Full DEX on Archers? Thoughts?

So I just came across an interesting video. This person has a LvL 168 Rogue and 255 DEX. It looks as if they’ve placed absolutely no points into anything else, save for a few into CON and STR.

Is it really worth it? Did any of you fellow CBT’ers pump into DEX and test this for yourselfs, and if you did how did it go?

I honestly did not, but I was doing 1k+ with Stone Shot crits only having about 60 STR and 30 DEX. For someone to be doing as little as 1.5k with Vendetta leaves me a little discouraged about this. But perhaps it’s better for other archer classes?

Also I can imagine having that amount of Crit Rate and Accuracy is pretty awesome, to say the least.

This gonna be an interesting thread <(")

possible to make a agi/dex build? i think full dex would be good for spamming skills but that atk spd is too low for an auto attack

Hrmm… I had around 42 str and 72 dex, but I have nothing to compare it to because that was the only thing I played throughout the beta. haha.

I made it to lvl 74 though without too much struggle. I only ever really felt weak when compared to a barbarian/pyromancer… Also I could dodge a decent amount but I was still fairly squishy to large groups of higher level mobs and a couple higher lvl bosses too. (glares at ravinepede)

There is no AGI. And you can’t increase attack speed with stats. Some buffs increase attack speed like Chronomancer and there are some selfbuffs, but that’s it.

I think it is viable if you go rogue C2 (or C3) because of the “Evasion” skill that buff your evasion %-wise, also I feel like STR does not give enough dmg for archer classes that doesn’t rely on skills to do dmg. So my guess is a Dex based build seems better than the other builds, but I don’t see full dex being viable if not for Rogue C2/C3 imho

I was 70 str 80 dex with 300 eva.

Higher level mobs and bosses couldnt touch me, my damage wasnt that small either. The problem here though is that at later levels mobs start using magic attacks, and those hurt.

Going full dex seems like a bad idea. Balancing it out around bonuses seems to be the way to build the archer.

My build didnt need my archer dealing damage but rather my pet ( reason why I boosted it so much).

I tried full dex vs str build archer and I find STR better than dex idk =w= I only spam multishot most of the time anyway and i made several characters up to 30 just to check the differences with builds etc. Str gives more damage not to mention it does add crit too o-o problem is your evasion rate and accuracy? I thought of doing full dex archer before too but it seems dope so I guess you could do str / dex build may it be max of 40 str and rest dex? on my case I wanna try full STR + SPR XD … if this game applies the [ crit damage as accurate as dex ] with regards from this game’s predecessor [ Ragnarok I ] XD it would be the same right?

Yeah, Critical Attack might just be too important of a stat to pass up. If someone were brave enough to put 255 into STR, the flat damage increase and crits would be insane most likely.

I wish the game had bonuses for every 10th stat. The fact that it doesn’t is the only reason things like this are even viable.

I don’t think it is worth to max out on dex, unless end game monsters have a lot of crit resistance.

You need to have a hefty amount of str to get that crit power going.

Build Dex Str 1:1 or 2:1 , it’s way better that pure str. Once you get your gems and bows with crit rate … you have like 60% crit rate chance with [Swift Step].
What’s better 50% on every hit or 100% (Base) more on 60% of hits?

By what i noticed, and i might be wrong on this, the stats are a bit broken for now, but on my ranger build i did Dex > Str with a difference of 10 points more for Dex, and tbh, worked well, if i had a guess, my dodge rating was around 70% and critical was around 65%, i dont know what would happen if i was go pure dex on the build, i could try that out on next time and see if its viable, at least i would dodge lots of stuff lol.

Did you do Archer Cricle 2? And Swift shot crit attribute?

Unfortunately for some classes Archer Circle 2 isn’t a possibility. In my case, Quarrel Shooter.

Without the Swift Steps attribute, the skill itself is pretty useless. But I suppose that’s a personal problem.

Quarrel Shooter… is probably the worst class in game imo atm.

Overall damage wise, maybe. If anything, it’s the most underplayed.

The dps loss out-scales the defense gain immensely , it forces you to leech .Quarrel Shooter is only good if you are planning on getting caried until you’re like rank 4-5.

God have mercy on your friends.

I mean its main skill runs off Attack % and not a flat rate. Which is amazing.

If you think about the classes late game functions, I think you’d have a much better opinion on it.

Also, my friends happen to love 9 second stuns. Ayyyyyy.

I did a pure DEX build for archer just for fun in the CBT, because I have to share acc with my bro so that I can only go up to lvl 39. (I am also late cause I got key in the 2nd wave)
In my opinion, pure dex archer is for lazy grinding play style, like mine, I mean the ridiculous amount of evasion make me almost impossible to get hit (almost 80% at lvl 39 in Tenet garden), and kneeling shot scale with dex so I just sit there in one spot and fire away and watch the crit jump (75% crit chance). Boss fight also become much easier, hit rate of the boss from lvl 1 - 40 (cannot say for later boss cause haven’t got up there yet :frowning:) is like 5%, I can just sit in one place and shoot the boss until it died. It also good for burst damage (like shotgun Barrage, u get crit like 3/4 out of 5 arrow if u stand near the boss)
Because of my lack of knowledge at the time, I make a mistake of going from Archer 1 > Ranger 1 and did not max my kneeling shot.
The biggest problem of this build is that you will have no damage if playing normally, meaning walking around shooting make your crit damage like other build normal damage), and any mob/boss that use magic might be able to 2 hit you (no dodge chance against them like Vensi, and I have hard time soloing the Specter Master(lvl20) at lvl 18) Beside that , it a cake walk, wait, let me correct, a SLOW cake walk.

I’m actually gonna have to disagree with you on that, because where I was leveling I found myself doing more damage than most rangers and archer 2’s.

Yes, QS is a defensive type class, but the damage wasn’t immensely lower from my observations. I solo’ed quite a few levels just fine for the amount of damage, and not once did I leech or have to leech.
