the one-way street of feedback IMC offers us, so the first counter-argument can turn people into wrong-way drivers.
