Flagging posts threshold too low?

It seem as though a lot of posts have been hidden due to flagging lately, but some of the posts weren’t offensive. In fact, I remember one that was completely innocent with nothing at all wrong with it. It was literally two words. “Drooling continuously” ( pretty much means this… ) which someone said in relation to some anticipated thing (I forget what exactly)

My point is, I really like the community flagging system and it has worked great in the past but I think the threshold may be a bit low. It would probably be a good idea to raise it a bit so that it takes a legit chunk of people to actually trigger the hide post/ lock thread feature.

 that’s all from me, have a nice day. give us beta soon :3

So where’s the actual post? I created a troll thread it didn’t even got deleted only locked. Flagging serves no meaning, people use it if they don’t like what you said regardless of community guidelines.

Actually-- it’s interactions like these that get flagged.

I’ll disagree that flagging serves no purpose as it’s a good means of self-moderation for the community to use. The CM team can’t be everywhere all at once, so allowing the community to step up to self-police gives them the ability to quickly zero in on discussions that need attention.

That being said, I’m not sure what the flag threshold is, but every discussion that I’ve seen closed because of it, warranted it in my book.

There’s been lots that have not warrented any flagging, the feature seems to be easily abused at the moment.
I mean look at my OP, one guy managed to hide it to try make a point. that’s not the community self moderating, the thresholds definitely need tweeking.

Spam thread. The real question is why is taht thread not closed yet.

Why is the first post in this topic hidden? Anyway, I also agree that the flag threshold needs to increase.

If you think people being happy and excited together is spam than you don’t have to read it =/

And then the irony

There’s nothing wrong in this topic, but it still getting flagged.
But I think CM will only lock a topic when the flag is high enough.

Honestly, current flagging system is actually a very shitty way to deal with certain misbehaving/offense on forums. Mostly due to how easy people can abuse it even if the content isn’t anything demeaning.

Giving power to the community is often a bad idea because the community itself is an integration of bad - and good people.

Imo the right idea of flagging (or reporting) should be that a moderator looks over these posts and decides if its worth hiding/removing or not. Which will then diminish the number of people abusing the tool because the mod will be able to see who’s repeatedly reporting posts that are inoffensive, and deal with the person himself.

Alternatively, if you really insist on a similar idea simply hire more community managers… duh.

in b4 flagged

I personally only flag posts that contain subjective, hate, offensive speech towards other users. As for those spam threads, I can’t really do anything about it. I want to flag it, but then what? The thread itself doesn’t contain any inappropriate content that violate the forum rules. Sometimes, there are users who don’t bother to read the whole forum threads and instead they will make their own threads that have similar topics with other threads that have already posted before. Can we really blame them?

Actually, spam threads are indeed against the rules and you are right in flagging them. People only keep posting the same kind of thread because there seems to be no one out there to enforce the rules.

I’m sure if we had someone diligent to lock the thread and direct them to the correct one eventually these type of posts would diminish.

Btw I just realized that even if the flag threshold is too low, people who keep making multiple accounts in order to flag certain post from certain people that they don’t like can still make another account to continue the system abuse. I’m currently discussing about this case with the admin about this personal flag attack. Hopefully we’ll find the solution soon.

I’m also discussing this with the admin, it’s a shame that people are abusing the system, we a suppose to be a community not fighting each other, it’s sad.

But I agree with @Illya that some threads need to be removed (such as our guild bank thread lol).

Btw some important discussions & threads (such as release date thread, introduction thread, what are you going while waiting for ToS thread, class build thread, in-game event suggestion thread, etc) also need to be pinned by the admin themselves. So new users can basically see those threads on the top of their screen and there’s no reason for them to start another thread. If they did start a thread, then simply flag them. The moderator can simply evaluate the post, give a link for forums rules, warn them and delete their thread.

If you have:
Way too much post.
Sent too many likes.
Posting external links.
Posting inappropriate contents.
Received too much likes,
Sent too much likes.
You flag way too much post.

If you’ve done at-least one of these then you are already marked as a spammer by the automated system, thus why your post are being flagged.
