Give Templar new Attributes as exchange for not having combat skill

Well, templar is suppose to be guild leader. And no leader is weakling, at least a leader is an expert in his field and combat.

so… give templar attributes that related to weapon/off-hand effectivity such as:

  • 1-handed sword increase attack damage: increase attack speed by xx for each attribute level
  • 2-handed sword increase attack-speed
  • rapier increase evasion
  • shield increase block rate
  • dagger increase defend
  • etc2
  • (this only an example)

the concept is:

  1. max level is 50, so it will take a while to master every weapon/off-hand
  2. every weapon/off-hand have each unique stat increase
  3. every weapon increase on effectivity is covering what that weapon’s lack, such as maybe 1-sword is lack of damage, axe is lack of accuracy, 2-handed sword is lack of aspd, etc2… Or increase that weapon further effectivity such as 2-handed spear increase block penetration, etc2.
  4. for class balance purpose, the increase is by little flat amount (maybe 1-3 point per attribute, depend on what stat that increase), not by percentage. Since this templar is already at high rank&lvl and max attributes is already lot, 50.

NOTE: well my friend who always my guild leader at other MMO feel this templar class is useless for rank 7 and give up being guild leader. LOL…
And suddenly i have this kind of idea to strengthen up templar by give him new attributes. It is very absurd if guild leader dont like his character’s class and using only to create guild only…

Interesting… GLeaders need to have fun too o/

Or, at least give them a very strong burst skill or a 0s cooldown spammable like Skyliner.

@Dream

skillpoint-wise, it still not be an easy decision then. he already have 4 guild-related skill and 1 buff skill.

does the guild buff at least effect the leader as well? i cant seem to find any info on this . i always think a summon would suit a guild leader more in terms of a more attack skill. since they are meant to be a leader a ability to summon a soldier or something would be interesting

@MasterSlayer

yes it affect guild leader and ppls near him. But for me the buff is bad only increase str.

yes, that idea maybe will show up on templar c2 or c3? ability to summon soldier or guardian to guard guild tower, he he

Templars as they are now just seem like a throwaway class. Most guild leaders I know ( including me ) are just making a Templar for the guild first and then making an new character ( the one they actually want to make ) next. It’s like making a guild requires a long quest which is lvling a character to 235.

It wouldn’t be so bad if you were only throwing away rank 7 ( which still sucks ), but Templar isn’t a hidden class, meaning that once rank 8 / 9 are out, you’ve got 2 more ranks of Templar to deal with. I am not looking forward to this at all.

It would be cool if Templar had attributes that synergized with the type of swordsman you were. Maybe something that you could only get as a spear-user, shield-user, two-handed user, dual-weilder, that would buff the respective stance.

yea zhouyu, that what i suggest in my thread. give weapon expertise so increase the effectivity the whole class that player choose.

i agree. i can understand if a Templar does not have many/any combat skills but to make teleport like 5 points into Templar 1 seems like a waste. they would be better off making a bunch of skills to choose from with only 1 or so ranks in it like the battle order buff with only 1 rank, telepeort members to you 1 rank to teleport 5 members ext while having new skills like

Guild Rallygives a request for all members to teleport to your location long cooldown,

Summon Guard- Summons a sword and shield soldier that protects the guild master,

Inspiration- Depending on what weapon the guild master has equipped members are buffed with the following (One hand spear = Crit chance higher, Two hand sword = Atk, 1 hand Sword = Defense , Rapier = Evade 2 Hand Spear = Block Penetration

while when i look at it now 5 points go into tower and then you only got the choice of reducing crafting, raising str *which only helps physical attacks, and teleporting where it has much more potential

it does not seem like much of a leader sort of class as it is at the moment

While flat stat buffs and strong skills are great, I think it’d be more interesting to gain a chance to summon “clones” of guild members as a skill or attribute - this could potentially even work with centurion formations and still be quite guild themed.

Honestly… having guilds attached to a single character class is a really bad design decision to begin with, let alone a class that requires months of grinding to get.

That is intentional.

It makes you work towards getting a guild and makes that guild more precious to you once you achieve Templar and Templars seem more like charismatic leaders rather than a leader of brute strength or useful buffs, but I do agree that the class could use two more helpful buffs along with a little revision to its Battle Orders.
(Besides, your circles before Rank 7 should be enough to carry you through the game if you chose your circles wisely unless you just give your future Templar Squire circles instead.)

It is also an unique system that gives Templars a chance to get members before other people achieve Templar and create guilds.

Since Templars had to work hard to get their class, I’m certain they will actually take care of their guild, their members, and will do guild-related activities with their members.

don’t forget a class that only has 1 buff that only effects physical attacks , 1 that’s helps crafters , 1 that only effects the tower and 2 that only teleport.

as a class it could work if it was 1 rank but the fact a Templar is planned to go on rank 2 and 3 they really should have a different approach to Templars. giving Templars a bunch of skills they can invest into but only 1 level per skill *sort of like in RO you had a guild levelling system you had points you could spend into stuff like urgent call and things like that and if the Templar had a mix of summons, economic upgrades and buffs, combat upgrades and buffs, utility like summoning members ext I reacon then it could stand well but as it is atm it just seems kind of useless pretty much in terms of skills (5 points just to summon 5 members seems like such a waste)

I like that getting to Templar is difficult, and that it takes a sacrifice. I don’t like that it pretty much makes me have a throwaway character, and that I will eventually have to level what is essentially a rank 6 class character through rank 8 and 9, especially when I won’t even want to play that character as a main. It’s just such a waste.

Just to shed light on the other side of the argument. No templar can skip the 6 ranks needed to get to rank 7.

Anyway I propose [throw guildee].

Quoted myself from another Templar Thread

+5-10% Attack,Attack speed,Accuracy,Block penetration to Templar per 1 member who’s affect by “Battle Order” (Max50%) ( * - * )/

Attribute name’s Battle order : Leadership

Battle Orders also giving Int, and maybe even Con, Spr, and Dex would give the class abit more going for it as well I think.
That way, you may not get any new attacks but you’d atleast get a pretty decent all-stat boost.

I understand it’s design (being near the guild leader gives you more faith in your abilities/morale, I suppose?) but it’s a little underwhelming for a roughly-50% uptime buff at rank 7.
Especially when it only helps the physical-portion of your guildies.

Maybe remove the distance buff-loss too. I’m considering taking Templar for my Catafat, and I’d probably outrun my guildie party with Trot…

GL need to be strong. how about an attribute that gives Templar high stat buff (str/agi/int/or any other stat) depending on how many guild member he has. Or depending on his guild level (if any).

This will make templar more dedicated in searching for guild members and avoid other ppl to take templar just to get the buff.

And inb4, templar better be rank 6 hidden class i think…

I like the idea because a Templar C3 would have to go all the way to Rank 9.

Which makes one very important point:

  • Guildmembers will mostly support guildmaster to up since he probably won’t be doing much by himself, it might take a year to get to rank 8 or 9 with a templar without a lot of help from others.
