As a circle 3 Pyromancer, I have noticed that field boss loot seems to prioritize the players who deal the highest DPS. Throughout the iCBT, I have killed approximately 5 field bosses in total. Each time, there were around 10 players participating in the boss fight (2 parties with 5 players in each). I’m definite that I managed to receive loot after every single field boss. However, the tank (Peltasta) for my party claimed that he never received loot from any of the field bosses that we took down. My friend (DPS Hoplite dealing mediocre boss damage) was also in the party, and claimed that they sometimes received loot.
Judging from the few field bosses that we fought, there seemed to be a limit to the amount of loot a field boss would drop. From observation I would guess that a field boss can drop up to 5 items, which meant that only the 5 highest damage dealers out of all the participants would receive loot. Even though everyone in my party played their roles effectively and put in the same amount of effort, some of them were pretty much guaranteed not to receive loot as long as there was another party dealing more damage to the boss.
I want to emphasize that I don’t actually know how field boss loot distribution actually works, but it certainly seems as though it favors the highest damage dealers. I feel that this provides no incentive for tanking/healing roles to participate in these boss fights. What are your thoughts on this issue?
