Let me start off by saying thank you for sending out another batch of keys for the community. Even though i was content on helping my cousin grind out his pyromancer, I’m grateful to have the chance to test the game out for myself.
In terms of the exp and level progression, the grind is not as bad as I thought it would be. It’d be great to have the same exp rates as the Korean beta testers had, but hopefully this is an indication that the game is nearing open beta testing.
The quest system might need a little tweaking here and there. I found myself missing sub-quests because there was no indication on which NPCs had them. Another issue was that the health bar over the quest bosses would disappear from time to time. It would’ve also been nice to repeat quest bosses, in hopes of getting boss item drops other than cards and exp/currency.
The first character I made was a cleric. I went 2-1 int/spr respectively to see the viability of going full support. Heal and cure were great in that they provided positive buffs as well as damage when needed. The tile place is great but I found myself having to cast it carefully as to not have people accidentally step on them when the heals were unnecessary. What really shined for me as a cleric was deprotected zone (the damage boost due to the decreased defense was significantly high, was kinda hoping i stayed cleric to get it to lvl 10). I then went into priest and leveled monstrance to synergize with deprotected zone. The one issue I had with monstrance was that the buff/debuff would disappear if someone steps on the circle. I had fun with my priest but in hindsight, the level progression was not fast enough especially if your going solo. I eventually abandoned my hopes of advancing into the next rank with only a day or so of beta testing and decided to try out the archer class.
I went 1-2 str/dex build with my archer as suggested by a party member, it was great but I am left wondering if its wiser to put more into dex. I was also considering putting some into constitution just for sustainability. I advanced into ranger due to critical shot and it was great, but it drained sp so quickly which made me question its viability. I was also curious as to the interaction between swift step and steady aim in relation to attack speed (I was unable to get max steady aim but overall effect on DPS seemed underwhelming). Multi-shot was my bread-and-butter skill, wish I went into archer instead of ranger just to see its damage output at level 10. Swift step was great, and in rank 2 you could upgrade this skill to give a 10% (if I’m not mistaken) chance to crit on attack.
I had an extremely positive experience with the game, everyone was easy to get along with and help was available throughout the community. I can’t wait for the full experience that Tree of Savior has in store for all of us!
