Field Farming/ET Archer Build Scrutiny

Howdy Archer Community,

I’ve currently a 230ish toon (A2 Qs3 S1 C1) and am in the midst of rerolling a new toon (Currently A2 R1) with only PvE capabilities.

Was originally intrigued by Dream’s S3 build but have had a recent slight change of heart.

The major traits for the new toon really is for (in order of priorities):

  1. High Mobility Field Farming
  2. ET viability
  3. Future Proof

I understand that it’s going to be quite a tall order to achieve all 3 desires optimally and I’m hoping to get the community’s feedback and critic on the 2 possible routes I have in mind. They are (in order of interest):

  1. A2 R1 SC3 SR1

  2. A2 R1 SP2 SR2

  3. A2 R3 SR2

Now before I go into possible reasons for short listing these builds, I’d like to first state that as far as equipment goes, I do have access to some mid-high level gears: main hand, off hand, accessories, head costumes, level 5,6,7 gems etc.

Stats wise, I am well aware of the numerous threads and topics that feature the age old discussion between STR and DEX. I won’t dwell much into it because I recognise 2 ends of the spectrum and while subjective, they both cater to the needs, expectations and comfort levels of different players. I don’t think there is a single perfect route at this point because going pure or a mixture of both brings certain trade offs. You’d only need to convince yourself if you can live with it and if it works for you.

At this point, I would be more inclined toward going the pure STR route due to how the stat scales, possible future proofing when more DEX related bonuses in gear become available in future patches.

The main reason really for choosing SR in all builds over a Rank 7 class really is for the mobility the mount brings when moving between mob spawns and getting around. Next is the added bonus of being able to acquire the added HP bonus the mount brings.

While I understand that SR1 alone will not bring up the full potential of Retreat Shot compared to SR2, the main reason for the choice is functionality and convenience of quick movement.

Your thoughts and critique please!

Cheers

If you want high mobility field farming QS3 A2 SR2 is really good.

For field farming A3 - SC3 - SR1 [since R1 only gives u barrage lvl 5 and the damage is garbage]

For ET content run A2 R3 SR 2 [u will have the nice critical chance increase buff on A2 and stead aim lvl 15 from ranger 3, we know that on iToS its nerfed, but still avaliable]

Archer 3 Scout 3 Cannoneer here.

Scout’s Cloak is all the mobility you need and it comes with awesome skills for farming.

Cannoneer AoE DMG is great and is most likely ET Viable.

If it’s mobility you want, a single rank of scout with cloaking 5 giving 100% uptime + the move speed attribute is a much better choice than SR.

Also, I can tell you as an SR2 here that the class is not really all that people make it out to be. It’s much easier to see how seemingly ‘OP’ it is until you actually play it. I could go into a whole list of what’s wrong with the class right now but I’ll save that. If you’re making one PURELY for ET viability (which is a concept that baffles me because ET is not even the true end game afaik and even so, it’s like 10% of the entire game?), hate to say it, you might want to consider something else, perhaps a scout-cannoneer combo suggested by the above poster.

I dunno, clearing out whole rooms of mobs with retreat shot and not even slowing down is pretty fun.

Just run in a small circle with retreat shot on and all mobs eventually come into the tornado of death

Thanks for the suggestions and inputs everyone. All your inputs have valid points across the various domains of play.

I do have some reservations over the builds I mentioned and recognise that there isn’t a one size fits all build. More importantly, it may not be practical to plan too far forward because that could likely stifle the fun that comes with leveling a toon.

I guess the main reason for SR is really a “good feel” factor that comes with having a mount. Whether it serves it’s function well, I will likely need to roll one in any case to truly come to any reasonable conclusion.

As mentioned in the OP, I currently have a A2 QS3 Scout 1 Cannoneer 1 and have thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.

I guess I will roll Dream’s Scout 3 build as originally planned.

Part of the reason is having already invested quite abit in the Multi Shot and Barrage attributes (Both above Level 70) to ease in the leveling process and I probably shouldn’t let that go to waste.
