Tree of Savior Forum

Feedback from a guy who loves the game

Layouts & Design

  • There is a lot of NPC placement that needs work because of their Quest Flag icons being hidden by environment graphics.
  • Environment graphics are the parts that need to be transparent when our characters are being hidden by it, not give us a silhouette of our character.
  • Remove the FPS & Ping Counter or at least give us an option to do so
  • Fix typographical errors or name inconsistencies (for example, Wings of Vaivora and Wings of Vibora)
  • Allow collection materials to be placed via right-click like the Storages.
  • Have the Party Search Engine actually work.
  • There seems to be a left click bug when switching to items from equipment in the inventory.
  • Pressing shift opens up Steam’s chat mode. I know some other games have this, but since Tree of Savior is only available on Steam and doesn’t have another client, this needs to be fixed.

Class Balance & Character Progression

  • Have the official website show all of the abilities and classes of the characters. Unofficial databases should not be our primary source of information. The reason for this is there are paths that are simply not compatible with each class, making it difficult for a player who doesn’t visit other database websites.
  • Show the recommended weapon for each class. Most of the time, the path you want to take for a class should be based on the weapon you choose, so putting that information during the Advancement process will allow players to understand the path they are going to take.
  • Swordsmen have a more difficult time in Team Battle League than any other class simply because of range. Perhaps give more classes some ranged abilities or maybe extend the range of some attacks (good example of a bit of a ranged attack is Zwerchhau for Doppelsƶldners).

Game Design

  • Rank 8 is incredibly difficult, considering Rank 1 to 7 can be easily solo’d. A lot of people may find this as a dealbreaker, I for one find it refreshing. However, the mob density and numbers are just too outrageous that a player cannot actually do a little bit of the content solo. (Swordsmen need to have high HP, Clerics & Wizards need to have their buffs while Archers can just fade and breeze through).
  • Increase the Party Count or Allow Dual Parties. I went to Timerys Temple with my questing party and there was another questing party in the area. I wish that we could participate in quests together rather than being competitive with each other regarding quest tasks.
  • Attributes costing so much allow the player to always have something to do because your silver will always go somewhere. I like that a lot.
  • Collection items may be too harsh in terms of drop rates such as Sauga Motor Drive (for TWO collections), etc.
  • Having Macro AFK EXP Leech classes such as Warlocks is QUESTIONABLE in my opinion. A lot of players actually make use of ā€œleveling servicesā€ or ā€œbooster partiesā€ to rush through the content. I do believe that Tree of Savior is a hardcore game that should not be rushed. I would understand if this is your 5th character or whatever, but having characters not go through the experience of the game by just leaving their characters in the safety of others, makes them high level players without any knowledge or gear for their characters.
  • The floating bridge in the Level 240 Dungeon is QUESTIONABLE at best. Having disconnects, stutters, rubber banding and even the floating bridge disappearance bug begs me to ask why this was put in the game. It was a fun idea, if the game did not experience any connection issues, but as long as this issue persists, please just connect the zone architecture.
  • Please INCREASE the amount of FREE cosmetics in the game. Having 10 hair styles just won’t cut it in 2017. Even Ragnarok Online had at least customizable hair color. I honestly expect at least 20 to 30 free hair styles with changeable hair colors for everyone.

Optimization & Performance

  • Stuttering when bringing up World Map or Zone Map (especially when running as Swordsmen), even worse freezing when bringing up the maps in dungeons.
  • Option of removing damage by other players should also remove their buff text such as Concentrate, etc.
  • I love what the developers are doing, trying to optimize the game so that 100 players using abilities can still enjoy the game without lag. However, even as a solo player in a field you will still experience a lot of stuttering.
  • The disconnects I’m sure IMC is already aware of, especially in the SEA servers (Telsiai for me) are rage-inducing when you are doing instance dungeons or request centers.

GM/Staff & IMC

  • They are very friendly (imo) considering the amount of negativity that lurks forums, the game itself and even the subreddit they get.
  • The toxic bot users really need to go. There’s no need for explanations because they can always make up some kind of excuse.
  • The events are what keep me rolling in the game, I love it. IMC knows there are some development issues with the game and they are really trying to make up for it with fun events that give a lot of free stuff.
  • I enjoy the fact that cash shop items can be sold on the market. This actually makes it Pay To Win, considering the fact that silver is pretty much your driving force in this game other than your time and patience to grind/farm. However, this makes it fair for those power players who avoid spending on the game at all costs. In my opinion, having what a paying player can do also be done by a non-paying player does not make it a Pay To Win game but makes it a Pay To Get Ahead game if anything.

Overall

I love the game. It’s probably my favorite game this 2016 (I started playing around November 11, 2016 and I’m currently level 300 now). It’s not a perfect game by any means. I’d even rate it objectively a 6/10 with all of the issues. BUT, I know it can improve and can be a VERY GOOD MMORPG, the way it was envisioned to be. It saved me from Dota 2 which I have played 3666 hours of. I uninstalled Dota 2, looking for a better overall community experience and the game has been great for me. Partying in Rank 8 content is incredibly fun and refreshing. I have spent $5 on a Token for 30 days and that seems like a reasonable price to pay for the game so that I can enjoy it a lot more while giving support to the game. While I am quite excited for Rank 9 content, I am thoroughly enjoying my first character’s progression and this will actually be the first MMORPG that I will reach level cap in. Thank you IMC & NEXON, more power!

Oh don’t get me wrong, i love the game, the concept at first was awesome.

What i hate is the company, that instead take the approach they said they would last year, decided to go with money milk plan, making the game boring, repetitive and buggy, they could even have a buggy game but if they did what they supposed to do, i am sure there would be a hell lot of players and buyers.

But it is hard to think straight when money is involved so they end up being idiots.

Well, I do have some game design background so I thought I’d help out a bit. I know there are limitations that a publisher can do regarding the development of the game.

Yes sir!

Well, that’s all I can afford (I’m not really into the other cosmetic stuff and I’m also not aware of how to use the other stuff like gem abrasive etc.) Also, that’s all i can afford per month to be honest since I’m saving up for a new PC.

Let me just lighten up a bit here. Game development is difficult. Trying to fix things or add new content needs a LOT of testing. That’s something that without a lot of manpower or budget, will be VERY difficult to attain. In fact, one of my solo projects had a crashing bug that took me MONTHS to fix simply because I lacked the resources to do so. Can you imagine your project suddenly having a bug, that would take a LONG TIME to find where it went wrong in the program/engine/code, and an equally long time to fix it and test it.

I do understand the impatience of a lot of you, especially those that have been here since Closed Beta or Early Access. You have been putting up with this for over a year now. Publishers and Developers are two very different parts of who delivers us our games, especially in MMORPGs that get localized per area. I do wish all of the bugs get fixed this 2017 however, since I am sure there has been enough development time over the years to accomodate this. What I want to say is trust is a two-way street. If we’re asking it from the developers & publishers, that means we’re giving it to them. That’s why I’m hopeful for a better 2017 for Tree of Savior.

EDIT (After seeing patch notes for January 10, 2017): Let’s look here with the two biggest things: Optimization update and Market update. The Market now holds your items for 7 whole days, instead of 1 day. I’m sure IMC cares about their users, and we also need to show our care for the game. It’s still a profession for them and we need to show our support for the game to continue to grow and become what we all (both developers/publishers and players) envision it to be.

The thing is, there is difference in being difficult and being capable of, the head of the project Mr Kim is like a father for Ragnarok Online, the game was a huge success, still hold some in it even today.

A couple of months ago a staff admitted that they can’t fix most of the stuff since some of the issues are under layers and layers of codding in certain files (if I’m not mistaken the maps files).

We have been waiting for this optimization since the 2nd iCBT, and it became even more necessary when they gone to OBT then Release.

They even had to close the servers for new registration once to try and fix the Channels Crash issue, which still happen today but for a different reason.

I won’t be pointing here every single little issue (if you can really call them little) the game have right now, but if you do some searching around, of course, ignoring some stupid threads with nonsense, you will see what i am talking about.

Now as for this company, I will only believe in what they say after they show me the results in the project, also, the game development took a turn for my biggest nightmare, it is turning into another generic MMO you see out there with less bugs than this one. Completely different from what they said last year lol.

I want this game to be successful, but if the people behind it act like they are right now, this game have a dark future, or better yet, it already got into the same dark future.

in short, op didnt get what we had back in march-nov2016.

op is relatively new, so…

also, i love tos~

ohya, i bet op didnt know how imc said there wont be any skill/stat/rank reset way back in cbt… talk about betrayal

its okay, tos is full casual n p2w model now

guess that most angry player are because they spent few hundreds dollar on a game cant live up/betrayed their expectation.

TOS is okay if you dont pay hundreds.
coz beggers freebies cant be choser

current pop about 4k player… thats about 4k token sales nonetheless.

i guess thats good enough sales for a mmo.

i rather drink 10more startbucks than cash-pooling mr kim new ferrari.

just-a-hue-thing

Hello Savior @Medevenx
It does not mean that 'Market will hold your items for 7 days!! "
When you register an item in the market, ā€˜the set of Sales Period & Commission Fee’ has changed from 1day to 7days. So please remember to change ā€œ7 day(s) 2.5% of the selling priceā€ to ā€œ1 day :1% of the selling priceā€ if you want :0

Couldn’t said better myself.

And that is where my money goes, at least it is something that bring some fulfillment.

im not seeking for approval or people to agree with me

just as doom posting yada yada is not constructive, i really dont think the buttocks-licking-good whiteknighting is doing any good as well

if imc do good, we give credits where its due.
if imc do not so good, well, a little spanking wont hurt much anyway

but it seems that, imc is getting all the praise for every single thing which they ought to do in first place, and theres little to no punishment for things they shouldnt break.

i dont know, maybe yes, maybe no, people still play nonetheless

good for u op.

+1 for effort

Well, as you can see with this being my very first MMORPG to hit level cap in, I’m very casual about it. I’m not white knighting (as I said, I’d objectively give the game a 6/10) but it just gives me EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for lately (quit Dota 2 for more cooperative gaming, something with actual difficulty that solo RPG games tend to lack, a new game with a dedicated SEA server). I see what you all mean, however. Since I have played Dota 2 for years and only remember it with utter disgust and rage, even though I liked the game at first. Granted, the game hasn’t been released for a full year and they do have 2 more ranks to make so since I don’t see this as the full game yet (more like an extended open beta test for me), I have hopes for the game. If the game still sucks by level 600, then I was wrong (I’m looking for a long-term game).

i agree 6/10 from nov2016 to jan2017

i’d give 3/10 for i played april to dec2016 because i was there

i think any new player start dec2016 to jan2017 will give 8/10 with 100usd top up for 8x exp tome + token + gacha silver lottery box

heck, even new player jan2016 with 100+hours played can reach 330 with 200usd tp top up will rate 9/10

i dont mean to belittle your experience, just letting u know most player discontented for valid reasons.

Almost all players first 300hours rated high 7+/10
(most new player is not happy with the 7days lv40 restriction)

Almost all players with 500+ to 1000hours+ have a mix 5/10

many 1000+ players either quit tos already or have a meh-turnning-blind-eyes 3/10 rating

atleast 5% of current 4k players with more than 1000+ hours played and have atleast 3 lv330 are still happy n rate tos 7+/10

im not discouraging people not to play tos

im telling imc your tree is on fire and its gonna be burnt to crisp soon

huehuehue

also, main reason i dont give point bullet suggestion is, im a customer

even if im a proffesional barrista, i wont go and tell starbuck how to make coffee

as a customer, i only give my money for good product, or give middle finger to lousy service.

still, dont get me wrong

i am happy u enjoy playing tos~

i see my old self in you~

must be great to be new to tos
