Game server location - check your ping

No, it is quite a challenge to write such game server/client software - and one wouldn’t choose the method you described. IMC hasn’t done this.

For patch downloads, however, the best possible data-center will be chosen.

Errr… its actually a really good system. and already in use by WoW. In WoW, changing “realm” (basically a channel) can send you to a different host location. meaning I can lvl or pvp in a local channel or a foreign one, depending on the party situation. Cross realm auction houses, channel/ host location switching regardless of your region… its all possible.

This is not what I was talking about, it’s a possible implementation though. It is stil not easy to efficiently implement and Blizzard did so after investing a lot of time and resources.

Yer, I assume blizz invested a massive amount of development to make their system do the things that it can do. but having said that. The work is already done, and out there somewhere. IMC wouldn’t need to start from square one, the technology is at this point now.

The concept has evolved and the research is partly public, yes, but the implementations are proprietary.

I’m guessing STEAM’s software is proprietary too, yet it brings ToS to us @_@…

What’s your point? They could also create instances of the game server in all Amazon data-centers around the world. They could also bring in a team of translators…

well one point is you don’t know what IMC have chosen to do unless you work there.

I’m sure they haven’t implemented this as there haven’t been any indications of such a major feature anywhere.

110 - 115, From Spain, not bad
I hope they launch an European server

To be easy there’s a server list in local files of ToS save you the time.

yeah, i think about blizzard (but more specifically d3), as we play in the same “realm”. We can create a game and invite NA friends for an example. But the ping varies between who creates the game, although servers share information. Maybe I will try WTfast or anything like that :expressionless:

I’m from Ohio too but have only 21… xD

I used to use Lowerping beta… Seems like I can’t use it anymore (even though i wanna pay for the fee)… Anyone got any program to recommend for ToS?
