First Impressions and feedback

Got to level 30 thought I would share my first impressions of the game and
wanted to know what other people thought. This is just my opinion.

I’ll start off with the good:

Graphics: They are great and the game is visually stunning

Sound/music: Music is amazing just like ragnarok, 5 stars. Combat sounds are pretty good. Voices could use an improvement.

Combat: Is pretty smooth can’t complain. Mouse movement and attack
could use some polish. I feel like there is too much AOE. Every skill
will hit multiple targets, even the swordsman auto attack. Makes it too
easy, killing 5 monsters at once with basic auto attacks does not feel
rewarding or challenging.

Things that I feel need some work:

Linear gameplay: This is the biggest letdown to me, and may be the
game breaker. Ragnarok was driven by a open world non-quest leveling
scheme. TOS is driven by linear quests, one after another, it gets
boring real quick. The maps are not large like Ragnarok, skinny and no
places to explore. So far there are very few connected maps to go
explore. At this point in time this game is even more linear than WOW.
One starting zone, only one path to go, no exploration, and quest after
quest.

Bosses: The bosses are instanced and offer no challenge. Every boss
feels the same and are quest based. It would be nice if they just
removed these and added open world rare bosses.

Camera: Needs to be able to zoom out more. Angle tilt would be nice. 360 degree spin would also be nice.

Skills: Skills feel good, but it would be nice if they added some
passives other than the attributes that just add 1% additional damage or
something, they lack depth. In ragnarok an archer could choose passives
that increase range of attack, increase attack speed, or shoot a double
attack, which made combat more fun.

Drops/items: I like how when you kill a monster the item pops out and
you can see it on the floor, very rewarding. I would hope they add
something like cards from Ragnarok, it added much depth to the game and
was very rewarding when grinding and you see a card drop. Even starter
zones had important cards you could farm for late game.

Overall: I like the feel of the game and it has potential. Biggest
change they need to make is adding more zones, remove questing, and
increase size of maps.

Here is my Feed back on the game.

Well first for the forum, still very new and I don’t know how where to post my feedback so if it’s okay I’ll just join you.

I. Login Phase.

It took quite some time for me to login but I already knew that given the game’s hype and that this was still in CBT stage. I think it maybe a bit too early but with the tons of players joining this CBT, this should already give the developers and publishers a good idea as to how many servers they would need to put up to accommodate the players. I did notice that the developers are having a hard time in reply to all the complaints but that is okay since it’s still the first day.

II. Tutorial

This part is a bit hard since I hardly did anything to help me learn how how to operate my avatar. The only thing this game taught me at the beginning was how to normal attack, jump and directional movement. So I am hoping they improve it a bit.

III. Text.

I noticed the content is very well detailed and this is great for any MMO. The pop-up all makes me remember all those RPG games back in the old days. My only concern is the size of the text. For an man in his advanced aged, I had a hard time reading the text unless I went close to my screen. I hope they can add a feature to amend this or if there is please do tell me =(

IV. Game Play.

I choose a cleric. I hate that my casting time is slow but then again this is what make the game balanced. I tried to play like an inquisitor from Dragon Nest and dropping Cure to kill monsters. O ver-all the gameplay is okay. The lag and glitches are understandable given this is still in CBT.

V. Mascot

A game needs a mascot.

About what you said:
III. To be honest if you have a problem reading i would suggest a bigger screen(24" is a good one, not enormous but big enough to play and watch movies and never have any problems font size related). not making fun of you but i could read it very well and i am far from having a perfect vision so age is not the major factor here… it will be better not just for the game but for everything else
V. I think the mascot would be the “Onion” monster cause it is very similar to the previous mascot from Ragnarök(its a cute starter enemy and appears in stronger forms in many different maps in the game giving very good drops for the moment you are in-game). they don’t need to make a mascot, we people make this decision

NOW About what I think they need to resolve:
I. The Number of Chars and initial customization is really bland. I know there will be a more complex character making selection, i also noted that you can see what colors you have access to at the moment meaning maybe we will indeed have an item or quest to get more hair colors, maybe a hair-cutter to change the hair in-game. Now with the companions taking space at the Lodge it makes me very sad that in late game when i have money to just buy an individual companion for each one that doesn’t take space, i will have to see 3(and later more cause i liked some of the ones shown in the database and they didnt even shown wolfs that i so want to have besides my hunter!) spaces occupied. i also want to have more than one companion in the case of a falconeir. i loved to have them both in Rag and it would be sad to let them go sepparate ways now

II. Only one Starter City and Very bad item recipes. I would like to have more than one with a low lvl map surrounding it but the linear quest just kinda kills it making this game less special and remarkable from others. Every single MMORPG now have that linear quest that just makes all the wonder of exploring go down the drain.

I wanted a good(not great it was a blue two stars one and not even the better blue 2* around) lvl 40 weapon to my Swordman but for that i need to go across maps with lvl 70 monsters and even one with lvl 120 monsters, and since some of the maps are confusing to follow(not many open field maps is kinda sad). i am lucky to have friends to help me in it but because of this lvl 40(far from the best weapon for the lvl by the way the others were just impossible unless this is a pay to win kinda game that i hate a lot). Meaning that i would have to always be dependant of others to have what i wanted ingame and sometimes you want to feel that greatness of achieving something by your own and this games dont give you space for it(killing mobs when almost every class have some kind of AoE is not rewarding at all). we died a lot and had to go back MANNY times to the city to repair our equipments making it a very bad experience for the ones helping me cause they didn’t get anything there, not even Exp because of our lvl, we were dying all the time and for what? a regular weapon not a game changing weapon, i kinda like that it wasn’t the best weapon for my lvl by the effort we did but it was a very bad weapon compared to the effort made(not much higher damage than a blank one star one and the extra passive damage wasnt great also). So if the weapon you waste hours from your gameplay and your friends gameplay, waste money repairing what you have already and sometimes even having to pay the repair because someone got really frustrated to die a lot and not even get the Exp because we needed to kill a lvl 70~80 monster to get items to a lvl 40 mediocre weapon instead to have to fight say a lvl 48 boss for the recipe and a lot of lvl 45 monsters to the itens.

III. Still on weapons, but about the level requirements. I didn’t like at all the way used on the LQS(Level Requirement System). 1, 15 ,40,75, 120,170 is too little of a lack. I mean we have a lot of weapons for each level requirement meaning we have big BOOMS in our overall status on those levels making this game not that gradual on the feeling of rewarding the player. there are so many items that are lvl 40 but feel like an lvl 25 item, so many items that are not used at all because why use them if we got something better that is just as easy/hard to get? making them have a lower level requirement makes the items have more use and a bigger rotation. i am lvl 52 on my other Swordman and my best weapon is STILL a lvl 15 requirement Dio Sword that i made into a +10(with a bit of luck ) making it outshine a lot of 40 weapons that we need much more effort and money expend to make and this is kinda sad to me cause the items look nice but they have pretty bad stats for their requirements =/

The one I’m currently using is an average 21" which is a bit good for watching movies and playing games. The game graphics is okay. Just the text

Since you have a 21" then change the game Resolution to change the font size and if that doesn’t change it for better you need to see a doctor with urgency
